Chapter Twenty-Nine
Lin Rong was terribly cold, and even her mind was starting to feel foggy.
The weather in late spring was damp, cold, and gloomy. Her thick Hu robe hung heavily after being soaked in water, and the buttons on the collar popped open, causing the robe to droop and soak in the turquoise river water, which made her snow-white skin on her shoulders appear even more dazzling.
Lin Rong was wearing only a light pink undergarment underneath her robes, with a thin ribbon hanging around her slender neck, which was damp with water.
The crystal-clear dewdrops followed the red ribbon, falling all the way into the snowy, beautiful cleavage on her chest.
Lin Rong was unaware that her disheveled, wet hair made her look exactly like a mountain fox at night, extremely alluring and seductive. However, she was clearly inexperienced and ignorant about matters of the heart.
Lin Rong stared blankly at people with her moist almond-shaped eyes, which was quite amusing.
Fragile and easily broken objects usually evoke Pei Zan's hidden murderous intent.
Perhaps it was Pei Zan's narrow, phoenix-shaped eyes that were dark, but his long fingers lightly rested on the back of Lin Rong's head, subtly tapping and urging her.
Lin Rong finally made another move.
She knew this was one of Pei Zan's punishments.
He was a strong and healthy man, unafraid of the cold, but Lin Rong was not. If she continued soaking, she might faint and freeze to death here.
Perhaps it was Lin Rong's strong will to survive, but she couldn't help but press herself against Pei Zan, pressing her soft, bulging breasts against his broad chest.
Through the thin layer of clothing, Lin Rong could feel Pei Zan's smooth muscle lines; it was a strong and muscular male body, radiating a vibrant heat.
Lin Rong lowered her head and kissed Pei Zan's cold, hard lips again.
She stuck out her tongue, a touch of red like a hibiscus, and licked Pei Zan, carefully exploring and feeling it.
She didn't know how far to kiss him, but she knew that Pei Zan tacitly approved of her using this method to beg for mercy in exchange for a little pity.
Lin Rong was so cold that her lips and teeth were numb. Like a butterfly drawn to light, she knew that Pei Zan's ghostly flame had little warmth left, but she still crashed into him as if to destroy herself.
Lin Rong, still half-asleep, reached for Pei Zan's tightly closed lips, trying to draw warmth from his mouth.
A strange and eerie sandalwood scent wafted out, enveloping Lin Rong and imprisoning her like shackles.
A ripple appeared on the dark river water, and Lin Rong was suddenly startled. She felt Pei Zan's fingers climbing up the back of her neck.
Two delicate fingers hooked the thin strap of the pocket and slowly pulled it away, bringing a slightly ticklish sensation that made one shiver.
With his other hand, Pei Zan rolled over Lin Rong's rounded shoulder and pushed off her undergarments.
That wad of soft red cloth was loosely tied around his waist.
He let her kiss him haphazardly, and deliberately wrapped Lin Rong's slender forearm around his strong shoulder, letting her hang helplessly on him.
Lin Rong was indeed at a loss. She couldn't swim, and her snow-white legs were wrapped around Pei Zan, as if he were the only piece of driftwood she could cling to while drowning.
Even if Lin Rong was slow-witted, she knew how bad the current situation of close family ties was.
She was stripped naked and trapped in the man's arms.
Lin Rong blinked, her lips paused, and before she could react in confusion, her lower lip stung again.
Pei Zan punished her for being distracted by biting her.
Lin Rong frowned, wanting to glare at him but not daring to. The girl lowered her eyes and tried her best to appear submissive.
Perhaps because her reaction was indeed amusing, Pei Zan felt a little better.
Pei Zan took the initiative, pinching her pointed chin and kissing her.
The man was very strong; his delicate fingers pressed against the back of her neck, preventing her from escaping even an inch.
Lin Rong's breath was suddenly blocked. She trembled in confusion as she felt Pei Zan's tongue, which was soft and hot, entwining her lips and swallowing her saliva, as if he wanted to devour her whole.
Pei Zan's tall, imposing figure loomed over her, exuding an overwhelming sense of aggression, like a thick, dark wall of mist that gradually swallowed up the petite Lin Rong.
Lin Rong was kissed until she was dizzy and her lips ached, and a little blood seeped out. It tasted salty and rusty, which Pei Zan swallowed.
Lin Rong had no idea what he was eating or what he was being fed.
To be fair, Pei Zan had a strong scent of incense and sandalwood, and his lips and teeth had a slightly bitter tea flavor and a light wine aroma, which was quite intoxicating and did not displease her.
But Pei Zan's kiss deepened, and the forceful kiss gradually overwhelmed Lin Rong. Her breath was completely drained, and she didn't want to drown in the kiss. She tried her best to tilt her head back and call for help.
His high, straight nose gently brushed against her collarbone.
The bubbling tongue finally traced its way down her chin and pecked at her shoulder.
Then, they continued swimming downwards.
He took her in his mouth.
Lin Rong was startled, and her eyes filled with tears.
An electric shock shot through her spine, and she couldn't help but tremble.
The lotus hidden in the undergarment...
That was a place that had never been touched by anyone else.
Pei Zan actually held it between his teeth.
Lin Rong dared not lower her head; she was terrified and kicked and struggled helplessly, trying to get away.
Pei Zan didn't give her a chance. He grabbed her slender knee with his hand and dragged her back to her narrow waist.
"Lin Rong...bear with it."
Pei Zan was pleased with her fear and anxiety, and he deliberately forced her to endure it.
Lin Rong couldn't escape; she could only feel the slippery, wet grip.
She obediently wrapped her arms around Pei Zan, her insteps overlapping his tall, imposing back, locking them tightly together.
...
After some teasing, Lin Rong was on the verge of death and was carried out of the lake by Pei Zan.
The Hu-style clothing was crumpled into a ball and haphazardly wrapped around Lin Rong's body. She was panting heavily and could barely speak.
After sobbing for a while, the girl's cherry lips parted slightly, her eyes flushed, and her eyes glistened with tears.
Not only were her lips slightly swollen from being kissed, but her chest was also covered in mottled red marks.
The hickeys were almost all over his body, carrying the stench of malicious bites, causing a slight stinging pain.
Lin Rong didn't want to recall what Pei Zan had forced her to do just now.
She had no idea that her place could be used for such intimate acts, even between the teeth... Pei Zan was very clever, using so many flirtatious and teasing methods.
Pei Zan seemed somewhat satisfied, her delicate brows relaxed, as if her anger had subsided.
He carried Lin Rong onto the horse, imprisoning her in his arms, and whispered a warning: "Lin Rong, if there is a next time, I will kill you with my own hands."
Lin Rong didn't dare to say anything more. She lowered her head meekly, her calf touching the quiver containing arrows, and then glanced at Sesame, who was staggering after her.
Lin Rong's nose tingled with emotion, and she whispered, "Young Master, there's something else."
"What is it?" Pei Zan slightly lifted his thin eyelids and looked at her calmly.
After hesitating for a long time, Lin Rong finally spoke: "Sesame is injured. Could you find someone to help it heal its wounds?"
Pei Zan scoffed when he heard her pleading for a scraggly horse: "Well done, you're kind... whatever."
"Thank you." Lin Rong breathed a sigh of relief.
As her panic subsided, she became too weak and swayed unsteadily before collapsing into Pei Zan's arms.
As Pei Zan's concubine after all, when Lin Rong's body went limp and she almost fell off the saddle, Pei Zan reached out and caught her.
Pei Zan pulled her back into his arms, and as he rode back to camp, he looked back at her once more.
The scraggly horse that Lin Rong wanted to protect followed Mo Yu, staggering and swaying as it caught up.
Its rump was injured, and its hoof was stained with blood. Despite the intense pain, it did not utter a sound.
Pei Zan remembered it; it was a foal born from mating with the warhorse Mo Yu during her mating season. After giving birth, the mare, perhaps thinking it was too weak and wouldn't live long, simply abandoned it and ran away.
Mo Yu also disliked the foal. Even though the warhorse could recognize its own offspring, it never got close to the mixed-breed horse.
Pei Zan had thought the horse had died of illness or starvation long ago, but he never expected that it would grow so big after several years.
Pei Zan raised the corners of his lips slightly, looking quite intrigued.
That's interesting. In just a few days, Lin Rong tamed such an unruly wild horse and even made it recognize her as its master. I really don't know what kind of methods she used.
Pei Zan glanced at it indifferently, then looked away and ignored the scraggly horse.
If a horse is injured, a groom will come forward to treat the wound, so the groom doesn't have to worry about it.
Back at the military camp, Pei Zan removed Lin Rong's Hu robe, undergarments, and trousers, then rummaged through a trunk and found a blue shirt, wrapped Lin Rong up completely, and stuffed her into the soft couch.
Perhaps it was because they heard Lin Rong curled up in her sleep, coughing and murmuring that she was cold.
Pei Zan's eyes darkened slightly. He turned back, pulled her shrunken hand away, pressed it onto the pillow, and took her pulse.
The man's rough fingertips pressed down on the cold, skinny wrist, pressing heavily into the flesh.
Pei Zan used great force, and even though Lin Rong was fast asleep, she felt uneasy. She instinctively tried to dodge, but was instead gripped in his palm by an even stronger force.
Lin Rong couldn't help but tremble, and finally gave up resisting.
Her obedience pleased Pei Zan, and the grip on her finally loosened a bit.
Pei Zan checked Lin Rong's pulse.
However, the cold air invaded his body, causing a fever, but he won't die.
Pei Zan lifted the curtain and went out, instructing a soldier to fetch medicine from the physician, prepare it, and then deliver it to the main tent.
News of Pei Zan's return quickly spread throughout the military camp.
Zheng Zhiming learned the whole story of the whip marks from Zheng Huiyin. He pointed at his sister and scolded her with exasperation, "That's the Grand Commander's concubine, what business is it of yours?! It's the Grand Commander's private affairs, how dare you, an outsider, interfere? You deserve to be whipped!"
Zheng Huiyin didn't expect Lin Rong to actually dare to escape, but when she thought of Pei Zan's unpredictable mood, she felt secretly relieved: Good riddance!
Zheng Huiyin was used to being pampered, and she felt resentful when Zheng Zhiming scolded her for no reason.
She retorted, sticking her neck out: "Rong'er is so pitiful, she couldn't stand Governor Pei, of course she had to run away! Besides, Rong'er is very sensible, I even consider her my little sister. Brother, if you knew Rong'er, you would like her too."
Upon hearing this, Zheng Zhiming broke out in a cold sweat, wishing he could cover his sister's mouth: "Shut up! How could I dare to like her?!"
Just from the fact that Pei Zan could bring her to the military camp and keep her in the main tent, he knew this woman was no ordinary person! She might even give birth to Pei Zan's children in the future. How could he dare to offend such a concubine? He wished he could treat her with the utmost respect!
Zheng Zhiming became increasingly frightened as he thought about it. He still had to take Zheng Huiyin to apologize, after all, the horse that ran away was a gift from Zheng Huiyin to Lin Rong... Pei Zan might think that Zheng Huiyin was incredibly audacious and dared to instigate his beloved concubine to run away!
Before Zheng Zhiming could pull his sister out of the tent, a tall man in black robes was already standing silently behind the curtain.
Zheng Zhiming felt his scalp tingle and his heart skip a beat.
It was actually Pei Zan who condescended to come and inspect in person.
Zheng Zhiming hurriedly pressed Zheng Huiyin down to kneel, and said with trepidation, "What happened today was all Ayin's fault. I will definitely discipline her properly in the future!"
Pei Zan's gaze was icy and intimidating, his cold stare almost tangible as it landed on the tops of their heads. "If there is a next time, I will not let you off lightly."
"Yes! Ah Yin is young and inexperienced, please forgive her this time, Grand Commander. Ah Yin has realized her mistake and will never do it again."
Zheng Zhiming nudged his sister with his elbow and squeezed out through gritted teeth, "Grandma, say something..."
Zheng Huiyin squeezed out a sentence through gritted teeth: "Yes, please forgive me, Governor Pei."
Upon hearing this, Pei Zan's face turned cold, and he remained silent.
He ignored the two men and turned to leave the tent.
