Chapter 217 Xuan Lin Cried
Seeing the untouched food beside him, Xuan Lin went out and threw it away, intending to go out and get some new food.
Before that, he decided to tell Muxia about Xingyu's escape.
After leaving Muxia Cave, he saw that it was already evening and guessed that Shu Ning had already woken up.
But when he entered Shu Ning Cave again, he found her still lying in bed.
A bad feeling crept into his mind, and he went over and sat down on the edge of her bed.
Seeing that Shu Ning's face looked lifeless, a hint of panic flashed in his eyes.
"Ningning..."
He called out softly, then placed his hand on her forehead.
The outcome wasn't what he expected, but he didn't relax; instead, he became even more burdened.
He immediately went to summon the witch doctor.
"What's the rush? I lost my shoe."
"Witch doctor, could you please take a look at Ningning? What's wrong with her?"
“Uh…” The witch doctor stepped forward to examine him.
At this moment, Shu Ning's face had turned pale, her eyes were closed, and only her breathing and heartbeat were keeping her going.
"Hiss...stain." The witch doctor frowned as he observed Shu Ning.
"What...what happened to Shu Ning? How can she be so weak?!" The witch doctor exclaimed in surprise, drawing conclusions from Shu Ning's condition.
“Last night I was just with Yan, nothing else special,” Xuan Lin recalled.
Remembering what they had found in the cave, his furrowed brows suddenly relaxed, and he stepped forward to ask, "Are you overworked?"
Upon hearing Xuan Lin's suggestion, the witch doctor examined the body again.
After a moment, he shook his head.
"No, someone who is overworked should be sleeping soundly, but... look at Shu Ning's face, she doesn't look like she's resting from overwork."
“What else could it be?” Xuan Lin frowned again after hearing the witch doctor’s answer.
"That's right!" the witch doctor said, but the thought made his expression turn serious.
"What's wrong?" Xuan Lin asked anxiously. "Did you figure something out?"
"Xuan Lin, you need to be mentally prepared." He looked at Xuan Lin's expectant eyes and couldn't bear to tell him the truth.
Xuan Lin's eyes darkened further upon hearing the witch doctor's words. "Witch doctor, please speak."
“Shu Ning, she might…” the witch doctor paused, “not live much longer.”
"well……"
"Let's prepare for her funeral as soon as possible."
Upon hearing the witch doctor's words, Xuan Lin immediately flew into a rage, "Witch doctor, don't talk nonsense if you don't know anything!"
“I’ve lived this long and seen quite a few people die. Shu Ning’s symptoms are no different from those of people on their deathbeds,” the witch doctor said excitedly.
"If you don't believe me, you can go find a shaman from another tribe to come and see if my diagnosis is the same as theirs."
Upon hearing the witch doctor's words, Xuan Lin felt as if he had lost something very important.
He suppressed his emotions and decided to travel to other tribes that very night to find a shaman.
"The Queen..." The Crimson Tiger Clan shaman shook his head.
"Sigh..." sighed the Black Serpent Clan witch doctor.
"How could this happen?" the fox-clan witch doctor exclaimed in shock. "It's all over now."
"Who are you calling finished!" Xuan Lin said angrily, grabbing his animal-patterned clothing.
"I, I, I mean me," the fox clan witch doctor hurriedly said. "The clan leader will definitely not let me off when I get back..."
Over the next few days, he went to Youhuang Marsh without sleep and brought back the shamans from the two tribes and the shaman from the Jiao tribe.
The result was always the same.
Five days passed, and seeing Shu Ning's breathing become extremely weak, he finally knelt helplessly in front of her bed.
He trembled as he took her hand and gently placed it on his chest.
Close your eyes and feel it; at this moment, tears finally broke free and rolled down from the corners of your eyes.
His disheveled silver hair hung limply. "Ningning... I'm sorry..." he sobbed, bending over. "It's my fault..."
Tears streamed down her face, wetting her hands.
He quickly dried it with his clothes, saying, "I'm sorry..."
"It's my fault for not protecting you..."
Seeing Xuan Lin crying so miserably, Shu Ning felt a pang of admiration for how much he cared for his females.
She was also touched by him and wanted to go up and comfort him.
However, he couldn't hear the sounds she was making at the moment.
She didn't know when it started, but when she opened her eyes, she was already in this cave.
He didn't know why she was here, nor what she was, or why he couldn't see her.
She just felt a sense of familiarity with this place, making her reluctant to leave.
"Ningning!" Jin Tong's excited voice came from outside.
The moment he opened the door, he saw Xuan Lin kneeling in front of Shu Ning's bed, crying.
A bad feeling welled up inside them, and the group rushed to Shu Ning's bedside with concern.
"Xuan Lin, what's wrong with Ning Ning?" Jin Tong saw Shu Ning's pale face and didn't want to believe his intuition.
“Ningning, she…” Xuan Lin couldn’t bring himself to say anything about Shu Ning’s condition.
"What happened to her? Didn't I tell you to take good care of her?" Yan grabbed Xuan Lin by the collar and lifted him up, questioning him.
Xuan Lin remained silent, only choking back sobs.
"I'll go call the witch doctor," Xiao Chong said, and then turned to leave.
“It’s no use,” Xuan Lin said. “We’ve seen all the witch doctors we could call.”
Upon hearing Xuan Lin's words, the group members looked grave, their brows furrowed, unwilling to believe the truth they had heard.
Only Mo Li kept looking at the two Shu Nings in front of her from the moment she entered.
One lay on the bed with its eyes closed, utterly lifeless.
One of them stood in the corner, looking at him with a bewildered expression and the same curiosity.
"Can you see me?" Shu Ning asked curiously.
Mo Li swallowed hard and nodded.
"Waaaaah... Ningning!" Jin Tong cried as he hugged Shu Ning.
"Can't you see?" Mo Li asked, her eyes filled with shock.
"What do you see?" Jin Tong asked.
“It’s Ningning.” Mo Li said, stepping forward to take Shu Ning’s hand.
"Isn't Ningning right here?" Yan said, suppressing her grief.
"No." Mo Li tried to pull Shu Ning, who was standing in front of her, but she couldn't hold on to her no matter what she did.
"What exactly is going on?" he asked, puzzled.
He was the only one in the entire room who could see Shu Ning; no one else could.
"Could it be that there's something wrong with my dragon transformation?" He began to doubt himself.
But standing right in front of her was a living, breathing Shu Ning, only she seemed to remember nothing.
But what about Shu Ning, who is lying down?
"Xiao Chong, can't you see it either?"
He looked around and saw that everyone else was sitting sadly by Shu Ning's bedside, but Xiao Chong had the same expression as him.
“I can’t see it, but I can feel it,” Xiao Chong said seriously.
"Right? I knew it wasn't just me who felt that way," Mo Li said. "Ningning, what's going on with you?"
"Me? My name is Ningning?" Shu Ning asked.
