Chapter 40: The Core
Amidst the firelight, Caesar gazed at Anno with utmost reverence.
This was the first time he had ever seen the Little Queen Insect since birth, but he was already extremely familiar with her energy aura, which was almost etched into his flesh and blood.
When he was still an egg, the Queen imprinted her energy mark into a group of eggs with outstanding energy and talent, so that they could remember her energy aura, prepare for finding the little Queen Bee in the future, and also select the best family members for her.
Before each king ascends the throne, he has his own retinue. When the old king succeeds the new king, the retinue must also be of a stronger generation. This is for the better succession and continuation of the throne.
The Zerg will only have one Overlord and one Lesser Overlord, who are the most important beings and the source of their faith. The Lesser Overlord, as the successor, is the future of the entire Zerg, but their Lesser Overlord has been stolen.
From birth, Caesar was given the most important task of the Zerg: to retrieve the stolen baby Queen.
He searched for traces of the Little King Bugs throughout the universe, leaving no planet unchecked. Every Zerg that reached the Vanguard level had its own innate abilities, and he possessed two. One of his abilities was spatial ability, which the Alliance called the R-type wormhole.
With this ability, he can also find the little king worm more effectively.
But after searching for many years without success, amidst the vast universe and faint hope, he never stopped his search.
Now, he has finally found it.
From birth, he fought for her. He constantly improved himself and challenged stronger people. His abilities were outstanding, far surpassing those of his peers. Now he is the strongest Zerg vanguard.
They were finally worthy to stand beside the future king.
He was born for her.
Only after seeing the little king insect did he feel that his life had been illuminated and given meaning.
Caesar said respectfully to Anno, "Your Highness, I will take you home now."
Anno paused slightly, understanding one word in his sentence: "go home".
Her home?
She had lived on Earth for sixteen years, but she was never homeless; none of the places she stayed were her home.
She tilted her head, looking at Caesar with a puzzled expression. "Home?"
The word "go home" evoked her deepest, most hidden longings and held immense allure for her.
The idea that Lokin and the others would take her to a new home was far more enticing than what Caesar had suggested, as if the word itself was etched into her very being.
Caesar looked at her tenderly. "Yes, let's go home."
After saying that, he reached out his hand to Anuo. Something in Anuo's heart strongly urged her to walk with the man in front of her, and she placed her hand in his.
Caesar felt the little princess's warm and soft little hand and sighed softly. He was about to use his ability to take her away when he suddenly noticed the light band hanging on the little princess's shoulder and sensed something was wrong.
He stared at her band of light for a while, then whispered to her, "Your Highness, I apologize for the intrusion."
As he spoke, he held Anno's light band in his hand, and a surge of energy overflowed from his fingertips, flowing into her body along her light band.
Anno felt the energy and his body trembled. He opened his eyes slightly and took two steps back, taking the light band back from Caesar's hand.
"Your Highness, you..."
Caesar's usually calm expression betrayed a hint of shock, his eyes filled with disbelief.
The young prince's core has disappeared?!
No wonder, no wonder he couldn't find the little princess after searching for so many years. It wasn't until he placed his clones in various star systems that he finally found her in the Northern River Star System.
The people in the Northern River system are incredibly audacious! How dare they do this!
Caesar clenched his fist, the veins on the back of his hand bulging. He stood up and turned his back to Anno.
No, I can't let the young prince see him looking angry.
Caesar closed his eyes and watched as the flames in the control room gradually died down. The three rebels had been captured, and the others were pointing their weapons at him.
As Luo Jin, Tang Ting, and the others watched the Zerg vanguard activate its shield to separate him from the cub, their hearts were in their throats.
They dared not act rashly. The little cub might be of use to the rebels and other races in the alliance, so they would not easily harm her. But the Zerg were a different story. They only valued their own race and would not show any pity for other creatures.
Moreover, they are eccentric and do things without warning, making it difficult for others to understand their thoughts.
Caesar gave them a cold glance and dialed the king's communication.
The call was answered after two rings, and a hoarse voice came from the other end: "You've seen the baby?"
Hearing the king's weary voice, Caesar paused for a moment before saying, "I've seen him. The young prince is well..."
The other end of the line detected the hesitation in Caesar's voice: "Something's missing."
Caesar replied in a deep voice, "Augsis, the little princess's core is missing."
His genes are imprinted with the energy of the Little Queen Insect. She is his new queen, and he is her exclusive servant. His abilities are the strongest among the insect race. He can call the queen by her name, but he cannot call the Little Queen Insect by her name, because the Little Queen Insect is always above him.
After he finished speaking, the communication fell into a long silence.
After a long pause, the voice on the other end finally rang out, "I understand. Come back now and let them take care of it."
Caesar took a deep breath, suppressing his rising anger. "Augussis, did you already know?"
"Yes, it was a guess before, but now it's confirmed."
"Augsis, let me..."
“Come back. There’s nothing you can do now. It will take her some time to regenerate her core. At present, her energy cannot withstand my core. You are her subordinate. If you are exposed, her situation will not be good.”
Augsis's voice was devoid of emotion, but in the palace on a certain planet, everything was already in ruins. The energy carrying violent rage spread to every corner inside and outside the palace, pressing down on the people so that their hearts were almost shattered, and they all trembled and prostrated themselves on the ground.
The Zerg on the main planet were momentarily confused about what had happened. The King had never been so angry before. No... there was only one other time, when the eggs of the little King Zerg were stolen, his violent energy leveled an entire mountain.
"I see."
Caesar hung up the call, quickly composed himself, and turned to look at Anno.
Seeing the young prince looking up at him, he squatted down.
As Augsis just said, the young prince has lost his core and cannot survive in the Zerg environment.
It's not that we can't forcibly take her back, but she's currently fused with the fire genes of the Northern River system, making her more suitable to grow in their environment for the time being.
The spark is very precious to the people of the Northern River system, and they will treat it well. But it originally belonged to them, to their insectoid offspring.
