Chapter 23 Parasites
Xiao Chong took the roasted meat that Shu Ning handed him, frowned, and took a bite.
The moment the aroma of the meat entered his mouth, a glint of light flashed in his eyes. He looked at the meat in his hand in disbelief, unable to resist wanting to take another bite, and quickly finished the rest.
Shu Ning started eating too. The meat with salt really made a difference; it tasted so much better!
At this moment, Xiao Chong squatted down and imitated her earlier actions to skewer the meat, then carefully placed it on the fire to grill.

Shu Ning grasped Xiao Chong's hand, which was pulling her away.
"Mother, please tell me, maybe I can help."

Upon hearing this, the middle-aged female who was weeping with her head down felt a glimmer of hope, but when she looked up and saw that it was Shu Ning, she instantly became even more desperate.

After she used her teleportation four times, a fruit shell, a large tree, a melon, and a pile of black fruits instantly appeared at the entrance of the cave.
Fortunately, this is the perfect season for melons and black fruits to grow.
I'll have to find the last of the seasonings myself.
"I should have known better than to let Xiao Chong leave."
However, she decided against explaining these sudden appearances.
Shu Ning followed the map in the encyclopedia and went alone.
This plant can be found on a hillside not far from the woods.
It's not too far, but it's not very close either.

Suddenly intrigued, he abandoned his prey and decided to see if she could climb up. He prepared to sit down and watch her performance.

Just as I was about to leave, I heard her painful wails. I decided to go over and make fun of her.
Upon seeing him, Shu Ning was overjoyed and disregarded the pain in her body.
"Jin Tong, can you do me a favor?"
He had just arrived when he heard her asking for his help. He immediately felt annoyed and, not wanting to talk to her, turned to leave.
"Please, help me out. Consider it something I owe you," Shu Ning said anxiously as he looked like he was about to leave.
Seeing her so sincere, Jin Tong, though unwilling to pay her any attention, stopped and asked impatiently, "What kind of help do you need?"
Seeing this, Shu Ning quickly said, "Help me pick a handful of those... fruits."
She pointed to the Sichuan pepper trees on the slope and said.
"What do you want that for?" Jin Tong asked unkindly when he saw that she wanted him to pick the fruit from the thorny bush.
"She was very useful to me; she saved my life."
"Aren't you perfectly fine now?"
Jin Tong looked at her. Although she didn't look very healthy, she wasn't at least on the verge of death.
“It wasn’t me, it was A-Ting from the clan. He’s very ill.”
Upon hearing her mention other males, Jin Tong felt a surge of anger rising within him, and his eyes turned icy cold.
"What does his serious illness have to do with you?"
"It has nothing to do with me, but he is still a beastman of our wolf clan. Please save him if you can. The situation is urgent, and saving his life cannot be delayed."
Shu Ning knew he might have misunderstood, so she quickly explained.
Although he was impatient, he still transformed into his fiery red form, leaped up, and easily uprooted the entire pepper tree for her.
"Is that enough?" he asked after dropping it.
"That's enough, that's enough," Shu Ning said happily, looking down at the peppercorns on the ground.
"Thank you!"
She looked up and saw that the fox had vanished.
