Chapter 21

Chapter 21

The man was wearing a baseball cap, a mask, and black sunglasses. He was so covered up that you couldn't even see the color of his hair.

The whole person stood there, with a thin figure and outstanding temperament. Pei Zhao had a bad feeling in his heart.

"What's wrong?" Zhou Yuli asked with his head down after noticing that something was wrong with Pei Zhao.

Pei Zhao leaned close to his ear and said, "That's Bai Zhou...his clone in the real world."

Zhou Yuli slowly raised his head.

The person on the opposite side obviously noticed the presence of the two and turned to look at Pei Zhao. For a moment, their eyes met through their sunglasses.

Pei Zhao couldn't help swallowing, and at this moment, Zhou Yuli stood in front of him.

Zhou Yuli shook hands with "Bai Zhou", led him into the store, and sat him down in front of the counter.

The counter was very high and could not be seen from the outside after they sat down. After Zhou Yuli placed two cups of coffee in front of the two of them, he made an excuse to go and guard the door.

Behind the counter, "Bai Zhou" slowly took off his equipment.

Pei Zhao couldn't help but be surprised. Under the mask was a pair of faces exactly like Bai Zhou from the other world, but thinner, with golden eyes drooping, as if a god who had fallen into the mortal world.

Bai Zhou got straight to the point and said calmly, "Please save me."

Pei Zhao was stunned: "You...are the popular actor?"

Bai Zhou nodded, not being modest: "Yes." But he didn't look proud, but rather dejected. "I... did a deal with Perfect World before, but couldn't get in touch with them anymore. Then... I used my connections to get to know you."

Pei Zhao's brain even crashed a little. He subconsciously asked, "What is a deal? Find me? What kind of relationship can lead to me?"

"Bai Zhou" took out a business card from his pocket, which was obviously prepared in advance, and pushed it in front of Pei Zhao. "Perfect World, a webpage... game? Maybe it can be considered a game. At least most people in our circle think it is a game."

Pei Zhao looked at the business card. It had a white background with a gold border. At the top was the words "Perfect World". There was no mobile phone number, only a short website address. Pei Zhao felt his throat was extremely dry. He took a sip of coffee before continuing to ask, "Can you elaborate on this game? What exactly is it?"

"Bai Zhou" said slowly: "At first it appeared in a fan letter. I thought it was a fan-made website and wanted to log in to take a look. I didn't expect to enter real information. I tried the assistant's, but he told me it wasn't me... and he directly popped up my name and ID number and asked me to click confirm."

Pei Zhao was speechless. The more he listened, the weirder it sounded. This person, isn't he a little too carefree?

"Bai Zhou" continued, "Out of curiosity... I logged in anyway. Anyway, I didn't bind my bank card or anything else, and my personal information was not an open secret, so I didn't pay much attention. At the beginning of the interface, there was only one content, asking me what my wish was. I thought it was a prank, so I just wrote: to be able to make a movie."

Pei Zhao: "...Then, you filmed "Soul Search"?"

"Bai Zhou" nodded. "Almost that day, my assistant suddenly told me that a big-budget movie had come to me and they needed someone with a special eye color. My eye color is very light, so they specifically asked for me."

Pei Zhao was somewhat speechless. After a moment of silence, he finally found his voice: "...Do you think this is too coincidental?"

"Bai Zhou" shook his head: "At first I thought it was a coincidence. After all, the reason made sense. I just thought I was lucky. But some time ago, my phone suddenly jumped to that webpage."

Pei Zhao frowned: "The one you logged in?"

"Bai Zhou" sighed: "It's fine if it's the one I logged in, but the problem is, I've never logged in with a mobile phone. Not only did it jump, it also automatically recognized and entered the page directly, with only one line of text on it."

Pei Zhao seemed to hear the sound of himself swallowing his saliva: "...What?"

Bai Zhou said word by word: "Deal is done."

Pei Zhao was completely speechless.

"Bai Zhou" confided: "I don't know what a deal is. If I knew it was a deal, then I, then I..."

Pei Zhao looked at him: "What do you think? Will you refuse the opportunity that comes to your door?"

Bai Zhou, who was eager to refute just now, suddenly stopped, was silent for a moment and shook his head: "No, I can't. Such a good opportunity is hard to come by for a fledgling actor like me."

Pei Zhao looked at him with a complicated expression. He could actually understand how many young actors would degenerate in order to make a name for themselves, not to mention that he was just making a wish on the website.

Pei Zhao asked: "Then, do you know what the deal is?"

Bai Zhou's expression slightly changed, and he placed his hands on Pei Zhao's arms. Pei Zhao then realized that his whole body was shaking uncontrollably: "...I must disappear."

Bai Zhou's tone was low when he said this, and Bai Zhou's mood sank to the bottom along with his tone.

After a long silence, Pei Zhao spoke with difficulty: "Why... did you know to come to me?"

Bai Zhou's eyes lit up: "They said you have a way."

Bai Zhou took out another business card from his pocket. It had a cell phone number on it but no name.

Pei Zhao looked at the paper pushed in front of him and bit his lower lip unconsciously.

In the end, Pei Zhao did not directly agree to "Bai Zhou", but asked him to find a hotel nearby to stay in first and let him give himself some time.

After seeing "Bai Zhou" off, Zhou Yuli came over, touched the coffee cup and found that it was cold, so he took it away and handed him a cup of newly bought hot milk tea. Pei Zhao held the hot milk tea and finally felt that he had regained some consciousness.

"What do you think we should do?" Pei Zhao was in a dilemma.

Zhou Yuli picked up the two business cards and touched them in his hands, frowning: "Same paper?"

Pei Zhao looked up and said without a doubt: "Printing shops on the market all use materials of uniform specifications, so it's not surprising that the paper is the same."

Zhou Yuli nodded without saying anything. Seeing Pei Zhao's tired face, he rubbed his shoulders and said, "What are you worried about? If you really feel tired, we can ignore this matter."

He fell silent before he finished speaking, and looked down at Pei Zhao's expression. He remembered that Pei Zhao hated his irresponsible attitude the most, and he was afraid that he would annoy others.

Fortunately, Pei Zhao didn't care this time. Maybe it was because the development of this matter was completely beyond Pei Zhao's expectations. Pei Zhao just closed his eyes and relaxed, shaking his head: "I'm just wondering, what is the perfect world on this business card, and why this number knows my existence."

Zhou Yuli's hands kept moving, and his eyes fell on the two business cards on the counter. Suddenly he felt his men pause. Zhou Yuli stopped moving and looked down. Pei Zhao's bright eyes were looking at him.

Zhou Yuli asked gently, "What do you want to do?"

Pei Zhao blinked: "Why don't we call and check?"

Of course the call has to be made, but it can't be Pei Zhao who makes the call. The two found a public telephone booth and after searching online for a long time, they finally bought a phone card. They inserted the card and dialed the number. A retro mechanical sound rang in their ears.

The two of them leaned over the receiver, their eyes lit up: "Connected!"

There was a beep from the other end of the line, followed by a very deep voice: "Hello?"

Pei Zhao's breathing stagnated. Zhou Yuli made a "hush" gesture to him, lowered his voice, and slowly said, "Hello, we want to consult you about something."

There was no response from the other end of the phone for a long time. After a slight laugh, a deep voice came with a smile: "Pinocchio..."

Zhou Yuli subconsciously retracted his hand and the receiver dropped.

Pei Zhao heard the contents clearly and felt his heart skip a beat. He picked up the receiver and asked, "Who are you?"

The other end didn't hang up yet, and seemed very leisurely. He said slowly: "That's right, a puppet... shouldn't get involved in a conversation between masters."

Pei Zhao's heart stagnated and he subconsciously looked at Zhou Yuli. Zhou Yuli had obviously heard what was said, but compared to his initial confusion, he had tried his best to conceal his emotions and seemed just not in a good mood. But Pei Zhao could still see that his hands hidden in his pockets were shaking constantly.

Pei Zhao held Zhou Yuli's hand with one hand, patted it gently, concentrated his mind, and said to the other end of the receiver: "I want to meet with you and talk."

The other party quickly gave an address. Pei Zhao thought about it and decided it was in the next city, so he agreed.

After hanging up the phone, I found out that it started raining outside the phone booth. Zhou Yuli still didn't look very good.

It was raining heavily, and mist condensed on the windows, hiding everything around under the rain curtain. I can't see clearly outside or inside.

"Don't listen to his nonsense." Pei Zhao pinched Zhou Yuli's hand and shook it.

Zhou Yuli shook his head, his tone still gentle, but much hoarseer than usual: "It's just a little surprising that he could tell just by listening."

Pei Zhao sighed in his heart. He didn't expect that man to be so capable... Zhou Yuli was scared just now, but he actually made an appointment to meet with someone directly. He still didn't know who the other person was and whether there was any danger.

Although Zhou Yuli pretended nothing happened, his disappointment was too obvious. Pei Zhao looked around. It was raining heavily outside and the sky had turned gloomy. The glass of the telephone booth was washed by the rain and became blurry.

Pei Zhao thought about it and patted Zhou Yuli's arm.

Zhou Yuli immediately lowered his head and asked "What's wrong?"

Just as he asked the question, Pei Zhao tiptoed up and gave him a huge, warm hug.

Zhou Yuli was stunned.

Pei Zhao stroked his back again and again, put his arm around his shoulders, held him in his arms and patted him, "Don't listen to his nonsense, it doesn't matter if he is a puppet, we are little puppets that are loved by people."

Although it was not a word of comfort, Zhou Yuli's heart suddenly felt warm.

It was as if the skin that had turned white after being pressed against a blade for a long time suddenly began to bleed, and a tingling sensation, along with a slight itchiness, crept into my heart.

Zhou Yuli hugged Pei Zhao back.

The rain made their clothes and hair a little damp, but when they put their hands into the water, they did not feel sticky at all, but warm instead.

A string of cell phone rings interrupted their embrace.

Pei Zhao was the first to break free. He was almost immersed in it and almost fell asleep. He dug into his pocket and took out his cell phone: "Hello?"

Zhou Yuli slowly straightened up. His legs were numb, but he ignored it and looked at Pei Zhao's profile with tenderness.

"Oh, we are...outside the school. Okay, then you should be careful."

After hanging up the phone, Pei Zhao patted Zhou Yuli on the shoulder and said, "We are lucky enough. Zhou Ran said he is in the dormitory. It suddenly started to rain heavily, and he was worried that we didn't bring an umbrella, so he said he could come pick us up."

"He's such a nice guy." Zhou Yuli said with a smile.
