Chapter 19

Chapter 19

The four were trapped in the ice castle. In the faint firelight created by Bai Zhou, Zhou Yuli's energy was exhausted and he turned into a puppet, and Lan Ji was unconscious. Only Pei Zhao and Bai Zhou were left, staring at each other in bewilderment at the fire.

"What should we do now?" Pei Zhao pursed his lips, "Don't you royal family care about face the most? You will take action no matter what?"

Bai Zhou looked at him speechlessly: "Isn't it true that the royal family just does what they say? Face, this is someone else's territory, it's no longer important."

Pei Zhao smacked his lips, finding out the difference between the cognition of the two worlds.

"Do you want to break through?" Pei Zhao transformed the mirror in his hand into a sharp blade and looked up at Bai Zhou.

Bai Zhou shook his head without thinking: "Brother's ice castle is not ordinary ice, it can't melt at all. It's difficult for us to even get out... this?"

Bai Zhou stopped talking, and saw the lens in Pei Zhao's hand fell on the ice on the ground. Bai Zhou clasped his hands together and slowly opened them.

As if something tightly glued together was opened, Bai Zhou's eyes moved downward, and the lens that fell to the ground opened its bloody mouth on the ice surface as Pei Zhao moved.

"This is..." Bai Zhou looked more and more familiar, and exclaimed, "Is this the spire?"

Until the entire lens spread out as large as the ground beneath their feet, the entire city of Hall was revealed, but it was upside down.

Pei Zhao opened his eyes: "Shall we go?"

Bai Zhou's voice trembled: "Where are you going?"

Pei Zhao grabbed Zhou Yuli in his arms and raised his eyebrows: "Get out of here."

As he said this, he fell down first.

Bai Zhou gritted his teeth. Although he didn't know where was below, he really couldn't do anything while being trapped in the ice castle.

Bai Zhou helped Lan Ji up, held the unconscious person in his arms, hardened his heart, and jumped down together.

*

There was no expected pain. Bai Zhou opened his eyes in softness and found a person squatting in front of him. It was Pei Zhao.

"Does this count as escape?" Bai Zhou turned over and immediately went to find Lan Ji to confirm that the man was still by his side and had just fainted. Only then did he breathe a sigh of relief and continued to look around.

The world in the mirror is not quite the same as the real world. The whole world was shrouded in a blood-red filter, and the moon in the sky was even more red.

"Not yet." Pei Zhao's voice came, "This seems to be just a world in the mirror. In fact, we should not have left the Ice Castle yet."

According to Pei Zhao's understanding, he only opened up a space of a higher dimension and did not leave the original space.

Bai Zhou's expression became serious: "You don't want to destroy the central city here?" He shook his head, "That's impossible. There is only one core hub in the central city."

Pei Zhao pursed his lips. Of course he knew that the reason he pulled out the world in the mirror was just to try it out at first. There was a voice in his heart telling him to do it, and he wanted to give it a try. Unexpectedly, it actually succeeded.

But the voice is still there.

Pei Zhao's gaze fell on the central city area, where he could vaguely hear faint cries, which attracted him deeply.

"I just want to find out what kind of secrets are hidden in this central city area."

Bai Zhou also knew a thing or two about the secret that Pei Zhao mentioned.

In fact, even his western suburbs have secrets. But those were just historical issues, and he agreed that they had little to do with him.

But it was not until Pei Zhao led them into the deserted city in the mirror, walked down the spiral staircases one by one, and gradually approached the center of the earth that Bai Zhou realized something was wrong.

Pei Zhao also noticed that something was wrong with him and asked, "Isn't there a place like this in the western part of the city?"

Bai Zhou shook his head solemnly: "I just knew it existed, but I never knew it was like this..."

A sticky liquid was flowing under the red filter in the mirror, gushing up along the spiral staircase. I don't know whether the original color of this liquid was scarlet or something else, but the constantly circulating liquid almost had the word "weird" written on its face.

Bai Zhou unconsciously transformed into the image of a fire phoenix to protect Lan Ji, while Pei Zhao held Zhou Yuli in one hand in his lapel and held the lens with the other.

The lenses were connected into a long whip, moving as he wished. Pei Zhao swung it lightly, and just as the whip was about to reach the ground, it brushed past it the next moment.

Pei Zhao lowered his eyes: "I can't touch it."

"It's good to be able to take a look." Bai Zhou said.

Soon the two arrived at the bottom floor of the central city area, and there was no more spiral staircase leading deeper. But the bottom of the pit was completely different from what they thought. Pei Zhao: "After searching for so long, it seems there is no secret?"

Bai Zhou also frowned. He really knew nothing about the secrets of the urban area.

Just as he was thinking about it, Lan Ji in his arms suddenly made some noises. Bai Zhou quickly put him down and asked him with concern, "What's wrong?"

Unexpectedly, Lan Ji opened his eyes and only glanced at him halfway before noticing the surroundings. His expression became visibly panicked: "Hell?"

"Hell?" Pei Zhao and Bai Zhou looked at each other and keenly discovered that Lan Ji seemed to be aware of the situation here.

Lan Ji had been unconscious for a long time and finally recovered. His voice was still a little weak, but the fear in his eyes was still very dazzling.

Bai Zhou let him lean against a spot so he could feel more comfortable, then he asked softly, "Have you been here?"

Before being captured, Lan Ji worked under the eldest prince and lived in the central city area, so it was normal for him to have been here.

But Lan Ji shook his head: "It's not a normal way to get here. This place is very strange."

Pei Zhao thought it was quite strange... Then he heard Lan Ji continue: "This is a mass grave in the central city, but I saw with my own eyes that living prisoners were sent here."

Bai Zhou did not suspect anything, but asked curiously, "Sending prisoners to a mass grave? Why? To scare them?"

Pei Zhao said with a serious expression: "I'm afraid they are holding a sacrificial ceremony."

As he spoke, he noticed a tiny pattern in front of him. The pattern was very strange, with a dark red background and golden lines. It seemed that the strange sound before came from here.

Pei Zhao was stunned for a moment, then stretched out his hand as if possessed by a ghost, trying to touch the pattern.

At this moment, a brown vine stretched out from his collar, wrapped around his arms, and pulled him back.

Pei Zhao was caught off guard and was pulled back a step, watching as the end of the vine gently touched the strange mark.

Pei Zhao: "Zhou Yuli?"

The vines quickly retracted.

Pei Zhao was about to say something when he saw the mark suddenly flicker, and then a bloody mouth formed, snap——

Pei Zhao took a breath. If he had just stood there, or the vines had retracted more slowly, they would have been swallowed by now.

The bloody mouth opened and closed in vain, and then gradually shrank back, leaving a large empty hole. From the hole, one could vaguely see the blood, but more people had to lean in to take a look.

Bai Zhou and Lan Ji also saw what happened just now.

"Is it deeper underground?" Bai Zhou helped Lan Ji sit over. In order to prevent any accidents, the three of them kept a distance from the cave entrance.

Lan Ji raised his hand and drew a small ice crystal, pinched it a few times and threw it in.

Everyone held their breath, and about three seconds later, the sound of something falling was heard.

Pei Zhao groaned for a moment: "The space inside is quite large, and there is an echo."

Bai Zhou looked at him and frowned: "Are you going to explore further down?"

Lan Ji was standing aside, his face pale, but he looked at Pei Zhao with the same firm eyes as Bai Zhou.

"Explore." Pei Zhao thought for a moment and uttered a firm word. Then, he circled his hands and slowly extended the lens whip into the cave.

Pei Zhao's cold voice sounded: "Three, two, one, jump."

*

Center of the earth.

The round skin was stretched to the point where there was not a single texture on it, and it emitted a faint smell of decay. Looking up, the dark insect pupils were round and shiny, patrolling alertly in the red.

In its blind spot, a thin whip quietly dropped down, and three people jumped down from it.

It was Pei Zhao, Bai Zhou and Lan Ji.

Pei Zhao hid in place cautiously and whispered, "What is this big insect... Is it your pet?"

He meant to be joking, but when he turned around, he saw Bai Zhou's face was more serious than ever, and heard him say that.

"Shouldn't this thing... have died three hundred years ago?"

The "thing" that Bai Zhou was talking about was a huge white worm in front of them. The two round eye pupils look like those of some arthropod, standing at both ends of the head.

If it wasn't so huge, Pei Zhao would even think it was cute...but Bai Zhou's reaction was as if he was looking at a very scary big trouble.

"This is the worm that devours everything, as recorded in the prophecy scroll. Damn it, is it the one devouring the energy of Hall City? Who on earth is feeding it?"

It goes without saying who is raising the bugs under the secret door in the central city. Pei Zhao held the lens in his hand and looked at Bai Zhou's expression: "If we kill him, can we solve the troubles in Hall City?"

Bai Zhou thought for a second and nodded: "Okay."

Pei Zhao nodded, and the next second, he threw the lens in his hand at Bai Zhou's feet.

Bai Zhou frowned: "What is this?"

Pei Zhao manipulated the lens to make it bigger and bigger, and said nonchalantly: "Now that we have figured it out, we can start."

*

Escape from the mirror world in an instant.

The scene before my eyes fell into darkness again, and this time, the fire came faster than before. Moreover, a mournful cry of a fire phoenix rose straight into the sky, and in a moment it pierced through the ice castle and rushed out.

Pei Zhao looked at Bai Zhou in surprise, and the latter explained: "This is a signal from the royal family. Fire cannot overcome ice."

Soon after, they heard a crowd of people surrounding the Ice Castle again, but there was no sound from the Ice Emperor.

Pei Zhao and Bai Zhou were already prepared to counterattack Bingdi when he made his move. At this moment, Lan Ji spoke.

"He won't come." Lan Ji said, "The eldest prince has long regarded the royal family as a stubborn obstacle to his development, and it is even more impossible for him to give you a chance to make a move."

Pei Zhao: "But now we need to go to the center of the earth, find the white worms, destroy them, and Hall City will return to its previous state..."

Lan Ji suddenly looked at him: "You will really take the fifth prince away, right?"

Pei Zhao nodded seriously: "I will."

Lan Ji: "Don't leave him here."

Pei Zhao agreed: "I won't keep him."

What Pei Zhao and Bai Zhou did not expect was that after Lan Ji received the affirmative answer, he raised his hand and stabbed his chest with the ice cone almost the moment he finished speaking.
