Chapter 95 Rong Chu: Together
Yu Wanyin walked to the door, where the carriages and horses lowered their feet and placed the stirrups.
As her attendant helped her up, Yu Wanyin casually asked, "What brings Your Majesty today?"
"It concerns the previous dynasty. Marquis Chu has returned with some news, and we need the princess to make a decision about it," the attendant said simply. "Princess, don't worry, it's just routine business, nothing troublesome."
Yu Wanyin understood.
After she settled into the carriage, she poured herself a cup of tea.
Soon, she heard footsteps outside.
Then the front of the carriage dipped slightly, and that gentle, composed figure entered from outside.
When Yu Wanyin saw Chu Yu come in, she poured him a cup of tea as well.
He started by asking, "I haven't seen you for a while. Have you been busy since you got back?"
"I am quite busy." Chu Yu watched Yu Wanyin add tea, her body slightly leaning forward, her slender white fingers approaching him inch by inch, making one want to invade and possess her.
Actually, there were only the two of them in the carriage.
If he did something to her, Yao Yao would most likely not dare to make a fuss.
The light in Chu Yu's eyes flickered.
Yu Wanyin seemed to sense the strangeness around her.
When she looked up, she saw that Chu Yu was not looking at her. He was still acting as usual, and even took out documents and illustrations in a businesslike manner, talking to her about the current important matters.
This led Yu Wanyin to mistakenly believe that she was being overly sensitive and overthinking things.
Chu Yu's voice was calm and gentle as he briefly explained the situation, "You don't need to do much."
"It's just that each state needs to redefine the official system and powers. I've drafted a few, and we'll take them to the King to finalize them, and then discuss the appointment of officials."
Yu Wanyin approved of his arrangement.
Chu Yu has always been meticulous and tactful in handling matters.
Gu Hong also thought so.
Chu Yu has come up with a fairly comprehensive solution to this matter.
The presence of high-ranking officials at the meeting was of little significance.
However, the new dynasty's top-down system was complicated, and they still needed to weigh every little detail.
Two senior officials appointed officials to a prefecture or county.
Gu Hong looked at Yu Wanyin, "There are no other important matters at the moment, Yaoyao can go back and rest."
“I haven’t been here long either,” Yu Wanyin said, seeing everyone busy and taking the initiative to help out. “I can make arrangements for Yingzhou.”
She stepped forward to retrieve the case files from Yingzhou, saying, "I know a bit about that place."
“If you make all the decisions by yourself, I’m afraid you won’t be able to handle it all…” Gu Hong’s gaze swept down and he immediately saw Shan Chenjun.
Shan Chenjun was about to get up.
Footsteps sounded from the other side, and when I turned around, I saw Chu Yu standing up. "I also come from Yingzhou. I used to hold an important position in Yingzhou."
"I'm sure it will be much faster if I help the princess."
Compared to who came from Yingzhou, Shan Chenjun knew he definitely didn't have any advantage.
Shan Chenjun glanced at Gu Hong again.
Gu Hong looked at Yu Wanyin with a questioning gaze.
Yu Wanyin couldn't possibly embarrass Chu Yu in public, especially since Chu Yu was trying to help her, so she said, "That's fine too."
With Yu Wanyin's permission, Chu Yu stepped forward without any hesitation.
He remained tactful and sat opposite Yu Wanyin at her table.
The two of them spread out the same file.
The scroll in Yu Wanyin's hand was pulled open by him through the book, and she could clearly feel the force coming from his hand.
It was poured into her body in a very strange way.
Yu Wanyin subconsciously let go of his hand, reached for the brush and ink, and asked him, "Who is left in Yingzhou right now?"
Chu Yu took in her evasive actions and continued with ease, "The capital of Yingzhou is Yunjing, where I still have some people."
Shan Chenjun went to collect the files for another prefecture, and when she sat back down, she glanced at the job that had just been snatched away, intentionally or unintentionally.
Shan Chenjun leaned against the side, twirling the calligraphy brush between his fingers.
For some reason, I felt that Yao Yao's literary style and Chu Yu's style complemented each other very well.
Yu Wanyin and Chu Yu did indeed have a very smooth conversation about serious matters.
Moreover, they were indeed from Yingzhou, and therefore had a better understanding of Yingzhou's current internal structure.
Chu Yu held the pen, occasionally asking Yu Wanyin for her opinion.
After discussion, the decision was finalized in writing.
They finalized their part quickly. After Chu Yu finished writing it down and glanced at it briefly, he called her, "Yaoyao, come and take a look."
As soon as Chu Yu uttered the word "Yaoyao," everyone in the hall froze and looked over.
Yu Wanyin could feel a series of gazes instantly gathering around her.
She looked at Chu Yu.
Chu Yu's eyebrows twitched slightly. "Sorry, I just blurted out what I was thinking."
"It's alright." Yu Wanyin stood up and walked around the table to check the files.
Chu Yu spread the documents in his hand between the two of them and began to discuss matters in a businesslike manner.
Chu Yu's voice was much closer, its clear, magnetic tone making one's ears feel a little sore.
Yu Wanyin didn't notice at first and even gestured to him, "Do you know anything about this person?"
"who?"
Yu Wanyin pointed it out, "This one."
Chu Yu leaned closer, and Yu Wanyin's fingertips paused slightly.
The subtle, elegant scent of sandalwood emanating from him began to silently invade her territory.
Chu Yu moved even closer to look at her. "Which one?"
Yu Wanyin's eyelashes trembled, and she composed herself before gesturing, "This."
"This person was quite upright and honest when he was in the court and government." Chu Yu lowered his eyelids and spoke in a slightly lower voice, but the soft, clear voice lingered in her ears and instantly awakened certain memories that were etched into Yu Wanyin's bones.
Memories of him in bed.
Chu Yu usually spoke to her with a somewhat aloof air.
But she often used such a low, soothing voice to comfort him in bed.
His voice sounded gentle and unguarded, but only she knew the horrific things he was doing.
Yu Wanyin steadied herself on the table. "Then, you can decide."
She made a move to get up, but suddenly her wrist was grabbed and she was pulled down.
Chu Yu's strength was not overwhelming, but it could easily leave people with no room to resist.
Yu Wanyin staggered back to her seat, her unsteady body causing her to bump into the man without warning.
Chu Yu seemed to have anticipated this, and reached out to catch her.
His voice came from beside my ear, "I still need your approval."
Yu Wanyin quickly sat up straight. "I understand."
She picked up the pen and ink, and her usually neat handwriting became somewhat erratic and crooked.
She hastily wrote down her thoughts, got up, informed Gu Hong, and hurriedly left the main hall.
Chu Yu remained seated, looking at Yu Wanyin's somewhat chaotic handwriting, a smile curving his lips as if he had achieved his goal.
Yao Yao's heart was in turmoil.
How could someone who was once so close and whose body had been intimate countless times so easily treat it as just an ordinary relationship?
Chu Yu picked up the cup of tea placed beside him, his dark eyes as deep as a cold pool.
He refused to believe it; the traces and feelings he had painstakingly left on her, the ultimate pleasure he had experienced.
She can't remember anything at all.
If he can't remember, then it's his fault for not trying hard enough.
Yu Wanyin set off back to the hospital in a panic.
Rong Si was not in the courtyard; no one knew where he had gone.
Rong Si is a restless person; it's a pipe dream to expect him to stay quietly in the courtyard and paint.
In her own courtyard, Yu Wanyin was able to find some peace and quiet.
The sunlight was clear in the pavilion, and the shadows of the trees rustled in the breeze. As she walked across the covered bridge, she could still hear her own heart pounding wildly.
Yu Wanyin sighed softly.
However, upon returning to the pavilion, she was shocked to see that the pure white lily of the valley she had painted was now enveloped by ink smudges spreading outwards, eagerly filled with thick black ink.
Yu Wanyin's heart skipped a beat. She didn't know what she was thinking, but she hurriedly crumpled up the painting she had casually picked up and threw it away.
Perhaps out of boredom, Rong Si drew a few more pictures.
But Yu Wanyin couldn't tell at all whether what he painted was a lily of the valley.
They were all stained by his ink.
The feeling of painting something and then getting it dirty is quite subtle.
Yu Wanyin was a little hesitant to let him practice painting anymore.
She told someone to pack up the things in the pavilion and take them back to their room. Rong Si didn't return until around evening.
During this season, he somehow acquired several pots of lily of the valley and placed them inside the house.
When asked what it was used for, Rong Si dodged the question and gave an evasive answer.
Rong Si would never tell her that he saw lilies of the valley in Chu Yu Villa and that he was jealous.
I just said I like it.
Growing flowers really only requires a love for them.
There aren't that many reasons.
However, Rong Si sometimes likes to touch the flower, gently pinching its petals.
He accidentally damaged the flower, and then quickly tried to fix it.
Yu Wanyin remembered that Chu Yu also liked to grow lilies of the valley.
There used to be one at the Prime Minister's residence, and now she occasionally passes by Chu Yu's villa.
However, he cultivated them in a slightly different way; he liked to confine the soft lily of the valley branches in flowerpots with a fence made of grass and wood.
If it leans out, he will tie it back with a rope.
That's strange.
Seeing these two scenes every day when she went out made Yu Wanyin feel extremely strange.
She always felt it was a bit of a coincidence.
It was as if the two men were secretly competing, even in their flower-growing habits.
The last autumn hunt in mid-autumn.
The royal family was formed because there are many hunting enthusiasts within the royal family nowadays.
Before the hunting ban, everyone wanted to join in the fun.
In addition, Gu Hong was a traditional general from the Central Plains.
He has a deep affection for autumn hunting, but since the beginning of autumn he has been busy with various matters and has not had any free time to hunt.
Not to mention Rong Si's gang.
Upon hearing this, everyone excitedly went to prepare bows and arrows, and some even led out their horses to wash them.
Yu Wanyin wasn't good at hunting, but that didn't stop her from enjoying playing in the mountains.
The scenery in the mountains is at its best during this golden autumn season.
On the day of departure, Yu Wanyin finished grooming her horse and said to Rong Si, "You guys go hunting, I can go with Qin Yuan."
Rong Si was also itching to go on the autumn hunt.
He agreed, but cautioned, "Don't go to places that are too dangerous; there are no eyes for knives and arrows in the deep forest."
Yu Wanyin reassured him, "I can't go to places that are too dangerous."
Rong Si hung the water bag aside, gave Qin Yuan a few more instructions, and then turned and left.
Unexpectedly, just as Rong Si took a few steps, Chu Yu seemed to have found an opportunity.
After finishing his work, Chu Yu avoided Rong Si and went directly to Yu Wanyin's side, saying, "Qin Yuan alone is probably not enough."
"It just so happens that I don't like hunting, so I'll go with you."
Soon, Rong Si turned back after taking just one step.
Qin Yuan, standing to the side, was stunned. "Why are you back again?"
Rong Si succinctly replied, "I'm tired of fighting."
Qin Yuan was quite surprised.
You're already tired of fighting so quickly?
Is there still a place for her?
Rong Si took Yu Wanyin's water pouch and hung it on himself first. "Come on, I know how to go into the mountains. I'll take you in."
Yu Wanyin looked at Chu Yu strangely, then at Rong Si.
Qin Yuan glanced at the three of them and scratched her head.
Chu Yu was quite generous, "Then let's go together."
Yu Wanyin's eyelids twitched. They're together again?
