Chapter 485: Modern Era (If-Things) (13)
Anunu was taken into the classroom of Class 3, Grade 11.
As soon as she entered, she attracted the attention of all the students in the class.
"Shen Ning, is this your sister?"
The students gathered around, all exclaiming in amazement at the adorable little girl in the sheep-horned hat.
"Shen Ning, your sister is so cute! Is she really your sister? You two don't even look alike."
Shen Ning rolled her eyes at the boy who spoke. "What kind of eyes do you have? Didn't you see that the little girl has blue eyes? How could she be my sister? We just picked her up downstairs in the school building."
Several classmates laughed, and they all reached out to pat Anunu's head and lifted her up high.
Anunu was even more enthusiastic than the children in kindergarten, and for a moment she wanted to run away.
Just then, someone shouted, "Old Zhou is here! Quickly, sit down!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the noisy students gathered around quickly took their seats.
"Little sister, sit next to your older sister."
Shen Ning, who brought Anunu into the classroom, sat in the last row because of her height. She took a stool from the storage room and let Anunu sit between her and her deskmate.
The students sitting around them would occasionally turn around to look at Anunu. Seeing that she was neither crying nor making a fuss, and didn't even say a word, she was so well-behaved that they wanted to give her a good squeeze.
In a short while, quite a few classmates handed over small snacks.
Anunu originally wanted to leave, but Shen Ning opened a small bag of snacks for her. The taste was completely different from the snacks she usually ate, and it instantly captivated her taste buds.
Never mind, I'll go find Baroque later, since we're from the same school anyway.
Anunu thought to herself as she ate her snacks.
"Look at your test papers! You got the same question types we just went over a couple of days ago wrong again!"
Mr. Zhou, the math teacher, slammed a stack of test papers on the podium, his voice so loud it felt like the chalk dust on the blackboard was about to fall off.
Mr. Zhou, who was only in his early thirties, was already facing the risk of going bald. He scolded the group of high school students for five minutes, scratched his precarious hair, and had the quiz papers handed out.
When Shen Ning received the exam paper and saw the rows of bright red crosses on it, she sighed and scratched her frizzy long hair.
She slumped onto the table, exclaiming, "This damn math! I just can't do it! I've studied it so many times and I still can't understand it!"
"The in-class test was alright, but two of the questions were a bit tricky."
Shen Yue, who was sitting next to Shen Ning, spoke in a calm tone. Anunu glanced at Shen Ning's paper and then turned to look at Shen Yue's. Shen Yue's paper had almost no red marks and the number 130 was written on it, while Shen Ning's paper only had 75.
Although she didn't understand what her older brothers and sisters were learning, she could still see the scores and knew that they were learning math, but their math was completely different from the addition and subtraction of her digits.
Shen Ning was clearly not good at math. The teacher was already explaining the problem, and she was staring at the blackboard in front of her with a pained expression, holding her face in her hands.
Anuo watched as the teacher passionately explained the problem, banging on the blackboard as if he wanted to poke a hole in it.
She can now understand what they're saying, but she can't speak very well yet.
She listened for a while, then snuggled up to Shen Ning and looked at the questions on the test paper with her. The numbers and formulas entered her eyes and her mind, and her mind automatically transformed these questions into ones she recognized.
"Do you understand?"
Teacher Zhou was shouting at the top of his lungs, and then he called people up to do the problems.
The student who was called up scratched his head and wrote down the process, while Anunu glanced at the question and immediately had the answer in his mind.
These questions, compared to single-digit addition and subtraction, didn't seem much more difficult. The calculations did become more complicated, but Anunu automatically came up with the answers in her mind after reading the questions.
It's as if she has a wealth of knowledge in her mind, and this knowledge automatically comes to mind whenever she comes into contact with something related to it.
After explaining several examples, the teacher handed out another set of test papers and asked the students to start working on them.
Shen Yue, standing nearby, watched as Anunu's little head shoved close to Shen Ning's test paper, watching Shen Ning do the questions. She looked so adorable that he wanted to hold her in his arms and kiss her passionately.
"Shen Ning, where did you get such a little deity?"
After hearing this, Shen Ning patted Anunu's head and said, "I already said she's downstairs in the teaching building. We'll take her to find her homeroom teacher after class. Anyway, she's such a good girl."
Shen Yue said with some concern, "Why don't we just teach her to Lao Zhou? She looks only five or six years old. Maybe her family is worried if she gets lost."
Shen Ning glanced at Lao Zhou, who was drinking water from a thermos, and said, "I'm a little afraid of Lao Zhou. We only handed her over after half a class. Lao Zhou will probably scold us to death."
Shen Yue smiled and said in a low voice, "Old Zhou's eyesight is really good. He didn't even notice there was an extra person in the class."
Shen Ning: "She's not that tall. There are so many heads in front of her blocking her view. It would be strange if Lao Zhou could even see her. Shh, don't talk. Don't attract Lao Zhou's attention."
"Alright, alright, hurry up and do your questions, or you'll have to stay after school again."
The two of them secretly opened a few more bags of snacks for Anunu, using the food to keep her occupied. When other classmates glanced at them, the two glared back at them warningly, "Don't look, don't let Lao Zhou find out!"
Anunu squeezed between the two of them, watching them do their problems.
"Ugh, no way, what kind of stupid questions are these!" Shen Ning reached out to Shen Yue's test paper, "Let me take a look at your test paper."
"No, do it yourself." Shen Yue dodged Shen Ning's hand and stepped aside to block her. "I'll explain the problems to you after class if you don't understand them."
"Just let me see it once, just this once. Next time I'll definitely do it myself."
Shen Yue pushed her hand away, "You've said that eight hundred times already. Do it yourself, don't copy."
Anunu watched the two of them struggling, then took Shen Ning's pen and wrote the answers on her test paper.
"Hey, little lamb, you can't write this!"
Shen Ning quickly snatched her pen back from Anunu's hand. Seeing that she was about to cross out the answers she had written on the test paper, Shen Yue glanced at her test paper and then grabbed Shen Ning's hand. "Don't cross them out."
"What's wrong?"
"The answer is correct."
Shen Ning was stunned. "What did you say? The answer is correct?"
Shen Yue looked at the little girl sitting on the stool, swinging her legs. Somewhat disbelieving, he placed Shen Ning's test paper in front of her, pointed to the fill-in-the-blank questions she had answered incorrectly, and asked Anunu, "Can you do these questions?"
Anunu chose two questions with fewer words and filled in the answers.
Shen Ning had been whispering the questions in her ear, and she was able to answer them only after she understood them, as there were still many words she didn't recognize.
As soon as she filled in the answer, Shen Yue glanced at his own choice and found it was the same.
He pointed to the other questions and asked, "Don't you know how to do this one?"
Anunu shook her head. "I don't know him."
Despite the accented pronunciation, the two of them could still understand it.
"Chen Yue, what are you doing? He's so young. Even a child prodigy can't do high school math. He looks like he's still in kindergarten."
Ignoring Shen Ning's words, Shen Yue continued to ask Anunu, "Is it that you don't know how to do it, or that you don't recognize these characters?"
Anunu stuffed a snack into her mouth and mumbled, "I don't know how to read."
After listening, Shen Yue immediately read the question to her and gave her some ideas on how to solve it.
After listening, Anunu thought about it for a few seconds, then picked up a pen and wrote down the answer.
Actually, the words of the answer that appeared in her mind were different from the numbers she recognized now, but she automatically converted them into the numbers she was seeing now.
"Holy crap?"
When Shen Ning heard Shen Yue swear, her eyes widened. This guy usually looked so polite and never seemed to argue, and this was the first time she had ever heard him swear.
Shen Yue was both excited and shocked. He read several more questions to her, and she quickly gave the answers to all of them, including the more difficult ones.
Shen Ning realized what was happening at this point. She took Shen Yue's test paper and compared it with his, and found that the answers were basically the same.
"Holy crap! A child prodigy!"
Shen Ning couldn't help but shout out, and the other classmates all turned to look.
Old Zhou also got up and looked over, "What are you doing? We're having an exam!"
His gaze precisely found the source of the voice, and he walked towards Shen Ning's location. "Shen Ning! Don't you even look at how many points you got this time? You're a science student, and you're always at the bottom of the math class. Why did you choose science? You should transfer to the humanities class as soon as possible!"
"All you do all day is plagiarize Shen Yue's work... huh?"
Before Lao Zhou even got close, he spotted a little kid sandwiched between Shen Ning and Shen Yue.
He walked quickly over, looked closely, and met a pair of big, clear blue eyes.
The little girl was so cute and delicate, like a Barbie doll, that he was stunned for a moment before he came to his senses. "Who gave you permission to bring a child into the classroom!"
After Old Zhou finished yelling, he saw the little girl looking at him and his voice softened, "Who brought you here?"
Shen Ning hugged Anunu and muttered, "Old Zhou, keep your voice down, don't scare the little baby."
Old Zhou glared at her. "Your sister?"
Shen Ning clicked his tongue, "Old Zhou, do you think we're from the same bloodline? I was adopted."
After hearing this, Old Zhou roared again, "You picked her up and didn't hand her over to the police to bring her to the classroom? What if her parents come and accuse you of child trafficking? Do you know that?!"
Shen Ning covered her own ear with one hand and Anunu's ear with the other. "Old Zhou, don't get so excited. This is a little cutie I picked up under the teaching building."
Old Zhou continued to roar, "Why don't you hand it over to the security guard? Why don't you hand it over to the homeroom teacher?"
Shen Ning: "I'm waiting for get out of class to end, don't worry, Lao Zhou. Let me tell you, she's a prodigy. Look, she did all of this."
Shen Ning chuckled and handed the test paper to Lao Zhou. Lao Zhou didn't even look at it and said, "You've got some guts now, making a kindergarten kid do your test paper. Why don't you two switch? She can have class here, and you can go to kindergarten for her."
When Lao Zhou said this, the classmates burst into laughter.
Shen Ning shamelessly replied, "I'd like to, but my parents have to let me go."
Old Zhou snorted, "I'll call your parents right now and tell them you want to go back to kindergarten to start over."
Shen Ning quickly begged for forgiveness, "No, Lao Zhou, I was wrong, I was just joking, please don't call my old man."
Old Zhou noticed that she admitted her mistake much faster than she finished her work, and he glanced at her test paper.
