Chapter 119 The World Spins
Shu Ning gripped the animal-patterned clothing on his shoulders tightly, afraid that he would fall off if he walked too fast.
She watched him panting as he walked briskly, and remembered what she had read in the encyclopedia.
How does he usually control himself? What methods does he use? Or is he always enduring this, with the risk of sudden death every full moon?
If that's the case, then wouldn't he be living in constant worry?
Thinking of this, she looked at him with concern and a complicated expression.
She released one hand and reached out to stroke his cheek, gazing at him quietly.
Feeling the female's caress, Mo Li glanced down at her, then looked ahead and continued on his way.
"What's wrong?" he asked in a low voice, panting heavily.
"It's nothing," she said. "I used to..."
Seeing that she stopped halfway through her sentence, Mo Li frowned, "Don't hide anything."
Seeing that they had reached the cave entrance, Mo Li slowed down and waited for her to speak.
"Mo Li, how are you feeling right now?" Shu Ning asked.
Inside the Ink Glass Cave—
"What?" Mo Li carried her into the cave. "Are you worried about my health?" A playful glint appeared in his eyes.
Upon hearing his words, Shu Ning's face instantly flushed crimson, and she buried her head in his chest. "No...no," she pursed her lips.
"I mean, do you feel any discomfort anywhere in your body?" Shu Ning said, but she still felt that the meaning was similar to what she had just said.
After Mo Li placed her on the bed, he looked at the female beneath him. Her fair skin had a faint blush, and her lips were red and glossy.
His Adam's apple bobbed slowly, and a possessive glint appeared in his eyes.
"Hmm...yes." He groaned, his breathing deep, and his originally pale skin now showed a faint red, with veins on his forehead bulging slightly.
His eyes were like an abyss, surging with the vast blue of the deep sea.
The gaze was so deep, as if the entire sea before a storm had been condensed in those vertical pupils, and some ancient and damp gaze was climbing up the spine.
Shu Ning noticed that the characteristics of the Jiao Clan on his body were becoming more and more obvious.
The scales around his eyes gleamed with an eerie light, flickering with his breath.
He suddenly leaned closer and ran his fingertips across her trembling eyelids. The touch was icy cold, yet it burned invisible marks on her skin.
Too close...
In the dark cave, a damp chill seeped into my bones.
Water droplets condensed on the rock face dripped down, echoing hollowly in the silence.
The cave was filled with a bitter medicinal fragrance, and the poisonous vines hanging from the stone walls cast menacing shadows beneath their dark blue scales.
Shu Ning smelled the dampness mixed with the scent of herbs in the air. She was drawn to the smell and then turned her gaze to a corner of the cave.
She was surprised to find that after not visiting Mo Li for a while, his cave had been transformed into a completely different place.
A row of plants grew along the edge of the cave, and various poisonous vines climbed the rock walls. The one in the very center was the Nine Hell Soul-Slaying Grass that she had given him before.
I don't know when he raised me to this age.
She remembered that the thing would poison her if her skin came into contact with its sap.
She didn't recognize the rest, but suddenly her gaze was drawn to a vine with blood-red roots.
She remembered seeing it in an encyclopedia, something called Bloodbeard, but she couldn't recall exactly what it was called. She only remembered that it would emit a shrill scream when dug up.
Thinking of this, she shuddered slightly.
"What are you looking at?" Mo Li sensed her reaction, looked in the direction of her gaze, and her eyes flickered. "Do you know what that is?"
Shu Ning nodded, then shook her head.
She only glanced at it briefly and didn't look into the details.
“That’s the Blood-Weeping Hundred Ghosts’ Whiskers. Have you ever heard their voices?” Mo Li leaned closer to her, their noses touching.
Shu Ning shook her head slightly.
"Eat this." Mo Li took out something that looked like a pill from somewhere and put it to her lips.
After hesitating for two seconds, Shu Ning opened her mouth and ate it.
Shu Ning, wondering why he was giving her this to eat, saw Mo Li leave her.
Then she saw him get up and walk towards the plant, tearing off one of its red tendrils. The tendril immediately emitted a wailing sound as it was broken.
Upon hearing the terrifying sound, Shu Ning immediately shrank further into the bed and covered herself completely with the blanket.
Mo Li frowned slightly when she saw how scared she was.
That thing wasn't going to stop anytime soon, so he could only try to comfort her.
If she hadn't eaten that stuff, she would already be trapped in a terrifying illusion.
I gave her that pill just now to prevent her from being affected by illusions.
“…Don’t be afraid, I’m here.” He moved closer to her, whispering in her ear, his voice as deep as an echo from the abyss.
Shu Ning fearfully reached out and hugged him tightly, and he hugged her back...
—Then the world began to spin.
The next morning, Shu Ning woke up in Mo Li's arms and breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that the scales from the previous night were gone.
The blood vines inside the cave have stopped growing.
She looked at the various poisonous plants in his cave, neatly arranged, all sorts of colors, though the colors were rather dark.
"Awake?" Mo Li felt the female's movement in his arms. "Why didn't you sleep a little longer?"
"Um..." Shu Ning was too embarrassed to say that she needed to use the restroom.
She wanted to get up to take care of it, but her body was sore and weak, her eyes were still sleepy, and her body felt so tired that she just wanted to stay in bed.
After all, he had only slept for less than an hour.
"Are you feeling unwell?" he asked worriedly, looking at her embarrassed expression.
"No, I was woken up by... suffocating," she said shyly.
Upon hearing this, Mo Li immediately stood up and picked her up.
"Hey, clothes!" Shu Ning called out.
Shu Ning, who was being picked up, immediately became shy and wrapped her arms tightly around his shoulders.
Because they weren't dressed yet...
Seeing his reaction, Mo Li smiled and said, "Weren't you holding back? You'll have to take it off later."
"Hehehe..." Shu Ning responded with an awkward laugh.
That makes sense.
Then Mo Li carried her deeper into the cave, squatted down, and opened a clay container.
Adjust her posture so that she is facing the container.
Shu Ning was so flustered by his actions that she could no longer describe herself as just shy.
"Put me down, I... I can do it myself," she said, patting his hands that were holding her legs.
“It’s okay, just leave it like this,” Mo Li said, but did not do as she was told.
At this moment, Shu Ning was both urgently needing to urinate and embarrassed; it was obvious that she felt she was about to burst.
Let's just get straight to the point...
"Do you want to go for the big one?" Mo Li asked when she saw that she had stopped.
"No...no need!" Shu Ning immediately said.
She still lets him hold her back even for this? How will she ever be able to face anyone again...?
"Um."
Then, Mo Li placed one of her legs on her own and picked up a piece of animal cloth to wipe her down.
After that, he carried her back to bed.
After getting back into bed, Shu Ning crawled into the innermost spot and covered her head.
She really wanted to leave this continent right now!
Suddenly remembering that Mo Li's hometown was in the sea, she withdrew her previous thought.
Shu Ning suddenly remembered something and crawled out of bed. "Mo Li, do you want to become a real dragon?"
"You are a Jiaolong (蛟龙) clan member. If you successfully transform into a dragon, you should be called a Jiaolong."
