Chapter Eighteen: Slaying
A figure dressed in black combat gear landed steadily in front of Anno.
Anno stared blankly at the woman in front of him. She was tall and slender, with long golden hair tied into a high ponytail that hung down her back, revealing a cold and beautiful face.
As soon as the woman landed, two more people jumped off the shuttle and landed behind her. Despite the height, they landed smoothly and lightly. Anno felt a very strong energy from them, especially from the woman in front of her.
She was on a completely different level from the people around her, and her energy was significantly higher than Hicks'.
Lokin looked at the little cub covered in blood in front of her. Her eyes narrowed, a storm gathering in them. She held her long sword horizontally, turned around and looked at the group of beasts in front of her. Her voice was devoid of any warmth, "Clean them all up. Leave no one alive except the leader."
"Yes!" Her two subordinates immediately ran towards the Blackthorn men.
Anno observed that the two were covered in a layer of close-fitting armor that looked like some kind of metal, and the long, sharp blades in their hands extended from the armor, appearing extremely sharp and gleaming with a faint blue light.
They were incredibly agile and nimble, weaving and leaping among the enormous beasts, their blades flashing and swiftly slaying them.
Meanwhile, Hicks, who had lured Lu Sien and the others away, finally breathed a sigh of relief when he saw a green light on his personal terminal. This green light meant that the mother had arrived and the cub was safe.
He stopped running. Lu Sien was now close enough that Lu Sien could smell him and knew he was being led astray. He could escape now, but that wouldn't clear him of suspicion as an undercover agent. He had been an undercover agent on Casa Star for so long with the goal of destroying these gangs one by one. He longed to go back with the little cub, but there was still a chance to preserve his undercover identity, so he had no choice but to stay here for the time being.
Hicks's mind raced, and he changed direction, running towards the cubs while sending a coded signal to his mother.
Isaac looked at the three people who had suddenly appeared, his smile vanished, and his expression became much more serious than before.
They were clearly military personnel, and their strength made him wary, especially the woman, who exuded an even stronger sense of pressure than their Black Thorn leader.
Seeing his men being easily slaughtered by the two like slicing vegetables, he no longer hesitated. He gripped his long sword and charged towards the Fire Seed Cub, simultaneously activating his superpower. Instantly, a whirlwind arose around him, blowing Mike and the others to the ground and preventing them from getting close.
Isaac is a variant, and his level is not high, currently barely reaching C-rank. However, this blizzard weather is very conducive to the use of his wind-type abilities.
After suppressing the others, he rushed towards the cub. Just as he was about to reach the cub, a figure flashed in front of him, a sharp blade flashing with golden deadly light, slashing diagonally from his abdomen to his shoulder. Sparks flew from his nanotech armor, barely saving his life.
Isaac's heart pounded. He raised his knife to block, but it was instantly broken in two by Lokin. Lokin twirled the knife in Isaac's hand and slashed horizontally toward his throat. Isaac tried to back away, but Lokin grabbed his shoulder and held the long knife to his throat.
Lokin coldly watched him, grabbed his shoulder, and kicked him hard in the stomach with her knee, slamming him to the ground. A blue light flashed on her wrist, and a layer of golden metal covered her hand. She grabbed Isaac's nanotech armor, and a crisp sound rang out. His expensive nanotech armor was shattered by the energy emanating from the blue light.
As soon as the nanomachine shattered, Lokin's knife pierced his shoulder blade. She drew a soft whip crackling with electricity from her waist, lashed it at him, and the whip bound Isaac completely.
The whole process took less than ten seconds. After Lokin dealt with the small leader, her two subordinates had just finished killing the Blackthorn members.
Luo Jin flicked his long sword and tucked it back into his waistband.
She said to her two subordinates, "Take this person up to the shuttle and keep an eye on him. Wu Sui can stay behind."
Another subordinate nodded in agreement and led Isaac onto the shuttle.
In order to save time, Lokin and his two subordinates came over in a warp shuttle. This kind of small warp shuttle can make short-distance warps, but it can only carry two people. She also needs to wait here for their ship to come and pick her up.
Lokin quickly walked to the Fire Seed cub and squatted down. His cold expression softened instantly when he saw Anno.
Having lived in the apocalypse for so many years, Anno had seen many powerful people, but the woman in front of her was still so strong that she was shocked.
Each attack, with its clean and swift movements, amazed her.
Lokin sensed Anno's energy becoming somewhat chaotic and wanted to reach out to touch her. Anno instinctively dodged back, and Lokin's hand paused for a moment before carefully placing it on her shoulder. "Little one, you're safe now, don't be afraid."
Anno felt her energy enveloping her, radiating a reassuring aura and warmth that gave her an unprecedented sense of security. The way she looked at Lokin was different now.
Lokin looked at the light behind her ear, which had become very dim and was drooping weakly on her shoulder, a sign of excessive energy consumption.
Lokin said softly, "I am Hicks' mother, and I will protect my baby. Baby, you can take back the energy now."
Seeing such a small cub possess such powerful energy, Lokin was both astonished and worried for her.
She released too much energy, and if she doesn't stop, the exhaustion of her energy will cause great harm to her body.
Anno remained tense. Her eyes swept over Apa and the others. Apa and Mike were standing in front of her. Although they were covered in blood, they looked to be in good condition. Tuka's wounds had mostly healed, and he sat in front of her wagging his tail.
The other beast cubs also surrounded her. Those who attacked them were all dead, and their blood stained the surrounding snow red.
She slowly breathed a sigh of relief and her body slumped forward.
Her light band flickered, leaving the last bit of energy within her body.
Luo Jin caught her, held her in his arms, and gently comforted her, "Sweetheart, it's alright, it's alright."
She gently patted Anno as she removed the protective field around her.
Anno had exhausted too much energy, her head was a little dizzy, and her vision was blurry, but when she heard Luo Jin's pleasant and magnetic voice and felt the warmth emanating from him, she felt a sense of peace in her heart.
How long has it been since she felt this incredibly reassuring?
Seeing that the Fire Seed cub's face was pale and its condition was not good, Luo Jin opened the communication on his personal computer: "Medical team, get ready. The Fire Seed's energy is weak and we need a new culture dish."
After hanging up the call, Lockin asked Apa, "Where is your backup base?"
Apa immediately lay down in front of her, and Lokin jumped onto his back with Anno in his arms. Apa then led them quickly toward the backup base.
