Chapter 244 Search
This was the first time Shu Ning had used teleportation since she lost her memory, and she had to imagine her destination the moment she used it.
In her desperation, she thought of the bed where she had just woken up.
Shu Ning breathed a sigh of relief after opening her eyes and seeing that the teleportation destination was correct.
Xiao Chong patted Shu Ning's head, a slight smile playing on his lips.
Xuan Lin, who was sitting on the animal bone chair inside, tending to his arm which had been bandaged, suddenly noticed someone on the bed. He immediately got up and looked warily toward the bed.
Upon seeing Shu Ning and Xiao Chong, he relaxed his guard and noticed the expression on Shu Ning's face.
"What happened?" he asked, his brow furrowing slightly.
"I just had a little conflict with someone," Xiao Chong said, getting up from the bed.
Hearing this, Xuan Lin walked over, sat down on the edge of the bed, and carefully checked Shu Ning. "Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, it's just... Xiao Chong got into a fight with them," Shu Ning said apologetically to Xiao Chong.
"How did they start fighting?" Xuan Lin looked at Xiao Chong and asked after making sure he wasn't injured.
"It wasn't Xiao Chong. I accidentally broke that orc's pearl, and that's when the conflict started," Shu Ning explained.
"That's because he didn't take proper precautions to protect the pearl!"
Xuan Lin imagined the orcs here fighting over a single pearl, acting completely unreasonable, and said with a speechless expression.
"What are you trying to do!?"
Just then, Jin Tong's alert voice came from outside.
“We suspect that thieves have infiltrated the area, and it wasn’t a deliberate disturbance.”
Another voice came.
When the blue orc entered, he saw several orcs with extraordinary bearing sitting in the main hall. A hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure and continued to stand tall, waiting for the orcs to gather.
Then came the sound of a group of footsteps hurrying into the hall.
"There are no thieves here; you must have come to the wrong place."
Upon seeing that a considerable number of beastmen had entered, Yi Yuan dampened his interest in studying the Eastern Sea and spoke in a mature and steady voice.
"Whether there are thieves or not, we'll find out with a quick search," the blue orc leader said sternly. "Search thoroughly!"
"yes!"
After receiving the order, the orcs began to search and examine the items.
"You just barged in like this, aren't you afraid of your master's wrath?" A mocking voice came from inside the hall.
"It's none of your business."
“If the thief is not found, I will apologize to the Lord. But since it concerns the safety of the Lord and Dong Canghai, I must investigate thoroughly.” The blue beastman said seriously without looking at Yan.
"Heh, quite responsible."
As Yan spoke, he rested his chin on one hand, looked at the serious-looking blue orc, and smiled leisurely.
The blue orc ignored Nightmare, maintaining a serious expression, hands behind his back, and straightening his posture while awaiting the search results.
The orcs searching the hall didn't dare to go too far; they were all looking through the things very carefully.
After a search, some orcs have returned to report.
"Boss, there aren't any here."
"Boss, there aren't any here either."
Upon hearing this answer, the blue orc's eyes deepened as he looked into the inner room.
"There's only one silver wolf there. It was with us just now. It shouldn't be the one you're looking for."
Nightmare sat in the merman's original main seat, crossed his legs, and spoke in a lazy manner.
"I advise you not to waste your time."
At this moment, the three people inside also heard Nightmare's words and the Blue Orc's possible action of sending people in.
Xuan Lin and Xiao Chong had already drawn their bone knives and were hiding on either side of the door, their eyes sharpening as they prepared to deal with any potential risks.
"Someone come here."
"Here!" Two orcs who had just finished searching and found nothing walked up to the blue orc after hearing his name.
"That room hasn't been searched yet," the blue orc said, pointing to the inner chamber.
Both orcs hesitated when they saw the direction he pointed.
Some of them, though never having entered the palace, had heard of the importance of the inner chamber adorned with strings of pearls—
They had heard how precious that inner chamber was to their Lord.
"Boss..." a beastman said, sounding embarrassed.
"What, you think I can't order you around?" The blue orc who had been watching the inner room turned his gaze away after seeing that they hadn't moved and questioned them.
“No,” one of the orcs explained, frowning. “Boss, the master never lets us get close to that house…”
He said this while glancing at the blue orc.
Enraged that his subordinates had not followed his instructions, the blue orc said, "If a thief sneaks in and threatens our master's safety, can you take responsibility?"
"This..." The two orcs looked at each other and hesitated.
"Hurry up and go!" the blue orc roared.
“Yes…” the two orcs replied, and then approached the inner room step by step.
Hearing the commotion outside, Xuan Lin and Xiao Chong gripped the bone knives even tighter.
“Male, please don’t obstruct our work,” the blue orc said.
"This is where my Ningning rests, you're not allowed in," Jin Tong said, blocking their path as she transformed into her fox form.
Upon hearing Jin Tong's words, a hint of surprise flashed in the blue orc's eyes.
When did their lord allow others to enter?
Thinking of this, he snorted coldly, becoming even more certain that there were people inside, and that all the land beastmen in the hall were likely accomplices.
Taking advantage of their lord's absence, they conspired to commit wicked deeds.
"Go in and search!" he continued, shouting orders.
"yes!"
After hearing their leader's order, the two orcs continued walking inside.
"I said, no entry—!"
At this moment, Jin Tong was also furious. Seeing them approach, he blocked the doorway even more tightly.
Upon seeing this scene, the others immediately abandoned their spectator personas and transformed into their original forms, rushing over.
Nightmare leaped directly in front of Ember Eye, positioned above the two sea monsters, looking down at them intently.
The two little sea creatures had never seen a tiger on land before. The moment they saw Nightmare, his sharp teeth and fierce, piercing eyes made him look even more terrifying than their leader.
It looked as if it could bite them to death in one bite.
Thinking of this, their legs trembled involuntarily.
"Boss... Boss." When an orc looked up and saw Nightmare's eyes, he cried out for help, his mouth trembling.
Seeing that the Nightmare and the others were protecting and blocking the inner room, the Blue Orc became even more certain that there were people inside.
He laughed smugly, "Well, so those two thieves really were inside."
"Stop searching!" he shouted at the other orcs.
Upon hearing their leader's voice, the orcs who were searching elsewhere stopped what they were doing and approached the blue orc.
"The thief is right here! Whoever finds the thief first will get double the meat tonight!" he shouted excitedly.
"yes!"
Upon hearing this, the beastmen all drew their bone knives and approached them.
Here, the environment is similar to that on land, making it difficult for sea monsters to revert to their original forms. They can only use bone knives and fish bones to fight back.
