Chapter 80: Memories (Part Two)
At this time, Al-Alaid was still very young, even somewhat inexperienced. Judging from the arguments among those people, he had just taken over as governor-general and lacked prestige, and was not yet able to properly wield power.
After a long while, she heard Aled's voice with a sigh, "Let her stay. Find a secluded place and send a few of the most powerful fire-breeds to live with her. That way, you can conceal her insectoid aura."
"But Your Majesty, this might expose the secret of the fire!"
"Keep this confidential. It's decided now. No need for further discussion."
The sound faded, and Ivana was plunged into darkness once more.
Time flew by, and she could feel her baby's energy rapidly waning. Countless anxious voices rang in her ears.
"It's no use. Little Queen Worm hasn't fully integrated with the Fire Seed gene yet. Her energy is depleting too quickly. She can't absorb any of the energy sources we have stored."
"Your Majesty, the results of the matching of the Little Queen Insect with the original energy are in. The ore that produces this energy is only found in Divine Revelation. We still need to send her out."
Ivana saw the baby's eggshell close again, but she could still hear sounds from outside.
With the baby's energy depleted, they dispatched an elite force to secretly escort the baby to the planet of revelation.
However, they had only traveled halfway when they encountered an ambush from two other star systems. The sounds of battle were almost deafening. After a flurry of panicked cries from the escort team, the sounds suddenly stopped.
Ivana abruptly pulled herself out of Anno's consciousness. She opened her eyes and saw Lokin gripping her shoulders, calling her name softly incessantly.
Tang Ting gave her an injection, and she recovered.
Logan breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Ivana open her eyes.
Ivana looked at herself. She was still sitting in the chair, but her face was covered in sweat, her heart was beating fast, and she was tense. Her chest was heaving as she breathed heavily.
Lokin gripped her shoulders, asking worriedly, "Ivana, did you see something?"
Eve nodded, then looked at Anno and said slowly, "Sister, the baby..."
"What's wrong with her?"
Eve felt a pang of sorrow in her heart. How could she bring herself to say that more than three hundred years ago, in order to continue the energy of the fire seed, the Northern River system stole her from her clan's home, removed her core, and turned her into someone of another race, from which she could never return to her home and family.
The entire Northern River system owes her, especially the Fire Seed race, whose core is still helping them maintain stable energy.
They're thieves...
Ivana cannot accept that everything she enjoys now was obtained by stepping on a tiny, unhatched baby.
She knew about the alliance war more than three hundred years ago, and she also knew about the collective decline of the Fireseeds. But what was recorded in their history was that a royal offspring happened to appear, but this royal offspring could not be raised and died, leaving only the core.
It now appears that this royal offspring is Zai Zai; she did not die young, but was lost when she was sent to the planet Shenqi.
Eve said in a slightly hoarse voice, "Sister, we owe Zai Zai something that we can never repay in this lifetime."
Lokin was slightly taken aback. "Us?"
“We, the entire North River system, have done something unforgivable.”
Upon hearing her words, Tang Ting's eyes flickered, and he placed his hand on her shoulder and pressed down firmly. "Evna, let's talk about it when we get back."
Lokin stood up, his expression somewhat solemn. Evena's words contained a great deal of information. He knew that this might be a very important secret about the Northern River system, one that the Northern River system dared not reveal.
From the moment she heard Nono's name, she and Tang Ting had already suspected her identity. Now, Eve's words were leading them closer to a truth they didn't want to see.
She watched as Eve touched Nono's light band again, and then grabbed her hand.
After staring at each other for a while, Locke released her hand.
Eve wants to know the whole truth about Nono's past, and so do they.
When Evena re-entered Anno's memories, she found herself in a world of ice and snow.
In a cave, she saw the little cubs.
She was only two or three years old at the time, even younger than she is now. She was wrapped in a dirty and tattered blanket, and her little face was covered in dust.
It was still snowing heavily outside, and the wind and snow kept pouring in through the cave entrance. Her small body was wrapped in a blanket and shivering.
At this moment, Anno is still Anunu. She knows who she is, her identity, her race, and her name.
When Zerg larvae hatch, they possess a brief period of inherited memories, a protective mechanism that helps them better locate their swarm.
But now, this memory is cruel to Anno.
Her name is Anunu Seville. Her father is Augsis and her mother is the Zerg Queen Seville. She has memories left to her by her mother. They were so eager for her to hatch, and she can almost hear her mother's gentle voice.
But after she hatched, she didn't see her father, mother, or any of her kind.
Every day she searched for her way home. She was terrified and cried as she called out to her kind in the wilderness, constantly sending out weak signals in the insectoid language, hoping for a response.
But all that answered her was the howling wind. In the days immediately after she hatched, she cried constantly, saying to herself as she cried, "Anunu, you are a queen insect, how can you be so timid?"
The Zerg larva's defense mechanism gives her a robust body after hatching, but as she doesn't get enough nutrition, the defense mechanism gradually dissipates and can no longer protect her.
She was exhausted and hungry, but in the vast wilderness, there was only grass to eat, and if she was lucky, she could find some small insects to eat.
The Zerg larvae's protective mechanisms helped her ward off the beasts around her, but the mechanisms were about to wear off, and she could already see many huge beasts following her from a distance, their mouths constantly drooling.
One snowy night, she fainted from hunger in the snow.
When she woke up again, a big gray wolf was lying next to her. It was a mother wolf who had failed to raise her cubs, so she took her in and raised her as a wolf pup.
Today, the mother wolf went out hunting, and Anunu stayed alone in the cave waiting for her to return.
Ivana looked at the little baby curled up in a ball and wanted to go over and hold her in her arms to warm her, but this was just her memory, and she couldn't touch her at all.
As darkness fell, Evena saw a huge gray wolf carrying prey into the cave. The wolf was covered in wounds and limped toward the cub, placing the prey in front of her.
