Chapter 329: Dark Light Queen

Chapter 329: Dark Light Queen

When Anno returned to her palace, it was almost midnight.

She would normally be asleep by this time, but she was unusually excited.

Nancy followed behind her and watched as she emerged from the Treasure Palace. Her mood had clearly improved, and she walked with a lighter step, even playing with the star-tailed butterflies beside her.

Seeing her happy expression, Nancy's lips curled up slightly, thinking to herself that the Queen's decision to give the little prince some leeway had a positive effect.

Anno stood at the doorway of the room, peering inside.

Her gaze swept across the room and she saw her mother still sitting in front of the sofa, handling government affairs, with various projected screens flashing in front of her.

She felt guilty for having spent so much time with Sitar earlier, and tiptoed over to Sevier.

"My darling is back?" Sevier looked up at her.

Anno sat down next to Sevier. "Mom, it's so late. You should get some rest. You can look at these things tomorrow."

Sevier put her arm around her, quickly typing information on several projected screens before turning them off.

Having awakened from the abyss for just over two years, she was already proficient in using the quantum computer; the Queen Insect's learning ability has always been very strong.

"Did you have fun?" Sevier saw that her emotions had calmed down a bit, her slender fingers gliding along her cheek, her eyes filled with a gentle smile as she looked at her.

Hearing these seemingly pointed words, Anno coughed lightly, and her ears involuntarily turned red as she thought of the times she spent with Sitar.

Fortunately, her hair covered her.

She leaned on Sevier's shoulder, concealing her fluctuating emotions.

"Happy," she replied softly.

Séville kissed her forehead. "I'm glad you're happy. Did you go to the Treasury to look at the portraits of past queens?"

Anno's heart skipped a beat, feeling as if she had been caught red-handed. She glanced guiltily at Sevier.

Seeing the obvious look on her face, Sevier chuckled and pinched her small nose. "You saw the portrait of the previous queen, my mother. My consciousness can sense it."

"I haven't heard my mother's voice for a very long time."

Seeing that her mother wasn't there to interrogate her, Anuo felt relieved and asked curiously, "Mom, what is your mother, the Dark Light Queen, like?"

In the Zerg race, the Overlord only exists for two generations. Only after the Queen falls and a new Queen inherits the throne will the next generation of Overlords be born. Therefore, there is no concept of grandparents. Anno, an inheritor Overlord, will only call his mother's mother "Queen" and will not call her "Grandma".

This is also why Sevier doesn't accept Spark calling Anunu "Mom." As long as she's alive, Anunu will always be her baby. How could Anunu possibly have her own child?

The closest kinship ties for baby queen beetles are only their parents and their male king beetle.

"My mother...?"

Seeing Anunu's curious gaze, Sevier patted her head and looked at the flickering flames in the fireplace in front of her, reminiscing about her mother.

Her mother, Darklight, could be described as a ruthless queen. If it weren't for the long lifespan of the Queen Worm, Darklight's ruthless rule would have lasted for nearly a thousand years, during which other interstellar civilizations would have undergone generations of renewal and gradually forgotten about Queen Darklight. Otherwise, her reputation would have been enough to strike fear into the hearts of other civilizations.

At the height of the Dark Light Queen's reign, no other star system dared to send ships over the outer reaches of the Zerg star system for fear of being attacked, let alone establishing diplomatic relations with the Zerg.

Any other civilization that dares to covet the Zerg's energy ore, even if they steal a piece the size of a fingernail, will be psychologically traumatized by the Dark Light Queen and forced to pay back a thousandfold in return.

This deterred other civilizations from touching any planets or objects under the Zerg's rule, and they didn't even dare to say a bad word about the Zerg on the Skynet.

A politician from the Interstellar Alliance expressed his dissatisfaction with the Zerg. The next day, the politician was bruised and battered, crying and apologizing, and even compensated the Zerg for a considerable amount of "emotional damages."

Because of her mother's strength and excellence, Sevier always had an insurmountable obstacle in her heart.

The hurdle is that Anunu was stolen.

She kept thinking that if her mother were here, Anunu would never have been stolen, and she would never have suffered so much.

Therefore, even after all these years, she still feels that she cannot surpass her mother.

From a young age, her mother was extremely strict with her.

She hadn't even stood firmly after hatching when she started fighting in her original form.

Her tiny claws weren't sharp enough, and her outer armor hadn't fully grown in yet; her first battle was a complete disaster.

I kept dodging, my heart filled with fear.

Her mother threw her to the bottom of a ore pit and watched from above as she fought against several familiars who were close to adulthood.

She had just hatched and was still a baby who wanted to cuddle with her mother, but her mother never held her.

She cried, wanting her mother to hold her, not wanting to fight, but the instinct for survival forced her to face the attacks of her kin.

Under their mother's orders, these relatives relentlessly attacked her. Although they controlled their strength appropriately, they still managed to beat her half to death.

Her claws were broken, several of her accessory limbs were broken, and her exoskeleton was shattered. She cried out in pain.

But her mother isolated the energy at the bottom of the mine, forbidding her from absorbing any energy, and made her climb up from the bottom of the mine on her own.

She refused no matter what she said, and her mother looked at her coldly: "If you don't climb up, you will die, starve to death, or die from exhaustion. The Zerg will not want such a useless successor."

"You were born to be the strongest fighting branch of the Zerg, so you must fight!"

She cried for a while at the bottom of the pit, but the instinct for survival and the bloodthirstiness of the Queen Worm from her genes made her start to climb up.

Before her wings had fully grown, they were severed by the sharp limbs of her kin, rendering her unable to fly. She could only slowly climb up from the bottom of the mine.

Her claws were injured, and every crawl was excruciatingly painful.

She finally climbed halfway up, only to slip and fall back to the bottom of the pit. She climbed again and again, only to slip and fall again. At first, she was discouraged, but in the end, she became more and more determined and gritted her teeth to climb to the ground.

She climbed for two days, and her mother stood in the same spot for two days without moving an inch, watching her the whole time.

Seeing her mother's tall figure, she mustered up her courage.

"It's not too bad." After she climbed up, her mother still didn't touch her, but let her walk back to the palace by herself.

She was quite a distance from the palace, and it took her a whole day to walk there.

Her mother always walked ahead of her, keeping a distance that was neither too close nor too far, no matter how fast or slow she walked. Even when she could no longer walk and cried for her mother to carry her, or acted stubbornly and refused to walk, her mother would just watch her quietly.

She was starving and, after realizing that nothing worked for her mother, she had no choice but to continue following behind her in order to avoid starving to death.

Back at the palace, she ate her meal while crying fiercely.

She would pounce on anyone who dared to approach her food and bite them, while her mother calmly watched her.

From that moment on, she knew that her mother would never indulge or soften her heart towards her.

Her wounds hadn't fully healed before she had to continue fighting. Her tender exoskeleton and claws fell off with each battle, and new ones grew, becoming even sharper and harder.

In the years that followed, she would often cry, and her mother's training of her became increasingly harsh. When she was fifteen, her mother sent her to the battlefield.

This battle made her suddenly understand the meaning behind her mother's training.

This was her first real battle. Her Zerg kin charged into battle for her, facing enemy shells without flinching, and shielding her time and time again.

Her instinctive fear, coupled with the genes of the Queen Insect, made her incredibly determined to confront her fear and throw herself into the battle.

The battle lasted for several days, and the Zerg did not gain much advantage. She watched helplessly as her Zerg followers dwindled in number. When she and her followers were surrounded and searched by the enemy, they hid at the bottom of a huge crater created by artillery shells. Without any food, they could only wait patiently for an opportunity to counterattack while starving at the bottom of the crater.

It was an extremely difficult period. She knew how cruel her mother was to her, and that even if she died on the battlefield, her mother would not come to save her. So she was on high alert, and she could only survive by fighting on her own.

During those days, she stayed at the bottom of the pit, looking up at the sky, remembering the days when her mother threw her to fight at the bottom of the pit.

Perhaps this is the meaning of her mother's training: to ensure she wouldn't die in battle and to prevent her from backing down in the face of the enemy.

Let her understand that her family members are willing to give everything for the Ohmu and are not afraid of sacrifice.

The Queen Worm also has to bear the responsibility for the entire Zerg race.

The King Worm is the Zerg, and the Zerg is the King Worm; they are inseparable.

A few days later, she led her family to climb out of the pit and successfully launched a counterattack against the enemy, achieving a Pyrrhic victory.

She knelt on the shattered battlefield, her body covered in blood.

A tall figure appeared before her. She looked up and saw her mother clad in armor, exuding a powerful aura.

Her mother patted her head and handed her a knife forged from the finest energy ore.

She froze; this was the first time in her memory that her mother had touched her.

But after that one time, her mother remained strict, so strict that she was no longer allowed to call her "mother," but instead, like the other family members, she was to be called "Queen."

She only called her "Mother" for fifteen years; for the next hundred years, she called her "Your Majesty."

Once she reached adulthood, the Darklight Queen forbade her to live in the palace and instead sent her to the front-line base to guard the Zerg's battle line.

She fought relentlessly, got injured repeatedly, and grew stronger with each battle.

Through repeated injuries, her claws became as sharp as steel knives, and her exoskeleton became indestructible.

She began to want to surpass her mother.

During the years she was away, she had very few family members by her side. Her mother would assign family members with different abilities to different positions.

The mother had no relatives by her side, and she didn't care whether these relatives were her servants or not; she just did what she was supposed to do.

When it's time for them to breed, just follow the procedures; otherwise, just focus on your work.

The mother always sat aloof on her throne, looking down upon the world; she was so powerful that she needed no embellishment.
