Chapter 152 Desert Underground City

Chapter 152 Desert Underground City

Seeing this, the others squatted down and continued to dig with Xuan Lin. After lifting the wooden plank, they saw a black tunnel that looked bottomless.

“This is very likely the last place the stray beast appeared,” Jin Tong said.

"Okay," Mo Li said, "Let's go down and take a look first."

"I want to see what's inside," Jin Tong said, preparing to jump down.

"Wait." Xuan Lin stopped Jin Tong, who was about to go down, and walked to the side to pick up a skull and throw it down.

The group lay down and listened quietly to the sound of the skull rolling down.

“It wasn’t very deep at first,” he analyzed.

“And it’s a winding passage,” Han She said.

"Jintong, you and Shu Ning stay outside, we're going down to take a look," Xuan Lin said to Jintong.

“Mo Li, stay too.” He then turned to Mo Li and said.

"No," Mo Li refused. "If there are any poisonous creatures down there, can you handle them?"

Xuan Lin was silent for a moment, and just as he was about to say something, he heard Shu Ning speak.

"Xuan Lin, let's go down together," Shu Ning said, taking out several fur coats from her spatial storage.

“Everyone, put this on to cover your racial features,” she said, distributing the furs to them.

Xuan Lin looked at the fur in his hand and said, "Alright, everyone stay close to me later."

"Hmm." The others put on their furs.

Then, Han She was the first to jump down, and after observing for a week, she shouted, "No problem, come down now."

“Be careful—” he added.

Then Xuan Lin picked up Shu Ning and jumped down, followed by Jin Tong, and finally Mo Li.

Once everyone was gathered, they began to cautiously explore the black passage ahead.

The hole started vertically and wasn't very deep, but then it started to slope downwards.

The further down you go, the lower the temperature inside the cave becomes.

At first, it was still very hot in the desert, but now the group has started to feel cooler.

The sweat on my body had long since disappeared.

"Thank goodness for this fur, otherwise I would have caught a cold." Jin Tong said, wrapping the fur around his body tighter.

Shu Ning looked at the underground cave. She had originally intended to use fire to test the oxygen level, but then she remembered that this was their living place and there must be ventilation.

They had walked for a while when they came across several cave entrances, and the group stopped.

"Where did that orc go?" Jin Tong asked as he pondered, sniffing at each cave entrance. "I can't tell; they all smell pretty much the same."

Han She squatted down to examine the footprints he had left behind. "This way," he said, pointing to the hole on the left.

They then continued on their way.

After an unknown amount of time, they were able to sense the moisture in the air; the humidity was completely different from when they first entered the cave.

Tiny streams of water could gradually be seen on the rock face.

Shu Ning recalled the map she saw at the time. North of the desert was a wasteland with a river, and further north of the wasteland were mountains with snow all year round.

"Is there a river up there?" she warned.

"Mm," Han She replied.

"Won't it collapse?" Jin Tong looked around worriedly.

“It’s not that coincidental.” Mo Li touched the moss on the rock wall. “This passage is quite old.”

After a while, the water flow on the rock wall disappeared.

Then, I slowly began to hear various voices, knocking sounds, and shouts coming from not far away.

The already cautious group became more alert as they approached, and the passageway grew wider and wider.

Finally, what came into view was a huge, empty cave.

Inside, the orcs were selling various items characteristic of their race, including gems, bone knives, necklaces, herbs, and animal hides...

The group watched all this with curiosity, but the beastmen showed no interest in them and instead began promoting their wares.

One of the orcs said to Jintong, "Hey handsome beast, would you like to see our newly arrived animal hides? They're shiny, soft, and comfortable—they're really rare!"

When Jin Tong saw that the fur was indeed beautiful, his eyes lit up instantly, and he couldn't help but take another look.

It was just strange that he was introducing his things to him, saying, "Your things are so good, why don't you keep them at home? Aren't you afraid someone will steal them if you leave them here?"

The orc laughed heartily after hearing this, "That's precisely why we dare to display it!"

"Xuan Lin, put me down." Shu Ning patted Xuan Lin's shoulder and said.

Jin Tong wanted to ask something more, but seeing that he liked it, Shu Ning stepped forward, took his hand, and said to the orc, "Your fur is quite nice. What would you like to trade it for?"

Upon hearing Shu Ning's words, the orc immediately recognized that she had met someone who appreciated her and was willing to exchange. He laughed and said, "What do you have that can compare to my superior fur?"

He proudly displayed his fur, waiting for Shu Ning.

Shu Ning thought about the things in her space, took out a jar from behind her, and handed it to him, "How about this?"

The orc took the jar from Shu Ning's hand and examined it seriously.

Shu Ning explained, "This thing is not easy to make; it needs to be refined with fire. It can be used to hold water, juice, honey, and the like. As long as you don't drop it, it can last a long time."

The orc listened and nodded repeatedly, "That's right, this is the first time I've ever seen something like this."

The beastmen selling goods nearby heard this and curiously gathered around.

Seeing so many other orcs surrounding him, the orc, fearing he'd be snatched away, immediately said, "Alright! I'll take it!"

He then handed the animal pelt to Shu Ning.

Jin Tong and the others watched with curiosity as Shu Ning and the orc performed their actions.

"Here, Jin Tong." Shu Ning handed the fur she had obtained to Jin Tong.

Jin Tong took the fur and his eyes lit up with joy. Then he frowned and looked at Shu Ning: "Ning Ning, that jar was something you worked hard to make. It's not worth exchanging it for this."

"There's no such thing as worth it or not. If you like it, then it's worth it," Shu Ning said, raising her hand to pat his head.

"I really like it!" Jin Tong thought happily.

"Friendly reminder: Jin Tong's favorability has increased by 3 points, and her current total favorability is 87."

"Yes, I'm glad you like it," Shu Ning said.

At this moment, the beastmen who had gathered around introduced to Shu Ning, "Beautiful lady, we also have a lot of good stuff over there. Would you like to go take a look?"

“Hey, I have one too!” another orc squeezed in and said.

"Go to mine, mine is better!"

"Mine is better!"

...

"Should we go take a look?" Shu Ning asked, looking at the group of beastmen.

Upon hearing Shu Ning's agreement, the beastmen rushed over, trying to pull her over, shouting, "Come to my place!"

"No...no need." Shu Ning quickly waved her hand and stepped back.

At this moment, Han She picked up Shu Ning and stared at them with a sinister look in his eyes.

The beastmen immediately quieted down after sensing Han She's gaze.

Just then, a pair of vertical pupils were staring at them from not far away. Upon seeing Shu Ning, they immediately ran back.

Inside the cave, the orc, panting, called out, "Boss... Boss."

"What's wrong? Why are you in such a panic?"

"It's...it's Shu Ning!"
