Chapter 244 Intercepting the Spoils?

Mr. Jiang's significant price reduction truly tempted Xie Yuyao and Zhao Honghui. Even though neither of them was short of money, who would let such a good opportunity pass them by?

Xie Yuyao invited Mr. Jiang into the house, where Zhao Honghui served him tea. She then went back to her bedroom (space) on the second floor, took out eight thousand banknotes, put them in a black bag, and carried them downstairs.

After Mr. Jiang finished taking stock, he couldn't stop smiling. This couple was really straightforward!

The group chatted for a while longer, and when they realized it was time for the housing management bureau to open, they went to the bureau together to transfer the property.

Just outside the residential area, Xie Yuyao saw a Jeep parked on the side of the road. Three young men dressed in fine clothes got out of the car. One of them, a man in a casual suit, saw them and his eyes lit up: "Old Zhao, Mr. Jiang, I was just about to look for you."

Old Zhao looked embarrassed, and Mr. Jiang also seemed very awkward. "What do you want from me?"

"For your house, I'll add another five hundred, making it seven thousand five, is that enough?"

“You’re too late; the house has already been sold.” Mr. Jiang felt annoyed by the condescending expression on his face.

"What? Sold it? How much did you sell it for?" another young man asked.

"No matter how much it costs, the deal is done."

The third young man, however, noticed the bag in his hand: "You just made the deal, are you going to transfer the ownership now?"

Bai Chuan then turned his attention to Zhao Honghui and Xie Yuyao. Seeing that the two were quite extraordinary, he took out a pack of high-end cigarettes from his pocket and offered one to Zhao Honghui, saying, "Brother, it's fate that we met. Have a cigarette."

Zhao Honghui thanked him, reached out to take the gift, but did not light it.

Bai Chuan didn't mind. After exchanging greetings, he half-jokingly said, "Comrade Zhao, I'm currently in talks with Mr. Jiang. Isn't it a bit unreasonable for you to interrupt me like this?"

"That's not how it works. One seller can sell a house and a hundred people will be watching. In the end, it could end up in anyone's hands," Zhao Honghui said expressionlessly.

Shirakawa then asked, "So, are you buying this to live in yourself? If not, would you be willing to part with it and transfer it to me?"

Zhao Honghui looked at Xie Yuyao, who then asked, "Is Comrade Bai buying this as an investment?"

Shirakawa was slightly taken aback, then chuckled and said, "What do you mean by that?"

“We’re going down the same path, so let’s not talk about parting with something. There are definitely other sellers in this neighborhood, so you can keep an eye out for them,” Xie Yuyao said.

Shirakawa nodded: "Alright! I apologize for my rudeness earlier. May I invite you two to dinner tonight?"

Xie Yuyao remained noncommittal and looked at Zhao Honghui.

Seeing that Bai Chuan, though arrogant and extravagant, was still reasonable, Zhao Honghui nodded in agreement.

Shirakawa politely invited them to get in his car, saying he would take them to the housing authority himself, "It's not safe for you to be carrying so much money on the road."

The seller, Mr. Jiang, immediately said, "Then thank you, Comrade Bai."

After saying that, he immediately explained to Zhao Honghui and the other person: "Now more and more educated youth are returning to the city. Many of them do not have proper jobs and have started to do evil things such as theft and robbery. You should be more careful when you go out."

Zhao Honghui nodded his thanks to Xie Yuyao and then, without further ado, got into the jeep together. Bai Chuan personally drove the three of them to the housing management bureau.

His two companions were left standing by the roadside, speechless and bewildered in the wind.

On the bus, Xie Yuyao's past concerns resurfaced in her mind. Just then, she saw a military truck drive by outside the window, carrying new recruits adorned with big red flowers. Instantly, she had an idea: "Stop the bus."

Shirakawa slammed on the brakes, pulled over to the side of the road, and turned to ask, "What's wrong?"

Xie Yuyao said, "I just remembered something, please wait for me."

Bai Chuan and the others watched with suspicion as Xie Yuyao and Zhao Honghui got out of the car and stood a few meters away, whispering about something.
