Chapter 266 "I'm Back"

Chapter 266 "I'm Back"

Shu Ning tidied up and prepared to go back to sleep.

The next morning.

"Ningning, I'm back! I've prepared lots of gifts for you, come and take a look!" Jin Tong tilted his head, his eyes sparkling as he looked into Shu Ning's hole.

Its tail wagged expectantly behind it.

Shu Ning, who had just gotten up, lit up when she heard Jin Tong's voice.

"Jintong, where have you been these past few days?" She put on her fur coat and went outside.

Jin Tong opened his arms and hugged her, his tail wagging wildly behind him. "I've been to many places."

He stood up, smiled mysteriously, and waved to his fox clan subordinates behind him to open the contents of the package. "Ningning, quickly see what I brought you."

“Jin Tong,” Shu Ning patted his shoulder, not responding immediately, and carefully examined his body, saying, “Let me see if you are injured.”

"No, I'm perfectly fine." Jin Tong felt Shu Ning's concern and opened her arms to show her, "See, I'm perfectly alright."

"Okay, I made Ningning worry. It was my fault." Jintong cupped her face and gently pinched it.

With a happy smile on his face, he took her hand and led her over, saying, "Come on, let's see what your husband brought for you."

"What's this?" Shu Ning asked, watching him pick up a small wooden box.

Seeing that she showed little interest in the gifts, a hint of disappointment flashed in Jin Tong's eyes, but she quickly perked up again, "This is pearl cream made by deep-sea merfolk..."

Then he picked up an exquisite jade box and opened it.

"Deep-sea merman? You didn't get it from Leng Ye, did you?" Shu Ning said.

“No,” Jin Tong shook his head, his tail swaying back and forth. “They are real merfolk. Our fox clan has always had dealings with the merfolk, and we took the opportunity to visit them on this trip.”

“I see,” Shu Ning replied.

"I found this especially for you. I heard it's good for the skin. Ningning, try it!" Jintong waved the pearl cream in front of her.

"Um."

Jin Tong scooped out a little pearl cream and gently applied it to the back of her hand with her fingertips, her technique gentle and meticulous. "My Ningning is already beautiful, she will definitely be even more beautiful after using this."

After applying the product, Shu Ning felt a cool sensation on her entire arm. She raised her hand and smelled it. "It smells quite nice, it's cool and refreshing, not greasy at all, and it absorbs very well."

"Of course, this is perfect for use in autumn and winter. It can protect the skin from the dry weather, so my Ningning doesn't have to worry about her skin cracking."

Seeing that she liked it, Jin Tong's eyes smiled even more.

Suddenly remembering something, a hint of smugness flashed in her eyes, "I almost forgot, I brought back some honey and fruit, Ningning, would you like to try some?"

"Jintong, no need, go back and rest first," Shu Ning said, worried that he had rushed back overnight.

Jin Tong squatted back down next to the pile of packages and searched for them, its tail wagging high.

"I'm not tired," he said in a gentle voice.

Then he picked up a plump, juicy fruit and waved it in front of her, his tone coaxing, "Ningning, do you really not want it?"

"This fruit is very sweet, as sweet as honey." His fiery red eyes looked at her, filled with expectant light. "Want to try some?"

Shu Ning smiled and took it anyway. The moment the fruit touched her tongue, she exclaimed, "Mmm, so sweet!"

"It smells very good too," she said, smelling a floral fragrance.

"Scented...?" Jin Tong asked curiously.

“Yeah, Jin Tong, didn’t you smell it?” Shu Ning asked while eating.

His reply could no longer be heard...

"Jin Tong?"

"Jin Tong?"

At this moment, Shu Ning was awakened by her own shouting.

She opened her eyes and realized she had been dreaming.

The scene just now felt so real that she still felt like it had just happened.

The cave was so quiet that you could hear the wind blowing outside.

As the autumn chill set in, her exposed arms felt icy cold.

She pulled her arms back under the covers, instantly feeling warmer.

A moment later, she got up, put on the fur coat, and prepared to go to the space to see how things were going.

Upon entering the space, I was surprised to find that many plants had already bloomed, filling the air with fragrance, exactly the same as the one I had smelled in my dream.

The seeds I sowed yesterday have already started to sprout.

After watering them and weeding, she returned.

Looking at the weather outside, with its bleak autumn wind, she decided to go out and try her luck, to see if there were any small animals she could catch and keep as pets.

"Shu Ning, where are you going?" Yu Sheng, the guard at the gate, asked as he saw Shu Ning going out alone.

"Oh, Yusheng, just going out for a stroll," Shu Ning said. "Have you been on duty these past few days?"

“Yes, they’ve all gone out, leaving only a few of us to guard the tribe,” Yu Sheng said.

Upon hearing this, Shu Ning asked, "Have you seen Jin Tong return?"

Yu Sheng shook his head. "No, they haven't come back yet."

“Okay,” Shu Ning sighed softly and replied, “I’m leaving.”

"Be careful!" Yu Sheng instructed.

"Um."

On the way, Shu Ning hadn't gone far when she heard someone calling her from nearby.

"Your Majesty, where are you going?" the Crimson Tiger Beastman asked as he came from the forest.

"Just browsing around," Shu Ning said. "You guys do your thing, don't worry about me."

"Your Majesty, let us go with you."

“Yes,” several black serpent orcs appeared and said, “we want to join too.”

Shu Ning frowned slightly as she looked at the several tall orcs. "No need, I'll just wander around the neighborhood."

"Alright... Queen, please be careful," said the leader of the Crimson Tiger Beastmen.

Watching Shu Ning's departing figure, the leader of the Crimson Flame Tiger beastmen turned around and ordered, "Go and tell the king about this."

"Yes," the orc replied.

"You few stay here, the rest of you come with me."

"Yes," the other orcs replied.

“Then we’ll go with you,” said the black serpent orc.

"Alright then." The Crimson Tiger Beastman wasn't really keen on going with them, but considering they all shared the same goal, he let them have their way.

They followed from a distance.

After Shu Ning stopped, they also stopped to rest and shared their food.

"Boss, the Queen seems to be looking for something?" a Crimson Tiger Beastman reported back. "But she hasn't found it."

“Many animals are burrowing this season, so there are very few animals to be seen on land,” the leading Crimson Tiger Beastman analyzed.

Soon after, Shu Ning continued her journey.

Seeing this, the other beastmen followed at a distance.

"Boss, where is the Queen going?" a Crimson Tiger asked upon seeing the unfamiliar road.

The lead Crimson Tiger frowned. "They're heading south..."

"The direction of the sea!" he said after a moment's thought.

"Is the Queen going to the Jiao Clan?"

“Hmm…” the Crimson Tiger Beastman said.

“No,” the black serpent orc beside him denied, “this is not heading in the direction of the Jiaolong Clan.”

"The Jiao Clan's direction is west, and that direction is..." he said solemnly, "...the Merfolk."
