Chapter 457: Remember the Name
The night in Sky City was a bit chilly. Anno sat under a streetlamp, watching the few pedestrians on the street and the busy staff.
Every now and then, some celestial beings would try to strike up a conversation with her, but upon seeing Fei, their smiles would immediately vanish, and they would not dare to approach her.
Anuo turned to look at Fei: "They're afraid of you. Your number is 02. Who's 01?"
Hido: "01...is dead."
Anuo was taken aback, and Fei Yu said to her in a calm tone, "In that riot many years ago, half of the top ten knife slaves, numbered 01, 03, 04, 06, and 08, died."
Anno asked, "So, your abilities are ranked according to numbers?"
Fei nodded: "At first, yes, but the strength of abilities is not static. The abilities of the top ten are not too different."
Anno then asked, "What happened during that riot?"
Fei Dao said, "It's because of the dissatisfaction of the lower-level Celestials with the upper-level ones, as well as some internal political turmoil. Many sword slaves wanted to escape the control of the Celestials and took advantage of that riot to try to escape from the City of Heaven."
Anno knew that Lingjiu was one of the survivors of the riot, along with Xiaoshi and the others.
"Didn't you ever think about running away?"
Those who tried to escape either managed to get away or were punished; Fei was definitely not one of them.
It looked like a knife that was well controlled.
"No."
Fei's tone was somewhat hesitant. He lowered his eyes and looked somewhat confused. "Perhaps I have thought about it, but I... I am just a knife, and I must obey the king's orders."
Anuo knew that Fei was harder to resist than Lingjiu and the others, as he was directly under Xi's command.
"Your Highness."
After a moment of silence, Fei suddenly spoke up: "Why don't you ask 01 and the others how they died?"
Anno had already guessed it. She shook her head. "I don't want to know. I used to be just like you, a sharp knife. They also tried to control me, but I was slightly better off than you. They weren't as powerful as Xi. I could control my own thoughts, but you couldn't. Your soul and your consciousness were suppressed and controlled by them. Everything you did before was just manipulated by them."
Fei suddenly looked up, his gaze falling on Anuo's face, intently looking into her eyes.
Anno removed the cloth from his face. "Don't always wear a mask. You are not a tool. You are Fei. You are unique. Don't let them control you. Learn to resist. It's okay if you can't do it. But don't become numb. Keep resisting. As long as you do it, there is hope of success."
Fei Yi grasped her hand, her eyes fixed on her.
Anno saw him lean closer and said, "Do you know that you are much braver than the other members of the family?"
Fei paused for a moment, then said, "I don't know, I just want to get closer to you."
Anno placed his hand on the back of his neck, pressing against the base of his cervical spine, and could feel the heat emanating from his spine.
She drew upon a portion of her core energy to activate her Queen Worm's power: "You only need to remember your name. The Zerg are born with names. As long as you remember your name, you will never forget who you are, where you come from, or what you need to do."
When Anno was on Earth, she knew her name was Anunu. Because of the Ohmu's protective mechanism, she didn't know her true identity. She only knew that she wasn't from Earth and that her home was in a very, very far place, deep in the starry sky.
But as long as you remember your name, you will surely be guided.
“Okay, I’ll remember.” Fei looked at her, her Adam’s apple bobbing slightly, and moved even closer to Anuo, their foreheads almost touching.
Anuo smelled the pheromones emanating from him again. She placed her hand on his shoulder, stopping him from getting any closer.
"Only when you are no longer under my control, and when you tell me yourself who you are, will I acknowledge you as truly my kin. Right now, you are still bound by the City of Heaven. When you return to that golden palace, you will become 02 again."
Her crimson eyelashes trembled and drooped slightly, covering her somewhat disappointed eyes.
In the distance, Zero Seven and Eleven stood in the shadows, looking in their direction.
From their perspective, Anuo and Fei were very close together.
Eleven asked with some surprise, "That prince is the queen insect of the insect race. Isn't it said that the insect race doesn't like to have contact with outsiders? Why does it seem like the princess really likes 02?"
Lingqi replied indifferently, "What, are you envious?"
Eleven smiled and said, "I was just curious. I see you seem quite envious."
Lingqi looked away, glanced at him, and said, "You should think about how to get Xiaoshi out of here. Are you just going to keep avoiding her like this?"
Eleven leaned against the wall: "She must be very disappointed in me and won't want to see me."
Lingqi leaned against the wall: "You're planning to never tell her that you stayed because of her, and that if you left, she wouldn't be able to leave."
Eleven's expression changed drastically, and he said in a low voice, "What nonsense are you talking about? Xiao Shi and Ling Jiu are all... they are all traitors of Heavenly City. I never thought of leaving."
At this point, Eleven closed his eyes and said coldly, "It's all that traitor Lingjiu's fault. If it weren't for him, my brothers wouldn't have died. My brothers trusted him so much."
Eleven took a deep breath and punched the wall: "He left, but he also dragged my brother and the others down with him. Why couldn't he have planned more thoroughly? If he couldn't take everyone with him, why did he leave? Why did he have to kill them!"
Lingqi silently watched the streetlights along the street. The night was engulfing the City of Heaven, just as the abyss was swallowing them up.
“Don’t forget,” Zero Seven suddenly spoke, saying to Eleven, “He helped you win a match in a gladiatorial contest, so you didn’t lose an arm.”
Eleven cursed under his breath. If he hadn't remembered, he wouldn't have let Ling Jiu go when he left.
"Take good care of Xiao Shi, and take her with you! Don't ever come back!"
The scene from that time resurfaced in Eleven's mind. He had entrusted Xiao Shi to him, but this time he brought Xiao Shi back. How could he not hate him!
We finally escaped from the City of Heaven, why come back? So many of our comrades died to gain our freedom, why come back?
Thinking of this, Shiyi turned to look at Anuo and 02.
Anno came in with Lingjiu and the others. Could it be that she was the reason for their entry? She is the Queen of the Zerg, and Sky City is actually a very dangerous place for her. The only reason she could have entered was the teleportation channel connecting to the outside world.
If that's the case, once the teleportation channel opens, Xiao Shi and the others might also have a chance to go outside of Lyca.
The fact that this princess has stayed in the City of Heaven for so long without leaving shows that their queen does not want to let her go.
"It's late and the night is chilly, Your Highness. I'll take you back to rest," Fei said to Anuo.
Anno stood up. "No rush, it's still early. Their banquet isn't over yet. I don't want to talk to them. Let's walk around some more."
Fei Xin said, "So it turns out you didn't want to stay with Caius and the others."
Fei accompanied Anuo as they walked down the street. There were many shops on both sides of the street, and the shops were beautifully and luxuriously decorated, but Anuo had no desire to go in. Back when she was in Tianyun, she would always go out with Caesar and the others on her days off.
Although they don't particularly enjoy talking to strangers, with her family members around, she doesn't need to communicate with others.
Thinking of this, she missed them a little. She wondered how they were doing in Tianyun after she had been missing for so long.
Perhaps he is no longer in Tianyun, having been summoned back by his mother.
She knew that they, her mother and father, must be very anxious right now.
Anuo lowered her eyes, looking at her and Fei's shadows on the ground. She missed home and her mother.
A worker in overalls and a baseball cap walked past them and then stopped diagonally in front of Anno.
Anno stopped in his tracks, sensing a familiar presence, and looked toward the tall, slender figure.
Their eyes met, and Anno saw a pair of beautiful golden eyes.
Her eyes widened slightly. "Caesar!"
She had only taken two steps forward when Fei drew her long sword from her waist and attacked Caesar.
"Wait, Fei, stop!"
Anno wanted to tell Fei to stop, but at this moment he reverted to being the 02 who only obeyed orders, attacking Caesar with a cold expression.
Caesar drew his sword to block Fei's attack, his brow furrowing. "Are you a Zerg?"
Having said that, he gave a cold laugh: "Someone like you doesn't deserve to stay by His Highness's side. As a member of the Zerg, to actually risk your life for an outsider is a disgrace to the Zerg!"
After he finished speaking, Fei's attacks became even more ferocious.
Zero Seven and Eleven, who were secretly protecting them from behind, saw that something was wrong and rushed over quickly, drawing their swords and attacking Caesar.
Just as Anno was considering whether to join in, a hand reached out from the shadows and pulled her.
Anno turned her head and met a pair of deep blue eyes.
"Sitael?"
Sitar pulled her into a nearby alley and hugged her tightly.
Anno wrapped her arms tightly around his waist. "What are you doing here? What if we get caught?"
Sitar lowered his head and kissed her forehead. "It's alright. Caesar and I came out to look for something. We sensed your presence nearby. Now Caesar can use short-range spatial portals, so they can't catch us."
Anno peeked out and saw that a few more people had joined the fight, including Lingjiu and the two who were with Xiaoshi.
“We…” Sitar wanted to tell Anno about their recent situation, but Anno quickly covered his mouth, “Don’t tell me, she’ll find out.”
Sitar took a deep breath and hugged her tightly. "We'll be home soon."
Anno smiled slightly and said, "I know, I believe in you and Caesar."
As he spoke, Anno reached out and pulled down Sitar's collar, revealing his fair neck, where there were still some dark bruises.
She pulled her clothes down a little more, revealing several teeth marks and scars around his collarbone.
"Tsk..." Anno looked up at Sitar, "You still kept it? Did you do it on purpose?"
Sitar's ears turned slightly red as he said, "It wasn't intentional, and no one else could see it."
Anno said "Oh," and then added, "Really?"
Sitar coughed lightly and leaned down to touch her forehead: "Your bite was too deep, it won't heal so quickly."
Anno raised an eyebrow: "So you're blaming me now?"
Sital: "No..."
Before he could finish speaking, Anno pulled down his neck and bit his lip.
