Marry someone else
"Gesan, stop picking it up with your mouth!" Wen Jingzhao gently pinched the dog's head and shook the water off his hands.
Gesan tilted his head, thinking he was playing with it, and jumped a few times.
When He Yingchun and the other person came in, he looked up in some surprise. Their eyes met and there was no sound for a long time.
"I'll go into the house first." The atmosphere was awkward and the mother was in a dilemma. She simply left the space to the two of them, picked up Gesan, closed the door and went into the house.
He Yingchun scratched her hands, looking a little unnatural, and asked knowingly, "Is this a wedding dress?"
Wen Jingzhao nodded in agreement.
"Oh." He Yingchun also nodded, looked around, and pretended to be indifferent and asked, "You... are getting married?"
Wen Jingzhao didn't answer. His silent eyes reflected a little starlight in the night sky, and he stared at her closely. "Yes."
He Yingchun forced a smile, "Yeah."
Wen Jingzhao gritted his teeth and stared straight into her eyes, "Nothing else to say?"
He Yingchun's hands were shaking, and it felt like her voice wasn't her own. "Congratulations."
She pinched her knuckles to suppress her trembling hands. Why was she so disappointing? She had already made a plan. Wen Jingzhao would marry the daughter of Lord Ma, escape from slavery, and vindicate her father.
Then she could live peacefully in the noodle shop and lead her own life.
"Anything else?" Wen Jingzhao raised his eyelashes, his eyes were dark and bottomless.
What else could she say? He Yingchun suppressed the bitterness in her eyes and smiled, "I'll move out soon." The house was rented by Wen Jingzhao, and He Yingchun couldn't stay here. "When the time comes, I'll ask Mom if she's willing to stay at the noodle shop and help out."
When the evening breeze blew, a scent of green grass was wafted in the air. He Yingchun then realized that the tree in the yard had sprouted buds, and it seemed that spring had arrived.
My dizzy head became a little clearer.
"Gesan and Mimi..." He Yingchun choked up. She wanted to take both little ones away.
Wen Jingzhao clenched his fists. Very good, even the cats and dogs have been arranged clearly. He turned his head away, not looking at her face. "Okay, since you have arranged it so well, I will do as you say."
Wen Jingzhao took a step forward and stood still. His eyes were cold and filled with a deep, dark color, as if he wanted to suck her in, leaving her unable to see the bottom. "I'm getting married, and I hope you'll do me the honor of coming over."
He Yingchun's eyes fell on a lonely little yellow flower among the weeds. The yard had not been taken care of for a long time, and she didn't know when it grew. It swayed in the still chilly night.
She nodded, avoided the red wedding dress, and walked into the house, wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes with her fingers. "It's my duty."
When Wen Jingzhao saw her enter the house, his face darkened, and he didn't say what he wanted to say. He didn't know whether he should be angry with He Yingchun or with himself. He rubbed his throbbing temples, looked at the bright red wedding dress, suddenly pulled it off the rope, rolled it up in his hand, and turned to go back into the house.
The night is long. Some people sleep soundly, some toss and turn, and some keep their eyes open, staring at the ceiling, their tears soaking into their pillows.
He Yingchun didn't dare cry loudly for fear of waking her mother. She bit her lip and tears fell, big drops flowing from the corners of her eyes into her black hair.
It was good, everything was going as she imagined, but it was a little sad.
It was so sad. He Yingchun blinked hard, and her whole body felt like she had fallen into an ice cellar. The sadness in her chest was so heavy that she couldn't breathe.
Mimi seemed to be woken up, crawled over, leaned on her cheek, and gently licked away her tears. "Meow~"
"Shh." He Yingchun gently pressed his forehead against Mimi Maomao's face, rubbed it, put on his clothes, and carried the cat to the main room.
She first stirred the fire with a fire poker, and the flames gradually became stronger. Then she took a few potatoes and sweet potatoes from the back room, buried them in the fire, and slowly roasted her hands in front of the fire.
Looking at the dancing flames, stroking Mimi's fur bit by bit, he gradually calmed down.
The potatoes were cooked. He Yingchun took out one and slowly peeled it. Suddenly, she remembered that the last time she ate potatoes was with Wen Jingzhao. She paused and crystal tears fell on the potato.
She buried her face in Mimi's back, slowly lowered her head, and sobbed softly.
I really want to go home.
Wen Jingzhao also didn't sleep, tossing and turning, thinking back to what He Yingchun said, he was so angry that his liver ached. He heard some noise outside the door, opened his eyes, put on his clothes and opened the door.
He Yingchun sat on a small stool in front of the stove, holding a potato, her nose red and her eyes full of tears.
He paused, sighed, and wondered what was he still doing.
Wen Jingzhao walked up and held her in his arms, feeling He Yingchun's thin shoulders trembling slightly, and the wetness spreading from her left shoulder seemed to seep all the way to his heart.
With no one to comfort her, He Yingchun would have cried silently, but when Wen Jingzhao came to hug her, like before, she couldn't help crying out loud, pushing him away and saying, "You...you stay away from me...you are...getting married..." As she spoke, she hiccuped, tears and snot streaming down her face. She was so sad, but she still hadn't forgotten that he was getting married.
Wen Jingzhao frowned as he watched her burping while pushing him. Mimi jumped to the ground and grabbed his shoes, making a "chi chi" sound, which made him laugh out of anger.
"Who should I marry?" Wen Jingzhao asked her patiently, "Ma...Master Ma's daughter." He Yingchun forgot the name.
He sighed and continued, "Who told you I was going to marry her?"
He Yingchun couldn't say she overheard it, so she wiped away her tears with her hand and said, "I guessed it."
Guess?
Wen Jingzhao put his fingers on her shoulder and squeezed it hard. "Ah, it hurts!" He Yingchun shrank back.
"Okay, you still feel the pain, you're not hopelessly stupid."
He Yingchun was bewildered. "What?"
"Put on your clothes." Wen Jingzhao asked her to put on thick clothes, and he also put on the clothes he was wearing. "Where are you going?" He Yingchun followed him out the door with only a pair of eyes exposed.
She looked up and saw the crescent moon hanging quietly in the dark night sky. The stars were twinkling in the dark sky like crystal gems, beautiful and dazzling, a night scene that could not be seen in the daytime.
Wen Jingzhao walked in front and said coldly, "I'll sell you out." He grabbed He Yingchun's arm and exerted force with his fingertips.
His sudden words sounded like a joke. He Yingchun was stunned, her eyes curved and she smiled.
The two walked forward silently. He Yingchun consciously followed Wen Jingzhao forward. He gradually stopped holding her hand and walked side by side holding her hand.
Soft moonlight caressed the branches, casting mottled black shadows. He Yingchun stepped one foot into the shadow, the other into the moonlight. All around was quiet, as if they were the only two people in the world. She walked forward with a certain excitement, thinking of nothing else, wishing time could stop at this moment.
Wen Jingzhao brought her to a stop in front of a house. He took out the key from his arms, opened the door, and lit the lantern at the door.
He Yingchun was stunned. "This house..."
"I bought it." Wen Jingzhao lowered his head and looked at her. The light from the lantern shone on his face, and there was a tiny light in his eyes.
The layout of the house is somewhat similar to the one I rent now, except that it has two more rooms and the yard is larger and more regular. There is a very thick tree and another one next to it, which is thinner and nestled against the thick one. It is still bare now, but if it were summer, you would probably be able to see it.
He Yingchun looked around and nodded slightly, "You have bought the house..." Now that you have the house and the wedding dress, all you need is the bride.
Wen Jingzhao pushed open the door and motioned for her to follow him in.
After entering, there was no smell of dust as He Yingchun had imagined, but instead a refreshing scent of soapberries.
Wen Jingzhao lit the oil lamps around him, and the interior decoration of the room became clearer.
It was indeed bigger than the house she had rented before. He Yingchun couldn't help but look at the pot first. It looked clean, like a new pot.
There was also a pair of knives hanging on the side, which also looked new.
The kitchen was the neatest and looked meticulously decorated, and He Yingchun felt a little strange.
When I walked into the inner room, I could see the porcelain vase and the flowers inside. It was very similar to the one I gave her before, but the color was a little different. It was a light purple, fresh and natural.
He Yingchun felt a little sad. These flowers were even more beautiful than the one given to her. She sat down on the bed and blinked, "Why did you bring me here?"
Wen Jingzhao leaned against the wall, folding his arms, "Let me show you our new home."
He Yingchun nodded, was silent for a few seconds, and then asked, "Are you going to move into the new house?"
Wen Jingzhao nodded, wondering why she asked, "Move."
She calculated the days and suddenly asked, "Can the rent over there be refunded? If not, I'll live there first and pay you the original rent."
Wen Jingzhao frowned in confusion, then gritted his teeth, put his hands on his hips and turned his back to her, sighing slowly, "He Yingchun, are you a fool?"
He turned around, bent down, put his hands on her shoulders, and looked directly into He Yingchun's eyes. "Did I tell you in person that I was going to marry someone else? Do I really not let you trust me? Did the words I told you go unheard?"
He Yingchun was bewildered. Wen Jingzhao said slowly, "Our new home is our home, you and me."
You and me, that's us, our home.
"Aren't you going to marry..."
Wen Jingzhao interrupted her, "Who told you I was going to marry someone else?"
He really didn't say, "I accidentally heard you and Zhang Chao talking about... Lord Ma wants you to marry his daughter, he... he can help you..."
"So you made a deal with Heng Yusheng so that I would marry someone else?" Wen Jingzhao asked her. She looked up in surprise. "How did you know?"
Wen Jingzhao walked forward, gently touched her head, and said something sarcastic, "Then I have to thank you for going to great lengths to help me win this beautiful woman."
At this point, He Yingchun understood that she was thinking too simply. Wen Jingzhao had never thought about marrying anyone else.
"I'm sorry, I acted on my own."
Wen Jingzhao slowly shook his head and smiled bitterly, "It's just that I didn't expect that I am this kind of person in your heart."
He Yingchun stood up and grabbed his arm. "I ran into Huo San again. Lord Ma also knows my mother's and my identities. I'm afraid, Wen Jingzhao, if my identity is exposed one day, you will definitely be implicated..."
She raised her eyes and smiled softly, but her eyes were filled with sadness. "Wen Jingzhao, I don't want to be a burden to you..."
Wen Jingzhao looked into her eyes, his heart skipped a beat, and he was silent for a long time. He put his palm on her shoulder, tightened his arms, and his warm breath brushed over He Yingchun's earlobe, hugging her greedily.
How can you be a burden, He Yingchun, you are my unique treasure.
