Speak the truth

Speak the truth

The three scar-faced men were extremely cautious. They turned left and right and came to a house. Wen Jingzhao and Zhang Chao led their men in, but found only a child playing in the yard and an old woman cleaning the house. The child was squatting on the ground, covered in urine and mud. They were so scared that they cried out.

When questioned, the child said that he didn't see anyone come in. The child was so scared that he couldn't get any information.

"I'm afraid he escaped through the back door." Zhang Chao spat, "What a cunning fellow!"

Wen Jingzhao went to the backyard and looked at the low wall. There were several chaotic footprints on it. He pinched the soil on it with his index finger and thumb, and looked at the houses around him. Most of the backyards had high walls.

"Send someone to search secretly around here. They might be nearby."

The original destination of the three people was this area. It seemed that they turned into someone else's house temporarily because they had discovered a few people and were in a hurry. But they happened to choose a house with only elderly people and children at home and a backyard that they could climb out. Maybe it was a coincidence, or maybe they had some knowledge of the surrounding environment in advance.

"No." Wen Jingzhao suddenly said, "These footprints are not going in the right direction."

Zhang Chao looked at where he pointed. There were a lot of footprints. It was normal for people to flee in a panic. "Three people were running away in a hurry, one on top of the other. What could be wrong?... Why are there so many directions for these footprints?"

The two men jumped down to investigate. Although there were footprints on the ground, they were obviously left by passers-by walking around. However, there was no sign of the three people running away. Zhang Chao put his hands on his hips and asked suspiciously, "Did these people fly away?"

Wen Jingzhao placed his hands on the earthen wall, jumped lightly, and flipped his long legs in the air, returning to the small courtyard of the old woman's house.

Zhang Chao stared at his long legs and clicked his tongue, "Long legs are good." He leaned against the pile of stones at the base of the wall and said, "Hey! Give me a hand." Wen Jingzhao looked him up and down, stretched out his hand, and Zhang Chao jumped into the yard.

Since the person didn't escape in the backyard, he could only stay in the yard.

The two men hurried to the front yard. "Hurry up, and finish this quickly," said Wen Jingzhao.

Zhang Chao ordered the others, "Check the room again!" He walked towards the old woman and grabbed her neck. "Tell me! Where is the person?"

"What are you talking about, sir! I... I don't know!" The old woman cried with tears and snot, and knelt on the ground, "Haven't the sirs checked it all? I, an old woman, really don't know! Damn it! Someone come! Someone is killing people!!" The old woman saw that something was wrong and began to cry at the top of her voice.

Wen Jingzhao drew his sword directly from his waist and pointed the blade at the old woman's neck. A trace of blood instantly appeared. "Who told you that we are military masters?"

The old woman's expression changed, her eyes became weak, and she looked into the house, "I...I...I guessed it!!" The old woman suddenly said, "Help! Someone is killing someone!" She kept repeating the same few words over and over again.

The soldiers over there searched the house thoroughly but found no one.

"Nothing was found?" Zhang Chao wondered. "How could three men just disappear out of thin air?" Wen Jingzhao retracted his sword. "Let's go and take a look."

The two men took the old woman in, "Tell me! Where are they?" Zhang Chao pushed his men hard, and the old woman wailed, "I'm going to die! I'm going to die! I really don't know!" After a few words, she urinated, and the closed little room instantly smelled of urine.

"Tsk, take her away!" Unable to get anything out of her, Zhang Chao had her taken away.

There were a lot of things in the room, all turned upside down. Wen Jingzhao and Zhang Chao stopped in the east room. "Even the shit in the toilet was stirred up, there's not even a fart. Could we be wrong?"

Zhang Chao pulled aside the messy bedding on the bed, sat on it, rubbed his face, and punched the bed board, making a hollow "bang" sound.

He reached out and knocked. Wen Jingzhao lifted up all the cushions and clicked with his index finger, "Bang! Bang!"

The two men looked at each other. Zhang Chao picked up a stool leg. Wen Jingzhao drew his sword and lifted the bed board with one hand.

Zhang Chao said silently, "Three, two, one."

"open!"

"Hey!!!"

As soon as the bed board was opened, the man with the scar suddenly jumped into the air and rushed towards the two of them. Wen Jingzhao was prepared and swung his dagger at the other's abdomen.

Zhang Chao was hit head-on with a stick, and the scarred man dodged downwards, but was stabbed by Wen Jingzhao's dagger. He retreated in pain, his face distorted, and his attack was ruthless.

The sound of knives and sticks clashing was heard, and two other people jumped out from under the wooden board. These two people were not very strong and had no method, but they specialized in attacking people's lower parts, grabbing Zhang Chao and causing him pain.

“Shit, shit, shit!!”

“Someone come!!”

The shadows of knives crossed each other, and Wen Jingzhao was hit by the scarred man. He used a sharp knife, which stabbed directly into Wen Jingzhao's shoulder, and blood came out instantly.

Wen Jingzhao's dagger stabbed into the opponent's right chest at the same time, and the knife penetrated deep into the bone. "Ah!" He kicked the opponent's leg hard, twisted his arm behind his back with one hand, pressed it to the ground, and used a short stool to hold the scarred man's head, making him unable to move.

"Ah!! Kill you!! I will kill you!!" Scarface struggled on the ground, blood spurting out of his right chest.

Wen Jingzhao tied his hands behind his back, and he could only struggle on the spot.

Scarface was restrained, and the other two were no match for him. "Tie them up with ropes, tie them up tightly!" Zhang Chao threw the stick aside.

Seeing that he couldn't break free, Scarface was silent for a moment, then suddenly clamped Wen Jingzhao's legs and yelled, "Third Master! Run!!"

Oh no! Wen Jingzhao's expression changed. He kicked Scarface's leg away and rushed out with Zhang Chao to see that the old woman had attacked ruthlessly. She had knocked down the soldier guarding him, snatched the other's knife, and cut his throat with a single blow.

His eyes were fierce, completely different from the scared look just now. A smile appeared on the corner of his mouth. He turned around and ran to the still crying child. He grabbed the collar of the child's clothes and slashed the child's face with a knife.

"Let them all go!" He spoke, and it was clearly a man's voice.

"Impossible! Let the child go! I can still spare your life!" Zhang Chao shouted angrily.

The old woman cut the child's leg with a knife, "Ah!!!" the child cried with his mouth wide open in pain.

Wen Jingzhao entered the room, dragged Scarface out, and said in a deep voice, "Let him go first!"

The old woman squeezed the child's neck tightly and said, "I said three!"

"Don't go too far!" Zhang Chao gritted his teeth. Lord Ma specifically instructed them not to hurt the civilians. No one knew whose family the child belonged to. If he really died here, it would be difficult for them to explain.

Zhang Chao winked and said, "Bring them all out!"

"Untie the rope!"

Wen Jingzhao put his hand on the knife at his waist, and before the ropes of the three people were cut, he suddenly attacked, and the tip of the knife pierced the other's wrist. The old woman felt pain from the blow, and the long knife fell to the ground.

Zhang Chao immediately rushed forward and kicked the old woman in the heart, while Wen Jingzhao snatched the child away, rolled on the ground a few times, and finally stood still.

Seeing that something was wrong, the other party waved her hand and sprinkled white powder. Zhang Chao covered his mouth and nose. When the white powder dissipated, the old woman also disappeared.

"They've escaped again!" Zhang Chao kicked Scarface, "Tie them all up!"

After several inquiries, they finally pried out the information from the three people that the rest of the bandits were scattered in several places. If they wanted to contact them, they could go to the teahouse. However, Scarface never told them the contact information, and the other two did not know the contact information.

The child was stolen from someone else's home, so Zhang Chao sent someone to the government office to see if anyone had recently reported losing a child.

After struggling for most of the day, they did get some results. "But we didn't catch the third in command. If he was caught, the other bandits would probably have dispersed." Zhang Chao felt it was a pity.

Wen Jingzhao nodded, "They will definitely be more cautious after this. Some people will continue to stake out the teahouse, while others will search private homes, especially those rented out."

Zhang Chao nodded and said yes.

Both of them were injured and went to the hospital to get medicine. They were extremely exhausted and went home.

He Yingchun and her mother had already eaten. He Yingchun was a little surprised to see him come back. "What do you want to eat..." She suddenly thought of her plan and paused. "I wonder if you will be back in the evening. You can see what you want to eat and heat it up yourself."

Wen Jingzhao nodded, "Okay."

"In the daytime, I saw you and Heng Yusheng at the door of the noodle shop." He said again, staring at He Yingchun, watching her expression.

He Yingchun looked calm and said, "Well, I made some new tables and chairs. I asked him to help."

"Why didn't you call me?" Wen Jingzhao suddenly remembered that he had been away for the past few days, and asked, "Why didn't you call Li Bin?"

"Li Bin has her own things to do while you're away, and Boss Heng happened to say he had nothing to do recently, so he called her."

"Didn't I tell you not to contact him?" Wen Jingzhao frowned and put the steamed buns into the pot.

"What does it have to do with you who I contact? Boss Heng is humble and polite, and she has profound attainments in cooking. I also want to learn from her experience." He Yingchun avoided her gaze and didn't look at him.

"What's the relationship?" Wen Jingzhao looked at him with a serious look. "What do you mean by our relationship?"

He walked towards her, and He Yingchun took a small step back without saying a word.

"Stay away from him." Wen Jingzhao put his hand on her shoulder and touched her earlobe.

He Yingchun dodged his hand and said, "Impossible! I told you we should learn from each other's experience!"

She took another small step back, putting some distance between them.

Wen Jingzhao lowered his hands and looked down at her, trying to judge He Yingchun's emotions through her expression. "I've told you that Heng Yusheng's identity is questionable. Don't interact with him too much."

"What could I be suspicious of? She's the owner of such a big restaurant, what else could she possibly want from me?" He Yingchun noticed Jing Zhao was about to say something and avoided his gaze. "Hey, stop being so suspicious."

"I'm suspicious? You think I'm suspicious?" Wen Jingzhao raised his voice, half of his face in the shadows, looking particularly cold.

"No..." He Yingchun turned her back, "...I'm no longer a little maid in that mansion. I know what kind of people I should make friends with. Don't worry about it." She walked into the house.

Wen Jingzhao didn't know why she was like this today, so he grabbed her hand and asked, "What's wrong with you?"

He Yingchun paused, without turning around, and pulled her hand back with difficulty. "I just suddenly felt recently that life is quite long." Her voice was a little dry, "I will meet a lot of people..."

"You will meet other people you like... If... If you meet someone, don't worry about me." He Yingchun exhaled slowly, and pressed the index finger of one hand hard on the tiger's mouth, the pain making people sober up.

The pot boiled and made a gurgling sound.

Wen Jingzhao raised his hand, then slowly withdrew it. His voice trembled, "So, you, did you meet him?"

"Hmm." The light voice fell into his heart, echoing one sentence after another, stirring up the emotion that lasted for a long time.
