Chapter 151 Illusion
Upon hearing Shu Ning's voice, Jin Tong and Mo Li looked in the direction of the sound and breathed a sigh of relief when they spotted Shu Ning.
At this moment, Shu Ning turned around and saw Han She's cold and stern face. He was lying on his side, looking at her lazily, his eyes captivating.
His partially concealed pectoral muscles were faintly visible, creating a stark contrast with his black animal fur.
It's hard to look away.
Shu Ning was still in a daze. She tried her best to recall that she had fallen asleep while chatting with Jin Tong last night.
Nothing else happened after that.
I ran all the way from the wolf pack yesterday, and I was probably too tired, so I sleepwalked into his bed?
Thinking of this, a blush crept onto her face, and she laughed awkwardly, "How did I get here? Haha, I must have been sleepwalking."
After saying that, she prepared to get up and get out of bed.
At this moment, Han She pulled her back, leaned close to her neck, and sprayed his hot breath on her skin.
He said in a deep voice, "What, you're disgusted by this?"
"No...no!" Shu Ning quickly replied upon hearing this.
"No, then why are you running? Hmm?" he pressed.
"I..." Shu Ning didn't know why she ran away.
“Ningning, how could you be sleepwalking? He must have carried you over while we were asleep in the middle of the night,” Jin Tong said as she walked over.
"You saw it?" Han She said.
"I..." Jin Tong was speechless for a moment.
He slept so soundly last night that he didn't notice.
Xuan Lin remained silent, simply getting up and putting on his clothes.
"It's good that Ningning is alright." Seeing Xuan Lin get up, Mo Li also prepared to get up.
Then Shu Ning took out the fish that Mo Li had fried earlier and shared it with them.
"Ningning, your space is really great. It can hold so much stuff and it hasn't broken after all this time," Jin Tong said.
...
After they finished eating, they decided to set off.
After inquiring about the missing stray animal's physical characteristics, approximate time of disappearance, and the last place it was seen, they began their analysis.
“The places where they finally appeared all had one thing in common,” Xuan Lin said.
"Smell." Han She and Mo Li said almost simultaneously.
“I can smell it too, it smells like… a lizard,” Jin Tong said as she sniffed.
"Not bad." Xuan Lin nodded slightly.
"Is it some kind of giant lizard?" Shu Ning asked.
She remembered reading in an encyclopedia that there was a place in the Phantom Desert where giant lizards lived underneath.
Xiao Chong and his team lost track of them when they reached the desert.
The others looked at Shu Ning in surprise.
"Haha, I heard Xiao Chong say that there's a piece of land north of this Abandoned Beast Domain that's their territory underground," Shu Ning said with an awkward laugh.
She borrowed Xiao Chong's again.
"Let's not delay, let's go now," Jin Tong said.
“Mm,” Xuan Lin replied.
They then set off northwards.
This time, Xuan Lin carried Shu Ning on his back.
Xuan Lin and Jin Tong ran ahead, while Han She and Mo Li followed behind.
"Ningning, did Xiao Chong say how far we're going?" Mo Li asked.
“About…” she recalled, “it was about the distance from where we went from the forest to the abandoned beast domain.”
“Then we need to speed things up,” Jin Tong said. “This desert is quite different from the abandoned beast domain we visited before.”
Along the way, he always felt that he would see some strange things from time to time.
But it was fleeting, making him feel like he was seeing things.
“That’s right,” Han She said. “This is the Illusion Desert. The further north you go, the more likely you are to experience hallucinations. Everyone, please be careful.”
"Han She, have you been to that place up ahead?" Jin Tong asked as he ran.
“I went there once when I was a child, but that was a long time ago,” he recalled.
"Impressive, you've been to so many places at such a young age," Jin Tong said. "My parents wouldn't let me leave the fox clan when I was little."
"The farthest place I've ever been since I grew up is the Wolf Clan," Jin Tong recalled. "But this place is currently the farthest I've ever been, oh right, and the Black Serpent Clan as well."
"No wonder you love to play so much," Mo Li said.
Jin Tong turned around, glared at Mo Li, snorted, and said nothing.
"It's not a bad thing to like having fun; it's good to go out and broaden your horizons," Han She said.
"Han She knows how to talk," Jin Tong said.
Just as Jin Tong finished speaking, he saw several winged, hairless animals circling in the air ahead.
It has a ferocious appearance, with huge fangs in its mouth, dripping with sticky saliva, and occasionally making low growling sounds.
Upon seeing this scene, all the fox fur on his body stood on end, and he immediately stopped with his foot on the brake.
The others saw it too and stopped.
"Han...Han She, have you ever seen this thing before?" Jin Tong asked, feeling a chill run down her spine but still shielding Xuan Lin with her body.
Upon seeing the object, Han She frowned slightly and said, "No."
“They don’t have any scent on them,” Xuan Lin analyzed.
Upon hearing this, Jin Tong sniffed carefully. Apart from the scent emanating from the few of them, there were no other strong orc scents nearby.
“Yes,” Jin Tong said, “Then they…”
"It's an illusion," Shu Ning guessed.
She had also experienced hallucinations in the Phantom Desert.
“That’s right,” Han She affirmed.
"So what should we do now?" Jin Tong asked.
"Charge!" Han She said.
"Charge them?" Jin Tong looked at their ferocious appearance and was still a little scared.
“Yes,” Han She replied, “The sooner the better, otherwise we might be led into an illusion and end up not being able to tell whether what we see is real or an illusion.”
Upon hearing this, Shu Ning recalled the Xiao Chong she had seen in the desert before, and indeed, she found it difficult to distinguish him.
If she hadn't remembered the system's prompt and felt anxious for Xiao Chong, breaking the illusion, she might not have been able to distinguish between reality and illusion.
"Okay, let's go for it." Jin Tong said, mustering his courage.
“Together,” Xuan Lin said.
They then rushed over as fast as they could.
As they passed beneath them, Jin Tong glanced back and saw that the hairless flying beasts had suddenly vanished as they turned to chase after them.
After walking for a while, the group stopped to rest, drank some water, and then continued running.
Mo Li, who had been keeping an eye on their running distance, said, "We're almost there."
"It's almost done," Han She said.
"But where is the entrance?" Mo Li looked at the endless desert, without even a single stone.
Shu Ning only saw that it said there would be an underground area nearby, but it didn't explain how to get there.
"Let's look for it," she said.
"It should be around here," Xuan Lin said.
“I also think it’s around here,” Jin Tong agreed. “The orc smell is stronger around here than in other places.”
“That’s right.” As a snake-beastman, Han She could feel that the ground tremors in this area were significantly different from those in other places.
Suddenly, not far from them, Xuan Lin spotted a pair of eyes staring at them from the desert.
"You guys wait here," he said, and quickly ran over.
The owner of those eyes quickly disappeared into the desert after seeing Xuan Lin running towards it.
“Here!” Xuan Lin shouted.
The others came over and checked.
"Where?" Jin Tong asked.
Then Hyun Rin squatted down and brushed away a thick layer of sand.
Instantly, a wooden plank the size of a well was revealed in that spot.
