Chapter 120 Rules for New Employees
【Residential Area Rules】
Welcome to the residential area. This area is one of the four major areas planned by the Foundation. It is committed to providing a comfortable living environment for operators. Here you can meet all your living needs. If you have any unmet needs, please submit them to the district chief's suggestion box.
To ensure a good living environment and help you quickly integrate into the residential area and become a part of it, please abide by the following rules:
1. The residential area has dormitories, canteens, stadiums, swimming pools and other leisure and entertainment facilities. Each public building has specific rules, please abide by the corresponding rules.
Second, the residential area respects the living habits of colleagues of different species. If you see a colleague who is obviously not human, please don't worry. We are all equal individuals and discrimination is not allowed.
3. You are not allowed to stay in the residential area during working hours except during vacation time. This area does not serve employees who are absent from work.
4. Non-working employees in residential areas are not allowed to discuss work and respect the precious rest time of workers.
5. The residential area is peaceful and no dangerous behavior such as fighting or attacking colleagues is allowed.
6. The Security Department will maintain the security of the residential area and consciously uphold the various rules of the residential area. If you see any of the above violations, please inform the Security Department in time.
Special circumstances may not be subject to the corresponding rules. If the above rules are violated, the consequences will be at your own risk.
Not only dormitories have rules, other buildings and facilities also have corresponding rules, and residential area rules need to be followed by everyone.
Treating colleagues of different species equally shows that there are not only human employees here. 9:30 should be working hours, so there are so few talented people in the residential area.
Not discussing work after get off work is a very conscientious rule, and reporting any danger to the security department is a very easy rule to follow.
Although the rules have rigid regulations for some situations, they are obviously not that inhumane.
It is working hours now, and the security guards are also employees of the foundation. They will not be punished for using force to discuss work.
As new employees who have not yet joined the company, they are also exempt from the corresponding rules.
Others have also noticed the uniqueness of this place.
Wang Qi: "It seems that the order of the foundation is based on various rules. As long as you abide by the rules, your safety in this place is quite guaranteed."
Chen Sisi said softly, "The residential area is a place for people to rest, so the rules might be more relaxed. But the central building we're going to might be different."
"Let's go quickly. If we don't get to the third floor conference room quickly, something bad might happen."
Upon hearing this, everyone immediately left the small room and walked outside.
Rong Le was the last one to walk out of the small room. She withdrew her gaze from the clock, with no extra expression on her face.
Nine thirty-eight.
Time... does it pass so quickly?
*
Following the building manager's instructions, they first turned right and walked straight, walked out of the edge of the wall, and then turned right again. Because time was tight, everyone walked quickly.
However, no matter which way you go, the road ahead is always a straight line, the end seems out of reach, and there is no detour in sight.
It was clear that they were going in circles.
Rong Le: "The scenery on both sides is the same, and time may flow faster. We don't have much time to waste."
Bai Tutu pondered for a moment and said, "The farthest end of the road is about three hundred meters away. We should close our eyes and walk forward, counting our steps. If we stop after a certain number of steps, we might be able to get out."
The early tasks of the module are somewhat challenging but achievable. Rong Le usually lets the students do it on their own and he takes care of the rest.
Thor: "Based on my stride, it will take about 400 steps. I will count the steps, and everyone should follow my steps."
If there was one person present who wouldn't be affected by the psychic stuff, it would be Thor, and everyone was fine with that.
"Let's walk hand in hand to prevent getting lost."
Everyone quickly discussed what needed to be paid attention to, and without questioning their teammates or wasting time, they made a quick decision. The qualities of an elite investigator were perfectly demonstrated in such small matters.
Everyone closed their eyes, and Thor walked in front, counting as he walked forward with his eyes closed.
"One, two, three, four..."
Thor's voice echoed in their ears, and everyone closed their eyes and moved forward following the force transmitted from front to back.
Rong Le was responsible for covering the rear, with Sheng Mao, who had a lower presence, in the front, and Tina, who had the highest combat power, in the middle. Wang Qi pushed Chen Sisi's wheelchair, and Chen Sisi pulled her and Bai Tutu's arms respectively, while Bai Tutu pulled Thor.
Although the scene was a bit weird and funny, no one laughed. Everyone listened to Thor's voice in silence and moved forward.
Chen Sisi suddenly warned: "Thor, stop!"
Already arrived?
Thor, who was at the front, slowed down his pace for a moment, and many thoughts flashed through his mind.
He knew that Chen Sisi's ability was a danger warning type, but at this time he had only counted to more than 370 steps. Could he have counted wrongly?
What will happen if he goes further? Will he lead everyone into danger?
Thor uncontrollably began to doubt himself, with two options, believing Chen Sisi's words and continuing to move forward, fighting in his mind.
Only viewers with a God's perspective could see that the ground not far behind Rong Le was collapsing rapidly, almost following his last step. If he had stopped for a second or two, he would have fallen into the abyss behind him.
The people in front were still walking forward at their own pace without realizing it.
——In the end, Thor chose to believe in himself.
His steps hesitated for only a moment, almost imperceptibly, and then he continued forward.
The moment he made the decision, Thor's legs trembled as he took the next step.
Only Bai Tutu behind him knew that Thor's hands were as cold as ice and his palms were covered with cold sweat.
Thor chose to trust his own judgment.
Rong Le decided to give him this task, which means that he believes in his ability and he will definitely complete this task.
It was not until he took a few steps that Thor's frozen mind began to work again, and he gradually became certain of his judgment.
If something really goes wrong, the team will not move forward and other teammates will warn him.
However, whether it was Bai Tutu's tight grip on his hand behind him or the silent footsteps, it showed that they had no objection.
Footsteps...why are there no footsteps?
Thor's heart was pounding. Why couldn't he hear the breathing behind him?
The teammates behind him...are they still his teammates?
He recited in a trembling voice: "Three hundred and eighty-four, three hundred and eighty-five... three, three hundred and eighty-six..."
How terrible, how terrible, could he have gotten separated from them?
Where had he counted to? Had he made a mistake? Why was his mind so confused?
Only the audience could see that the road in front of Thor was gradually becoming illusory. This time they did not stand still. Not far ahead was the left road that was about to take shape.
KP's dice kept rolling along the way.
[Sanity Assessment: Thor: 100/1, Great Success.]
Current sanity value: 100
…
[Sanity Assessment: Thor: 100/1, Great Success.]
Current sanity value: 100
When Thor finally counted to the agreed-upon four hundred and thirty steps, everyone stopped according to the force being transferred.
Thor's trembling voice rang out: "You can open your eyes now."
Everyone opened their eyes.
Rong Le then heard the system prompt sound: [Thor's sanity judgment rule ends.]
[Current SAN value: 100.]
Rong Le: “.”
It seems like something really interesting happened just now.
The barrage immediately exploded:
"Fuck, that's awesome!"
"It's cheating, Thor has locked SAN, right?"
"What the hell, what the hell, KP is so defeated, he's so helpless by the end of the dice!"
"Thor is the eternal God, super loud, you are the eternal God!"
"Thighs, it's thighs!"
Although Thor always looks weak and cowardly, with even less presence than Sheng Mao, as if he can't bear everyone's expectations at all, the facts prove that Rong Le has such a good vision, and Thor is worthy of 30% tampering of the module.
Whether it was the fact that he faced the evil god without losing SAN, or his performance along the way, Thor was well-deserved of the title of an excellent investigator.
When Thor opened his eyes and saw that there really was a road on the left, his legs went weak and he almost collapsed to the ground.
Tina wordlessly grabbed the back of his collar and helped him stand steadily.
Thor's eyes were filled with tears as he choked up and said, "I was so scared. I thought Senior Sisi had really given me a warning and you guys were no longer behind me."
Chen Sisi was a little surprised and said, "I didn't say anything just now."
Everyone also knew nothing about what happened to Thor.
Rong Le looked back calmly, as if nothing had happened: "Well done, Thor."
Thor was immediately in a good mood after receiving the recognition, and it seemed as if all the difficult choices he had made before had disappeared.
Rong Le: "In the situation just now, the person leading the way will indeed be subjected to more mental attacks, but Thor's will is strong enough, which is why I let him lead the way."
This team was formed in a hurry and still needs some time to get used to each other.
He has an obligation to bring everyone together as a whole, and for this he doesn't mind letting Thor show his role at the right time.
They did not waste any more time here. After the road appeared on the left, the central building on the right appeared clearly in everyone's sight.
When they hurried to the first floor of the building, Rong Le confirmed the current time through the electronic screen.
Nine fifty-five.
That stretch of road took them nearly fifteen minutes, and if they had been a little later, they would have been late.
The others immediately found the elevator, but even after pressing the button, the elevator continued to move back and forth on the upper floors. It was obvious that it would take several more minutes to wait for the elevator to land.
Rong Le: "Take the stairs."
They would be able to reach the third floor soon. After receiving the order, everyone took action immediately, pushed open the door of the stairwell and walked in. Wang Qi picked up Chen Sisi, and his movements looked very skilled.
Sheng Mao picked up Chen Sisi's wheelchair, and the seven of them rushed to the third floor as quickly as possible. This time they did not encounter any particular danger.
They successfully found the conference room. The clock on the wall was fixed at 9:58. There were many chairs in the room. A young woman was standing at the podium at the front, flipping through something.
"Hello, we are the new employees who need to join this time."
Woman: "Great, you're not late. Please take a seat. I'm your interviewer, and another colleague and I will be taking you through your onboarding process. He'll be here soon, so please wait a moment."
Everyone felt relieved and found a place to sit together. It really didn't take long as the woman said. When the pointer pointed to the hour, footsteps were heard at the door on time.
Everyone looked at each other, knowing that if they didn't arrive at the meeting room within the specified time, these two foundation employees might have to meet everyone in a different identity.
[Role Mission: 1. Successfully joined the Foundation and became an employee. Completed.]
If we examine the pitfalls this mission creates for new employees, setting aside the various rules themselves, if they hide in their rooms for a long time out of fear, don't ask the relatively friendly building manager for instructions, and don't quickly realize that the path is wrong and find a way to pass...
They all need to be cold.
Only by making the right choice decisively can this seemingly simple task be accomplished.
"Yes, it seems that the quality of this year's employees is very high, and they all came on time."
The man pushed the door open and came in with a relieved expression.
"Now the Operations Department can't come to HR to complain about being understaffed. With the new blood coming in, how long they can last depends on themselves."
The man said these terrible words with a smile on his face, as if he didn't notice the shocked expressions of the new employees. He walked over to the women and said to them:
"Welcome everyone to the Foundation. We are the members of the Human Resources Department responsible for employee onboarding. First of all, congratulations on passing the most basic test, proving your ability, and obtaining the qualifications. Next, we need to make a secondary assignment for you."
"Some of you will be assigned to the civilian department, and others to the executive department. We have your basic resumes here. Based on your personal strengths and experience, you will be assigned to jobs that you are more skilled in."
"Of course, we will consider employees' opinions if there are sufficient reasons or strong requests. You can also ask any questions you have."
Bai Tutu raised her hand and the man motioned for her to speak.
"The civilian sector is understandable, but the executive sector is...?"
Man: "The executive department is primarily responsible for the collection control and security of the collection, and requires employees to possess a certain degree of force."
"Sometimes, I need to travel to recover artifacts based on intelligence from civilian departments. So it's a job with a certain degree of risk, but it also offers a slightly higher status and faster promotions."
here we go again.
The operating model of this organization is very similar to that of the Collection Museum in all aspects. This strange sense of familiarity appeared faintly when Rong Le just woke up. The thinking mode of the mastermind behind the control of the foundation always matched his brain waves.
Even though she hadn't seen the entire foundation yet, Rong Le felt that its operating mechanisms, such as spatial layout and personnel control, would probably be very similar to those of the collection center.
At this point in time, the Archives has already become a powerful emerging force, while the Foundation is hiding in the shadows, like a fanatical imitator, copying the operating model of most departments.
But the collection hall is also mysterious, how could anyone expose its core background? From what Rong Le has seen along the way, the foundation has a deep foundation, which was not formed overnight.
Their rules and regulations are so novel that there is no need to copy them from other organizations.
The foundation in front of Rong Le was covered with a veil of mystery, which made people want to explore and see the true face hidden underneath.
For investigators with normal thinking ability, the civil service department is obviously safer. Work such as organizing documents and intelligence will never be as dangerous as the executive department.
Even though the Executive Branch was clearly a half-level higher and had more access to the Foundation's core secrets, no one would prefer to be there.
But the people present were all elite investigators from the University of Michigan, and they didn't flinch at all at the man's words.
Everyone looked at each other, and Sheng Mao asked, "So what departments are we assigned to?"
The man walked over to where the woman had been and read out, "The civil service department is Chen Sisi, Rong Le, Bai Tutu, and Thor. The executive department is Tina, Sheng Mao, and Wang Qi."
It was obvious that the division was indeed based on written abilities. Even though Rong Le didn't know what was written in their respective files, he guessed that on his resume, he was a perfect civilian member.
Rong Le pondered for a moment and said, "I'll apply to be transferred to the executive department and switch positions with Wang Qi. Chen Sisi has difficulty moving around, and Wang Qi has been taking care of her for a long time. The two of them will be able to integrate into the work environment more quickly together."
"I can handle various emergencies and am more suitable for the executive department."
The man touched his chin thoughtfully, and after whispering with the woman for a while, he said to Wang Qi, "He asked to switch places with you. Do you agree?"
Wang Qi frowned when she read out the list. If Bai Tutu, who was also a woman, was not there to be taken care of, she would probably jump out on the spot.
Before this, she and Chen Sisi had already prepared for the possibility of being separated during the operation, but no matter what, it was not as convenient as having her by Chen Sisi's side, and it was not good to always trouble others.
Wang Qi looked at Rong Le gratefully and said to the man, "I do."
Wang Qi's ability is to predict lies. Among all the resumes that were not very good, she was the only choice to be assigned to the executive department. Now that there is a suitable candidate to replace her, the department transfer was completed smoothly.
After the most important part was over, the man also gave them a brief introduction to the job.
The foundation is divided into four major areas: residential area, office area, exhibition area and open area.
They had just come out of the residential area, and right next door was the office area, making commuting very convenient. Each employee was equipped with a corresponding independent dormitory, and only a symbolic management fee was charged.
The salary is a base salary plus performance-based model. Normally, if the executive department assigns enough tasks, the salary will be higher.
The display area is where the collections are stored. Entrance requires authorization and is the most strictly guarded and important area of the Foundation.
The open area is used for reception, exhibition and other purposes.
However, the activities of these grassroots employees are limited to residential areas and office areas, and they rarely have the opportunity to come into contact with other areas.
After explaining the basic situation according to the procedure, the woman was responsible for reporting with the civilian department, and the man took the executive department. Several people took the elevator. The woman took Bai Tutu and others out on the fifth floor, and the man took them to the sixth floor.
The team was separated like this, and it seemed that they could only reunite after get off work.
The man led them to a large, bright office. He knocked on the open door and said with a smile, "I'm here to bring in the new recruits. I'll leave the rest to you."
"There are actually three new people this time, and they look pretty good."
The man near the door took the files of Rong Le and the other two from his hands. Before he had time to take a closer look, his eyes were fixed on Tina, followed by Rong Le and Sheng Mao.
The man who led them here briefly handed over a few words and then left. The man who spoke seemed to be a cadre in the office. His surname was Wang and his position was a first-level prosecutor.
He said you can call him Brother Wang or Old Wang.
Lao Wang found a workstation for the three of them to sit down. Rong Le happened to sit next to Lao Wang. Lao Wang was the only one in his row of workstations, so it looked very quiet.
Tina sat on the other side near the door. The distance between her and Rong Le made him a little anxious, but his good qualities allowed him to suppress his emotions and deal with the situation calmly.
Sheng Mao sat diagonally opposite Rong Le, and half of his face could be seen. According to the grouping, Rong Le and Sheng Mao were probably in the same group.
At this time, we have to mention the situation distribution of the office.
Although the office was spacious enough, it seemed that there were very few employees inside... In fact, there were indeed very few. The occupancy rate of the workstations was only about 30%. According to Rong Le's previous quick look around the situation while standing at the door, judging by the marks on the desk, only about 80% of all employees were there.
The remaining employees looked relaxed and unfocused. When the HR department came, they just raised their eyelids. They had a very arrogant air and seemed difficult to mess with.
Lao Wang looked very smiling and easy to talk to. "This is your first day on the job, so there aren't any particularly important tasks for you to do. First, familiarize yourself with the work environment. You've probably seen other rules along the way, too. You need to remember our department's rules, as they'll be very helpful in your work."
"Don't be afraid of them. We'll all be colleagues from now on. Everyone's been a bit busy lately, with a lot of people out on the field. These kids just came back and are exhausted."
Lao Wang took out a few pieces of paper and gave them to Rong Le Shengmao, and Tina on the other side.
There were two sets of rules in total, and Rong Le read the staff rules first.
【Staff Code of Conduct】
Congratulations on your successful joining the Foundation and becoming a member of our extended family. We offer excellent benefits and a bright future. Please uphold the Foundation's fine traditions and abide by the following rules:
First, obey your superiors' orders. Your superiors' orders are absolute and must be carried out unconditionally. Everyone only needs to obey orders from their immediate superiors and cannot accept orders from higher levels. If someone asks you to do a certain job, do not agree to it and ask your superior first.
Second, comply with the Foundation's rules and regulations. Consciously maintain the rules and order. If you can sincerely and perfectly abide by the rules, you will become a qualified Foundation employee.
Third, the interests of the Foundation are your primary goal. Things that are in the Foundation's best interest have the highest priority, and all rules and orders must give way to them. If you happen to encounter such a situation, you can terminate your work and prioritize completing the mission. Rest assured, your superiors and the Foundation will not blame you.
Fourth, actively contribute to the foundation. As an excellent employee, you must have the mindset of never giving up. To survive here, please carefully hide your little thoughts and don't let them catch you. Otherwise, you will be torn to pieces by the fanatical foundation staff.
Finally, good luck to the new employees of the Foundation.
This code of conduct is roughly divided into four aspects: obeying orders, abiding by rules, creating value, and high-level thinking.
There seems to be a deeper secret hidden in this rule, but it still needs to be verified.
Chen Sisi was right. The rules in other areas were obviously not as friendly as those in the residential area. Rong Le could feel the deep malice hidden in them just by reading them once.
He couldn't help but wonder, do rules have to be followed?
Logically speaking, it is right to abide by the rules. The foundation is established by rules, and the employee code of conduct tells them how to be excellent employees.
But the last one blatantly tells them that you don’t have to comply with the rules as long as you are not discovered.
Rong Le doesn't think this contradiction is a coincidence.
He kept this doubt in mind and turned to the next set of rules.
Since it is divided into civil service and executive departments, the two departments should also have different rules.
...When I meet Bai Tutu and the others again, I'll ask them what their rules are.
