Chapter 242 Going Back on One's Promises

The morning sunlight streamed through the window frame, falling on the bedside and filling the room with warmth.

On the soft Simmons bed, Xie Yuyao stretched lazily and opened her sleepy eyes. It took her a while to realize what day it was.

After successfully purchasing the villa a week ago and having it cleaned, the couple bought some household items and moved in.

Unlike a hotel, the villa allowed the two to indulge in revelry for several days. Only today, with an appointment with their intermediary, Old Zhao, did they finally return to their normal routine.

"Honghui!" Xie Yuyao called out, but received no response. She looked around and saw a note on the bedside table.

She picked it up with her bare hands and realized that Zhao Honghui had gone for his morning exercise.

No wonder he has a body that has been through countless trials; even after a whole night of exercise, he still has the energy to do morning exercises.

Xie Yuyao shook her head and went to wash up, supporting her aching back.

As she came downstairs, Zhao Honghui returned with breakfast and said to her affectionately, "Yaoyao, why didn't you lie down a little longer?"

"If you lie down any longer, you'll be ruined." Xie Yuyao glanced at him irritably. "What did you buy for breakfast?"

"Soy milk and fried dough sticks, and steamed buns." Zhao Honghui placed breakfast on the table.

Soon after, the two finished breakfast and left home.

"Yaoyao, how many houses are you planning to buy?" Zhao Honghui asked as they walked, holding her hand.

"If it's this price, I'd like to buy two more buildings."

"Then you'll have to leave me fourteen days."

Xie Yuyao paused, then snapped, "Can't you think of anything else?"

"You've taken care of the house purchase; there's nothing else I need to worry about," Zhao Honghui said with a smile.

"Then I'll leave the house purchase to you. Here's 30,000 yuan. You decide what to do." Xie Yuyao wanted to let go and let him be the main negotiator; she was exhausted these past few days.

Seeing Yao Yao yawning incessantly, Zhao Honghui's heart softened. "Okay, then you can just watch from the side. In the end, it's up to you to make the decision."

Xie Yuyao laughed: "That's more like it."

At the agreed time, the two walked to another villa a few hundred meters away in the same community. Old Zhao came up to them and showed them the second house.

Unlike her previous decisiveness, Xie Yuyao remained silent, and Zhao Honghui did not comment after reviewing the documents, only asking if there were any other houses available.

"Yes, there is, but we haven't made an appointment with the landlord yet," Old Zhao said, sounding troubled.

"Then you can make an appointment first, any time is fine with today or tomorrow. I want to see a few more buildings before deciding which one to buy."

"Okay, no problem."

After looking at houses for two days, Zhao Honghui chose two houses with good locations and layouts. However, an unexpected incident occurred when he was buying the last house.

The landlord was a middle-aged man surnamed Jiang. Seeing that Zhao Honghui was wealthy and powerful, he originally agreed on 13,000 yuan, but then raised the price to 16,000 yuan on the spot, which made Zhao Honghui and Xie Yuyao laugh in anger.

"Let's go." The two didn't want to waste any more words and turned to leave.

Seeing the two turn and leave without saying a word, the homeowner became anxious. "Fifteen thousand, just fifteen thousand is fine. Let's get the paperwork done right away."

"Hmph, what are you thinking? I don't want it even if it's 13,000." Xie Yuyao rolled her eyes at the man, then turned to Old Zhao and said, "Contact the owner of house number 25 right away, we'll buy his house."

"Great!" Old Zhao, who was also annoyed that the landlord had broken his promise and raised the price, jumped for joy when he heard this.

He could earn a lot of commission by selling one more villa. He thought the business was going to fail, but unexpectedly, things took a turn for the better.

The homeowner panicked upon hearing this. If they bought another villa, he would definitely not buy this one. However, he urgently needed to sell the house to move to Hong Kong and could not delay.

He gritted his teeth and said, "Thirteen thousand it is, I'll sell it!"

"You should just sell it to someone else," Zhao Honghui sneered. He hated despicable people who went back on their word.

The man, in his haste, chased after Zhao Honghui and tried to pull at his clothes, but Zhao Honghui grabbed him and pinned him to the ground.

"Ouch, ouch, ouch... Let go!" The homeowner was sweating profusely from the pain.

Old Zhao was also startled and quickly spoke up for him.

Zhao Honghui then released his grip and stood up, saying, "Stop making any more moves!"

The homeowner, clutching his arm, watched them leave leisurely, and suddenly remembered his cousin's words: "There is a type of person who will not tolerate anyone suddenly approaching from behind. He will treat them as an attacker, and at best, he will dislocate their arm, and at worst, he will be killed."
