The Sealed Beasts of the Divine Realm, Part 15
Xie Guijin opened her mouth but couldn't make a sound, clutching her neck in terror.
Xue Linchuan's voice came from behind: "Junior Sister, what's wrong?"
The monster breathed on Xie Guijin.
Xie Guijin's gaze went blank for a moment, she swayed, and collapsed to the ground.
Hearing the commotion, Xue Linchuan rushed towards Xie Guijin.
The monster moved swiftly, taking flight in an instant. With a flap of its wings, Xue Linchuan swayed and fell to the ground.
The monster let out a gleeful "hehehe" laugh and pounced on the little villains who had already been drugged. It opened its mouth and bit one of them on the nose. With a snap, the monster's tooth almost broke. The once soft and delicious human had somehow turned into a hard bronze statue.
The monster—no, it can now be confirmed as the Qiongqi itself—stretched out its claws, threw the bronze statue, and soared into the air toward the temple roof with such force that it looked like it was about to smash through the roof.
However, it was slowly pressed down by an invisible divine force, forcing it to descend to the ground.
Xie Guijin, who had fallen unconscious, had already gotten up, making hand seals and chanting incantations, keeping a close eye on Qiongqi, not daring to relax for a moment.
Xue Linchuan stood outside the mountain god temple, holding up a protective barrier to shield the ignorant and unaware little villains.
The evil aura raged within the mountain god temple, and the Qiongqi spread its wings and pounced on Xie Guijin.
Xie Guijin dodged the attack, golden light swirling at her fingertips, transforming into runes that surged towards Qiongqi.
Qiongqi's sharp claws tore through the runes, and its venom splattered from its mouth, scorching the runes.
Xie Guijin stood in mid-air, chanting incantations. Her voice was clear and distinct, unlike her own, but rather like that of a goddess who had once broken free from her body.
Runes covered the sky and earth, trapping Qiongqi in the center, and rotating to form a golden barrier.
Qiongqi rammed into the barrier with all its might, making a loud, booming sound.
The tinderbox that had fallen to the ground and had not yet gone out suddenly emitted billowing blue smoke that seeped into the barrier and engulfed Qiongqi.
The roar of Qiongqi gradually subsided until it disappeared completely.
Xie Guijin did not relax at all, her hand gestures and incantations never stopping.
When the smoke cleared, Qiongqi lay motionless on the ground.
Xie Guijin's hands moved swiftly, forming hand seals. Silver chains extended from the void, wrapping around Qiongqi's limbs, tightening and digging into its flesh.
Qiongqi's scales shattered, and its spiritual power suddenly overflowed, striking the golden barrier and causing fine cracks to appear on the barrier.
Fine beads of sweat appeared on Xie Guijin's forehead, her fingertips moved rapidly, and the barrier shrank, pressing down on Qiongqi.
After an unknown amount of time, Qiongqi let out a mournful howl, its body shrank, and the barrier shrank accordingly, eventually becoming a small cage that flew into Xie Guijin's palm.
Exhausted, Xie Guijin knelt on the ground, raised the cage in front of her, and sneered, "You think you can fool me? Dream on."
Xue Linchuan asked from outside, "Gui Jin, are you ready?"
"Alright," Xie Guijin said, having gathered some strength, as she got up and walked outside.
The system scoffed, "Host, why doesn't he fight alongside you? Is he really worried about you? Does he care about you? He only asks questions but doesn't even come in to check on you. What if you get killed?"
"Pah, pah, pah, what nonsense are you spouting? Even if you want to sow discord, you can't curse me." Xie Guijin spat several times.
The system protested: "Am I not stating the truth?"
Xie Guijin stepped out of the temple gate, annoyed, and said, "Without him protecting those people outside, how can I subdue Qiongqi with peace of mind? Besides, sealing Qiongqi is my job, I can do it myself, why do I need his help? Don't underestimate the working ability of us women, okay?"
For some reason, the system sensed that Xie Guijin was a little angry when she said that, so it didn't dare to say anything more.
After dealing with Qiongqi, Xie Guijin and his companion released the captured villains back into the wild.
The villains woke up to find themselves in their own homes, thinking it was all a dream. But the hunger and thirst were real, as were the joy and excitement of their families. The most important evidence was the note detailing their crimes, signed "Heroic Actor of Justice."
Almost every petty villain was thinking of a chivalrous hero who acted on behalf of heaven? They were clearly two strange people. They arrested them for no reason and then inexplicably released them.
The courtesan had no family members who were happy for her return; only a seven- or eight-year-old mute servant stayed by her bedside, grinning when he saw her wake up.
"Am I dead? How can I dream of this little mute girl even if I'm dead?" The courtesan was dazed and confused, her mind racing. "Could it be that because I scolded her a few times and hit her a few times, I went to the underworld? Then why is she here? Is she dead too?"
The mute servant turned around, brought a cup of tea, and helped the courtesan to her feet to drink.
The bitter tea soothed the courtesan's parched throat, and she gradually came to her senses, realizing that she was not dead. This was her room in the brothel, a small cage, and she had returned.
The mute slave held a teacup, his clothes didn't fit him well, revealing a section of his wrist covered in bruises, which looked quite gruesome.
The courtesan saw this and closed her eyes in anguish.
Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. The courtesan grabbed the mute servant and said, "Did you sneak in here?"
"Ah, ah," the mute servant hurriedly gestured, she had run away because she was worried about her.
The courtesan jumped off the bed, dragged the mute servant into the wardrobe, and said sternly, "Don't make a sound, and don't come out."
After hiding the mute slave, the courtesan took a deep breath, quickly exhaled, and said in a soft, seductive voice with a charming smile, "Here he comes, here he comes."
She quickly stepped forward and opened the door, but instead of the madam and pimps she had expected, she saw two constables, one tall and one short.
The courtesan paused for a moment, then quickly put on a smiling face and said, "Two gentlemen, you were looking for me?"
"Are you Luo Baozhu?" asked a taller constable.
Luo Baozhu? The courtesan couldn't remember how long it had been since she'd heard that name; she thought she'd never hear anyone call her that again in her life.
Luo Baozhu's lips trembled as she fiddled with the door panel and said in a weak voice, "It is I."
The shorter constable handed over a piece of paper and said, "It has been verified that all the girls in this brothel were forced into prostitution. The brothel has now been shut down. This is your indenture. This five taels of silver is your compensation. Live a good life from now on."
The constable handed over another piece of silver.
Luo Baozhu accepted it with trepidation, unable to believe her ears for a moment.
A taller constable peeked into the room and said, "If you have any savings, you can't take them with you, nor can you take your clothes and jewelry. These are all within the scope of the government's confiscation. You can leave now."
Luo Baozhu clutched the loose silver in one hand and the indenture in the other, dazed, and said, "Oh," before lifting her leg to leave the cage that had imprisoned her for so many years.
Then, suddenly realizing what he had done, he said with a forced smile, "Gentlemen, we're leaving now. Where are the servants in the building?"
“Those who have committed evil will naturally have to wait for trial,” the shorter yamen runner said with a strange look at Luo Baozhu, without putting on airs, “The others will naturally have their indentures returned, be given severance pay, and be told to go their separate ways.”
Luo Baozhu bowed in thanks, ran back to her room, opened the wardrobe, and led the mute servant out.
The two constables exchanged a surprised glance, but without asking any further questions, they gave the mute girl a contract of indenture and three taels of silver.
After leaving the brothel, Luo Baozhu found a small inn, asked for a room, and led the mute servant into the room. As soon as she closed the door, she felt all her strength drain away. She leaned against the door and slowly slid down to the ground, crying and laughing at the same time.
The mute servant was anxious when he saw this, and hurriedly stretched out his arm to wipe her tears with his sleeve. But when he got close, he was afraid that she would find it dirty, so he quickly withdrew his hand and gestured with both hands to tell her not to cry.
Luo Baozhu smiled as she watched the mute servant's actions. Without even using a handkerchief, she reached out and wiped her face vigorously, saying to the mute servant, "Do you remember where you live? I'll take you home."
Upon hearing this, the mute servant gestured that she had no home for a long time and that she wanted to follow Luo Baozhu, who was her family.
After gesturing, the mute servant stuffed the three taels of silver he had been holding into Luo Baozhu's hand, looking like a stray dog afraid of being abandoned.
Luo Baozhu refused to accept the money, saying incredulously, "You want to follow me? Why? I've hit you and scolded you."
Upon hearing this, the mute servant ignored the money, waved his hands repeatedly, and gestured excitedly, saying, "No, I remember everything you gave me to eat and medicine you bought for me."
“You’re such a silly girl. Even the smallest kindness is worth remembering,” Luo Baozhu said, pulling the mute girl into her arms and stroking her head as she burst into tears, as if she wanted to cry out all the tears she had in her life.
Seeing this, the system, though it didn't understand human emotions, felt a pang of sadness and discomfort. Feeling somewhat uneasy, it made conversation by saying, "Host, it seems the roster the Minister of Justice gave you is not entirely accurate. The officials here can hardly be considered good officials who serve the country and its people."
"What's so strange about that? Officials are human, so naturally there are good and bad ones, and varying levels of ability. Where in this world is there truly peace and prosperity? This dynasty has already done quite well to achieve what it has today," Xie Guijin said with a laugh.
Then, full of pride, he said, "I believe this dynasty will get better and better, and I also believe that one day, this world will become as good as the world I came from."
After Xie Guijin finished his daydream, he returned to reality and waved his hand, saying, "Now, let's complete the last task."
The system couldn't resist taking a jab at Xie Guijin: "Host, so you still remember? I thought you'd forgotten everything long ago."
Xie Guijin was in a good mood this time and didn't argue with the system. She turned to Xue Linchuan and said, "You said that when we get back, Chaos should have already been captured, right? Even if it wasn't sealed, it should be trapped by the formation we set up."
“Definitely,” Xue Linchuan nodded repeatedly, knowing how to provide emotional value. “Once you seal it, we’ll go to the Temple of Justice to report back. Then, while there’s still time after the mission, where else would you like to go? I’ll go with you. What do you want to eat? I’ll cook for you.”
“No,” Xie Guijin refused resolutely, “There is still time. Of course we should go to God and see if he can repair your soul.”
“Okay,” Xue Linchuan agreed softly.
Filled with anticipation for the future, Xue Linchuan and he sped through the clouds back to the mountain villa on the outskirts of Luojin City.
As a result, in the manor, not only was Chaos not captured or trapped, but not even a trace of Chaos could be seen.
Xie Guijin felt as if she had fallen into an ice cellar, truly experiencing what it meant to be struck dumb.
Even the system dared not mock Xie Guijin anymore.
The mission deadline is approaching, but Chaos has not been lured in. Where in the vast Six Realms can we find it?
