Xuan stretched out his claws to pick at the broken carcass of the Sharptooth Beast. Remembering the taste of an adult Sharptooth Beast, he bared his teeth. The meat was rich and fat, and it would be good when roasted. If eaten raw, even in its animal form, it would be too greasy. So he preferred to hunt young Sharptooth Beasts.
He paused at the thought. What would he do after consuming so much raw adult Sharptooth Beast meat? He'd definitely go find some water to cool off! He happened to know where the lake was. Xuan narrowed his eyes and looked in its direction. Rather than chasing it in a random direction like a headless fly, he might as well take a gamble that the Shadow Beast would go to the lake to drink.
With this in mind, Xuan no longer hesitated and headed straight towards the lake. Fortunately, his analysis was correct. He could smell the scent of the shadow beast along the way, all left behind not long ago. He could also tell that the distance between him and the shadow beast was getting closer and closer.
Following the scent, Xuan ran at full speed.
Suddenly, there was a sound of air breaking from the right, and a huge black shadow rushed towards him.
Danger! In the nick of time, Xuan made a sharp turn, leaping high to the left, then abruptly pivoted in mid-air, landing on the ground in the direction of the attack. Gray-black fur, a long, pointed snout, powerful limbs, and a thick, long tail—it was indeed it, the fleeing shadow beast!
Xuan stared at the shadow beast intently, seeing the old scars on its face from forehead to cheek to ear root. A trace of tyrannical murderous intent flashed in his eyes. He had seen it 10 years ago, which was why he didn't want to return to the tribe temporarily. He would never let it go.
The two giant beasts stood on each side, confronting each other, growling from their throats, staring at each other without blinking, their lips raised, fangs bared, their bodies tense, like arrows on a bow, ready to be released at any time.
There was complete silence all around, not even the sound of insects, leaving them with a space for a life-and-death duel.
In the end, the shadow beast could no longer hold back, roared, and rushed towards Xuan. Xuan did not avoid it and also met it head-on.
Bang——
The two beasts collided, their claws lashing out, heading straight for vital points. Xuan dodged the giant claws that were aimed at his head, and immediately turned around and slapped the shadow beast hard. The shadow beast was unable to dodge, its fur flying, leaving three bloody marks.
Seeing his strike was successful, Xuan immediately lunged at the Shadow Beast's back, attempting to pin it down from behind. Sensing his movement, the Shadow Beast immediately rolled onto the ground, its back against the ground, its limbs raised, its body curled up to protect its abdomen. Its claws popped out, blocking Xuan's attacks while using its hind paws to kick at Xuan. Xuan dodged the Shadow Beast's frantic counterattacks while firmly pinning it down, preventing it from rising from the ground.
The shadow beast was a circle larger than Xuan. When they were fighting with each other, Xuan was almost knocked over by the shadow beast several times.
The roar shook the sky, dust flew up, and some of the surrounding bushes were crushed by the rolling beast, with blood spilled on the branches.
The battle wasn't over yet. The shadow beast struggled mightily, its limbs dancing wildly. Every time Xuan attacked, he left scars on the beast while also drawing blood on himself. However, he didn't care; he just wanted to kill the beast before him.
Xuan's desperate fighting style stimulated the shadow beast, making it even more crazy. It stopped defending and just fought Xuan back. When Xuan pounced again, it used its front paws to meet Xuan's claws, holding them tightly, and opened its mouth full of fangs to bite Xuan's neck.
Xuan pinned the shadow beast down, raising his body to avoid it. The beast bit him on the shoulder. He roared, his claws darting out, following the beast's force and digging into its flesh. With a powerful downward slash, eight scratches stretched from the beast's chest to its abdomen. The beast, sensing danger, released its front claws and launched a fierce kick at Xuan's abdomen with its hind legs. Xuan immediately jumped away.
After forcing Xuan back, the Shadow Beast quickly turned over, bearing two of Xuan's attacks on its back, and leaped forward. It was larger than Xuan, and once it stood up, Xuan's attempt to pin it down was nearly impossible. It ran forward without looking back, with Xuan chasing closely behind.
The sun gradually sank to the west, and the lake reflected the figures of the two giant beasts. The shadow beast didn't understand why Xuan was chasing it so relentlessly, but it knew that it couldn't escape. If it couldn't kill Xuan, then it would be the one to die.
Gathering their last bit of strength, the two beasts collided with each other again, causing ripples on the lake. Soon, even bigger splashes of water appeared, and the two beasts rolled into the lake.
Blood and water splashed everywhere, and both sides no longer held back and only wanted to kill each other.
for a long time
Everything returned to calm. The lake surface mixed with blood reflected the setting sun. For a moment, it was impossible to tell which was the blood and which was the sunset.
Xuan stood up and dragged the shadow beast's corpse ashore. His body was covered in blood, which flowed across his wounds and down his limbs. The brutality in his eyes had not faded, and murderous intent was raging. He turned his back to the setting sun, like a demon god.
Putting down the corpse of the Shadow Beast, Xuan sat there in a daze, looking up at the sky. Suddenly, he roared as if to vent his anger. This roar was unusually joyful, as if a long-cherished wish had been fulfilled.
