Celestial Moon Palace Undercover Room 5
"I have my own way," the Palace Master said, not answering Xie Guijin's question, but only saying, "In short, from the moment you transformed into the Jade Rabbit, Xue Linchuan should have also become Wu Gang. Perhaps it is because he died before and his soul was damaged, and he fell into a coma as soon as he possessed Wu Gang."
"After the celestial physician's diagnosis, we speculate that his soul is bound to yours, and your presence allows him to better integrate with beings from all realms. You left the Moon Palace immediately after possessing the Jade Rabbit, while he possessed Wu Gang at the same time. Because his soul was damaged, the integration was hindered, so he is unconscious. Why don't you stay by his side for a while and see if he wakes up on his own?"
After saying that, the temple master turned to leave.
Xie Guijin quickly stopped him, saying, "Hey, the punishments for Hou Yi and Chang'e were inappropriate. We haven't finished talking yet."
"You really are persistent. Let me tell you the truth, we were just deliberately looking for an excuse to imprison them," the Palace Master said arrogantly, turning his head.
"Deliberately?" Xie Guijin had a sudden realization: "Is there something else going on in the case of the Jade Rabbit reselling the laurel tree branches?"
"No, you are the Palace Master of the Xuanlu Tianshu Palace, in charge of the celestial realm's justice. Why go through all this roundabout ways? Could it be that the case involves a vast amount of people, and that you hold a high position of power, so much so that even you cannot easily shake your authority?" Xie Guijin's rabbit-like three-lobed mouth spoke quickly. "But if such a powerful figure were to care about such a petty profit as buying and selling laurel branches? Or is it that the laurel branches have some other purpose?..."
The temple master remained silent, while Xie Guijin continued to ramble on and on, lost in thought.
After Xie Guijin finally finished speaking, the Palace Master said, "This is an internal matter of our Immortal Realm, so there's no need for Miss Xie to concern herself with it. Before the truth is clear, please do not interfere, lest you hinder the investigation of our Xuanlu Tianshu Palace. The reason I told you this is precisely because there are always some people like you who claim to be righteous, adding unnecessary complications and doing more harm than good. Miss Xie, do you understand what I mean?"
"I understand," Xie Guijin nodded repeatedly.
The temple master, well-versed in the art of language, added, "Then do you know what to do?"
“I know,” Xie Guijin replied loudly.
The temple master gave Xie Guijin a deep look, feeling somewhat uneasy, but said nothing more and hurriedly left.
The system asked, puzzled, "Host, why do you believe it so easily?"
"Think about it, the Jade Rabbit has been diligently pounding medicine for tens of thousands of years, so why would it suddenly start selling laurel branches? What would a rabbit like it need money for? Hou Yi became an immortal only three days ago, yet he was able to quickly solve such a strange case?"
After a pause, Xie Guijin continued, "Let's assume it's exceptionally capable. But it only punished the Jade Rabbit, yet told Chang'e, 'The buyer is incredibly powerful, so we can't punish it for that. We can only let it go.' It also told Chang'e not to pursue the matter further or mention it to other beings, lest she bring trouble upon herself. Isn't that suspicious?"
"So you believe the Palace Master is good? That's not like you," the system teased.
“You know me best, of course I didn’t believe it just because of that,” Xie Guijin said with a grin. “Next, I’ll have to rely on you.”
"I?"
"Yes, the Jade Rabbit can speak human language now. Go and ask it what happened."
"Oh dear, how come I didn't think of that? You're so smart, host."
After exchanging a few words of praise, the system went to ask the Jade Rabbit.
A moment later, the system returned and said, "The Jade Rabbit said it knew nothing. It was just pounding medicine when it was suddenly caught and punished."
"Was it framed?"
"It says so, and it also says that the number of laurel branches that passed through its hands did not decrease, nor did the number of elixirs made from them decrease. All of this can be verified."
“Interesting,” Xie Guijin originally wanted to touch his chin, but found that his short legs couldn’t reach it, so he awkwardly put it down and squatted up properly.
The system completely ignored Xie Guijin's subtle movements and asked, "Host, is this confirmed?"
“No,” Xie Guijin said, looking at the unconscious Xue Linchuan. “Hopefully he has received Wu Gang’s memories and can give us some information.”
The system whispered, "Host, when will he wake up?"
"I don't know, let's wait and see. If he really is Xue Linchuan, then he will definitely wake up." Xie Guijin's red eyes looked at the unconscious "Wu Gang" with longing.
After an unknown amount of time, Wu Gang's eyes moved. He first heard a soft purring sound. Following the sound, he slowly opened his eyes and turned his head to see a snow-white rabbit sleeping soundly beside his pillow.
In a daze, a thought popped into Wu Gang's mind: "So rabbits snore too." As he slowly regained consciousness, he realized he wasn't dreaming and wondered, "Where am I?"
He propped himself up on the bed with his arms and slowly sat up, startling Xie Guijin, the rabbit, who was still beside him.
Xie Guijin was still sleepy when she opened her eyes and saw "Wu Gang's" palm. Her gaze moved up and met "Wu Gang's" bright eyes.
"Wu Gang" said warmly, "Sorry to wake you up? Where did you come from, little rabbit?"
"Xue, Xue Linchuan," Xie Guijin's three-lobed lips trembled, "Is it really you?"
"Wu Gang" was none other than Xue Linchuan, who hurriedly cupped Xie Guijin in his hands and presented her to him, saying, "Guijin, is that you? How did you become a rabbit? Who harmed you?"
“No, I’m the Jade Rabbit this time,” Xie Guijin said sullenly, recounting the events before asking, “Do you have Wu Gang’s memories? Are they related to the case of the laurel branch?”
Xue Linchuan frowned for a long time, then said apologetically, "I can't remember anything, and I can't sense Wu Gang either."
"It's alright, as long as you're alive, nothing else matters." Xie Guijin quickly reassured her, "Wu Gang is different from Xuan Tang Jin, so it's understandable that you can't sense him."
“That being said, although I couldn’t sense the divine generals, Chu Shuyue, and others in the past, I had inherited some of their memories. I don’t know why this is happening this time,” Xue Linchuan said, pursing his lips. “Wu Gang is an important witness in the case of the laurel branch. Could it be related to this?”
“You really have an occupational hazard,” Xie Guijin said, but she didn’t think so. “I think it’s because your soul is damaged and you can’t merge well with Wu Gang. That’s why you’re like this. Don’t start with conspiracy theories. Think of the worst first.”
Xue Linchuan smiled indulgently and said, "Okay, I'll do whatever you say."
“Huh,” the system said disdainfully, “Host, he looks just like Chang’e.”
"Don't talk nonsense, he's not love-struck, he just loves me." Xie Guijin immediately spoke up to defend Xue Linchuan.
The system complained, "Host, you're applying double standards."
“No, that’s not it,” Xie Guijin categorically denied. “What do you know about this data? How could you possibly understand the value of something lost and then found?”
Next, Xie Guijin ignored the system and cleared up the misunderstanding with Xue Linchuan.
Seeing Xue Linchuan's eyes filled with tenderness as he looked at a rabbit, the system almost suspected that Xue Linchuan had a rabbit fetish. The system only regretted that it could not block this out.
Fortunately, Xie Guijin and Xue Linchuan did not linger for long before Xie Guijin jumped out of bed to find the Palace Master of Xuanlu Tianshu Palace.
Upon seeing Xie Guijin, the Palace Master said, "Now that you've arrived, he must have woken up as well. Indeed, the effect is immediate."
Xie Guijin carefully placed her two little paws together and bowed to the Palace Master, saying, "I must thank the Palace Master for this."
"No need to be so polite, I didn't do anything," the Palace Master said, waving his hand.
Xie Guijin stopped dwelling on the matter and got down to business: "I am not here only for Palace Master Xie. I have obtained the Jade Rabbit's testimony, but now that it is me, I wonder if I could sign and affix my seal on behalf of the Jade Rabbit?"
The temple master pondered for a moment and said, "Please write down your testimony first, young lady. It won't be too late to sign it after you leave in a few days. Now that Young Master Xue has awakened, do you have Wu Gang's testimony?"
"No," Xie Guijin said truthfully, "I don't know why, but Lin Chuan did not inherit Wu Gang's memories, nor could he sense its existence or communicate with it to obtain more information."
"I will send a divine physician to treat Young Master Xue again, hoping to achieve some results. I ask for your cooperation at that time," the Palace Master nodded.
Xie Guijin puffed out her chest and assured him, "Of course, Palace Master, don't worry. I have another request; I'd like to see Chang'e, is that alright?"
“Of course not,” the temple master refused decisively. “It is not appropriate for Miss Xie to see her before the truth is clear.”
"I'm not doing this for personal reasons. I'm thinking that although I don't know what the truth the Palace Master wants to investigate is, there is only one Moon Laurel Tree in the Six Realms, located in the Moon Palace. The mastermind behind this is probably also related to the Moon Palace. I've come up with a way that might advance the case, but it requires Chang'e's permission, since she is still the master of the Moon Palace." Xie Guijin wasn't surprised that the Palace Master would refuse, and she immediately explained her reasons.
"Oh, what method? Tell me, young lady," the palace master said with a slight twitch of his eyebrows.
Xie Guijin quickly said, "Speaking of which, the moon is vast, but only Chang'e and the Jade Rabbit are in the Guanghan Palace, while Wu Gang is chopping down the laurel tree on the other side. The case of the laurel branch involves all four of them. But if I can buy a house on the moon, with this variable, the moon will have more than just four kinds of creatures. Perhaps it can lure the snake out of its hole."
She strained to look at the Palace Master's expression, and seeing that it was expressionless but still stopped her, she continued, "However, this matter requires Chang'e's permission, since it is her territory. Therefore, I need to meet with her to explain in person. I would appreciate it if the Palace Master would do me a favor."
“Actually, once the immortal physician has treated Young Master Xue and there is no major problem, you may leave.” The Palace Master’s expression was somewhat complicated. He said, “As for you wanting to sell your house in the Immortal Realm, you can ask the Heavenly Emperor for permission. I don’t think he will make things difficult for you.”
"Is the Palace Master unwilling to expedite the case?" Xie Guijin probed.
“Miss Xie, there’s no need to test my intentions,” the Palace Master said with a smile. “This case is the responsibility of my Xuanlu Tianshu Palace. Not to mention that you two are just mortals after all, even if you were other immortals, as long as you are not officials of my Xuanlu Tianshu Palace, there is no reason for me to put you in danger. I appreciate Miss Xie’s kindness.”
"So it was this dangerous after all. I overestimated myself," Xie Guijin said, blushing.
Xie Guijin changed the subject and continued, "The Palace Master probably knows about my selling houses in the other five realms. To be honest, it's because I had an accident in my original world and am now seriously injured and unconscious. Only by completing the task of selling houses in the six realms of this world can I exchange for a chance to live."
