Chapter 44 Midnight Showdown

Brown Wolf Tribe.

The clear river water flows between the rocks, making a pleasant babbling sound. The river not only provides water for the forest, but also provides a habitat for many orcs.

The forest is even more mysterious at night, with moonlight filtering through the treetops and casting dappled shadows on the ground.

On the riverbank, far from the center of the tribe's settlement, Jiang Cha was secretly setting up an iron pot, preparing to boil water for instant noodles.

As soon as I put the noodles in, I heard the sound of someone swallowing their saliva.

"Who is it? Show yourself!"

Hearing the commotion, Jiang Cha shouted angrily, but when she saw that it was Wolf King Kovi, her anger turned into helplessness.

Just as I was about to say something, a silver fox and a white-haired rat also slipped out.

In no time, they all transformed into human form.

"You're following me?"

Jiang Cha turned the tables, put her hands on her hips, and pointed at the three of them.

Lin Bei's brows furrowed with an indescribable sense of grievance, his eyes clear yet tinged with confusion, as if silently proclaiming his innocence.

Feng Mu's lips drooped slightly, revealing a sense of helplessness at being misunderstood, while his alluring fox-like eyes appeared exceptionally gentle in the moonlight.

Only Kovi spoke first: "Little Cha'er, I absolutely did not follow you. I only came to protect you because I was worried about your safety!"

Lin Bei lowered his head, looking flustered, and whispered in defense, "I...I'm here to protect you too."

Jiang Cha stared at the fox with wide eyes: "Heh, what about you? Don't tell me you're here to protect me too."

Feng Mu's eyes suddenly reddened, tears welling up in them, and he was holding a very shiny stone in his hand. "I just wanted to give this to you. I didn't see anyone, so I came out to look for you."

What a crybaby!

Jiang Cha sighed helplessly and pointed to the seats next to the large iron pot, "Everyone, sit down."

The instant noodles were ready, but a few more people arrived, so she had to cook a few more packs.

She took things out of the space without any hesitation.

Feng Mu, whose eyes were still blurry with tears, was stunned. But seeing the expressions of the two people beside him who were already used to it, he immediately looked away, obediently placed his hands on his knees, looked up at the sky, and pretended to admire the moon.

What secrets does the little female still have that he doesn't know?

Kove had always known that ginger tea was something special.

The first time they met, she had killed a male orc with the strength of a fourth-tier warrior. Now, seeing her openly revealing her secret to him, his love for her deepened.

There are two people next to me who are too in the way.

If it weren't for these two troublesome fellows, he might have been able to enjoy moonlit pleasures with his beloved female!

His regretful yet resentful gaze lingered on the two people beside him like a knife, a hint of murderous intent unconsciously emanating from him, causing them to unconsciously distance themselves from him.

Lin Bei already regarded Jiang Cha as a goddess, and as long as he was by her side, he didn't care about anything else.

Three handsome men of different appearances were sitting opposite her, and Jiang Cha felt a little embarrassed even while eating noodles.

She coughed lightly and served a bowl to each of the three people opposite her.

"This is called instant noodles. You can eat it after just soaking it in hot water. I added some dried meat. Try it and see how it tastes..."

Before Jiang Chahua could finish speaking, Kovi and his wife finished a bowl of noodles in one bite.

The nearly two-meter-tall giant looked at her with starry eyes, "Little Cha'er, this is so delicious! How is it made?"

He smacked his lips, looking like he wanted more food, but didn't dare to say so.

Jiang Cha slowly slurped up a mouthful of noodles, took a satisfied bite, and then replied lightly, "I won't tell you."

Kovi: "..."

The other two ate much more politely, but there wasn't much left in their bowls to begin with, and they finished their food quickly as well.

Feng Mu sat down next to her ingratiatingly, "Cha Cha's cooking is really delicious. If you're missing any ingredients, just let me know and I'll go find them tomorrow."

He also handed himself the beautiful gemstone, a deep blue five-pointed star, which felt a bit rough to the touch and wasn't very smooth. The center was transparent, and it didn't seem like it was polished by nature, but rather like it was made by man.

"good."

Jiang Cha seemed to like it, so she didn't refuse and took it without hesitation.

Lin Bei was the weakest of the three, so they didn't let him go hunting. His main task was to stay home and take care of the cubs.

After finishing his noodles, he didn't say anything, but silently cleaned up the dishes and the big iron pot, and then took them to the river to wash them.

When Kovi saw the gem, he snorted disdainfully, "The craftsmanship is really bad. If Xiaocha'er likes it, I'll have the best female craftsman in the tribe make a bunch for you."

Feng Mu turned and glared at him, but when he looked at Jiang Cha, he immediately became pitiful. "Cha Cha, I know I didn't do well. It's good that you don't mind."

"No, it's very pretty, I like it very much."

Jiang Cha stood up, took out the five-pointed star, and looked at the sapphire that shone brightly in the moonlight. She said earnestly, "Nothing made by others can compare to the sincerity of something made by myself. I don't need a bunch of things that are mass-produced by others."

"Cha Cha is right. Someone even made other females help make clothes. Doesn't he know how to make them himself? He has no thoughtfulness at all."

Feng Mu spoke in a sarcastic tone, his eyes gleaming with smugness.

Kovi clenched his fists in anger, his chest heaving, wanting nothing more than to beat that damned fox to a pulp.

But with ginger tea here, he forced himself to suppress his temper.

He gave a soft snort and muttered, "My skills are too bad, I can't make it."

Ever since Kove explained it to her last time, Jiang Cha knew that he wanted to find someone to make her beautiful clothes.

She wasn't so angry anymore, but the promised marriage had been postponed to three days later.

That day was a full moon night.

It is the mating season for all adult orcs.

Jiang Cha admired the gemstone without saying anything, but Feng Mu said, "Excuses. You can learn if you don't know how. It's just that you're not paying attention."

Kovi, tongue-tied, stomped his feet in frustration, "It's not like I haven't tried to learn, it's just that I really can't!"

Feng Mu retorted lightly, "That's just stupidity."

Kovi's furry ears and tail were already showing: "Say that again if you dare?"

Seeing this, Feng Mu immediately hid behind her, pointed at the werewolf, and complained pitifully, "Cha Cha, I was just stating the facts, and he still wanted to kill me. You have to stand up for me!"

Jiang Cha casually put away the sapphire and walked towards the river. "I'll go see if Abei is done washing. You guys do as you please."

She's not stupid. How could she possibly try to mediate a fight at a time like this? One is her already engaged partner, and the other is her pre-arranged future partner who is pursuing her. Helping either of them would easily backfire.

It's better to let them solve it themselves.

Kovi instantly transformed into a giant wolf, snarling, "You damned fox, don't you dare run away!"

Seeing that Jiang Cha wasn't going to bother him, Feng Mu transformed into a little silver fox in the blink of an eye and darted away.

"Stupid wolf! If you're so brave, don't chase me!"
