Chapter 242: The Little Male Insect King
Following the strange energy that drew her in, Anno continued to advance into the darkness.
Apart from her, there were no other luminous objects in this dark space.
But she felt no unease whatsoever; a strange sense of anticipation kept guiding her, making it impossible for her to stop moving forward.
The bottom of the abyss is not flat, but rather stepped. Because there are no fixed luminous objects in the abyss, it is impossible to know how big the internal space of the abyss is.
The abyss contains the most concentrated energy on the planet, and its interior is not a single, easily explored area. It also has a magnetic field similar to a portal, through which one will reach another place within the abyss.
But as long as one wants to get out, the energy in the abyss will guide the creature that has entered out.
Therefore, the Zerg creatures are not afraid of the darkness of the Abyss. The Abyss is more like a sacred place to them. Even the Zerg who have lived and passed down their lineage for generations cannot fully explore the true mysteries of the Abyss.
As Anno followed the energy deeper and deeper into the abyss, glowing creatures would occasionally appear before her eyes, just as she would encounter strange creatures rarely seen in the deep sea.
She would occasionally stop to play with the creatures before continuing onward.
After flying down in the darkness for about an hour, she entered a space completely different from the rest of the abyss.
She landed on a floating stone platform.
Before her were many floating stones, some of which had glowing crystals on them; they were all energy ores.
Many other luminous creatures roamed this space, illuminating the darkness surrounding Anno.
She looked around and noticed some man-made objects on some of the floating rocks.
The stone lamps are antique and exquisitely designed, and the minerals inside are still lit. There are also stone tables, stone chairs, and railings.
They are all Zerg-style, but they don't conform to the current Zerg design style.
Unlike other races in the universe, the Zerg are not as diverse, and a single architectural style can be passed down for a long time.
Today, the Zerg still live in palaces, not skyscrapers, just like in the past. Some Zerg branches still retain some primitive habits, living in mines and placing simple furniture and daily necessities there.
Anno carefully reviewed the inherited knowledge in his mind; this style of architecture was at least tens of thousands of years old.
None of the other Zerg, including the mother and father, had ever seen the Abyss, let alone such a place.
These stones vary in size and are irregular in shape. Some of the minerals on them show signs of human intervention, while others are naturally grown. They float randomly in this dark space, carrying an ancient aura.
Time seemed to stand still in this space.
While searching through the inherited memories in the consciousness network, Anno discovered that she had lost connection with it...
No.......
It wasn't that the connection was lost, but rather that her consciousness had reconnected with another consciousness.
This awareness was so strong that it almost completely consumed her connection with others.
However, this consciousness was too calm, without any fluctuations, as if it had fallen into some kind of slumber.
Now, the energy and consciousness that guides her is in this space.
Anno stood still and looked around, beginning to search for the source of this energy and consciousness.
She moved from one platform to another, examining the ores on them, trying to verify the source of the energy.
After searching for a while, I found that it wasn't the one.
The energy of these ores is incomparable to the strange energy that permeates this space.
Where exactly does this energy come from?
This space was so vast that even the transparent, luminous creatures that looked like deep-sea fish in the distance appeared as tiny specks in Anno's eyes.
Suddenly, a swarm of golden jellyfish flew toward her.
The golden sand jellyfish flew in front of her, arched its body around her, and carried her in a certain direction ahead.
Anno felt something and let them lead him.
She lay on the body of the largest golden jellyfish and looked ahead. An oval platform came into view, surrounded by a ring of crystal minerals. In the center of the platform, an egg emitting a pure white fluorescence floated.
She stared in surprise; it was an insect egg!
As she got closer, she realized the egg was incredibly large, almost as tall as her.
She jumped off the golden jellyfish and landed on the platform, staring in astonishment at the enormous insect egg in front of her.
She compared the size of the insect eggs to her own; the eggs were even taller than her, and she couldn't hug them with her arms outstretched.
The strange energy that drew her here emanated from this insect egg.
She placed her hand on the insect egg, feeling the consciousness emanating from it.
She had never seen such a big egg before. The largest insect eggs never exceeded one meter in height. The insect eggs she had before she was born were just big enough to hold in both hands. Compared to this giant egg in front of her, they were simply incomparable.
She looked at the insect egg in front of her with great curiosity. How could there be such a big insect egg here?
In her inherited memories, there was no record of such a large insect egg.
She wanted to ask her father, Augustus, but her consciousness was currently unable to connect to the consciousness network, so she had to give up.
She picked up a spherical glowing mineral that was used for lighting and wanted to see which branch of the insect larvae was inside the egg.
Some insect eggs allow you to see the larvae inside when you look at them in the light, especially white eggshells like these.
Most Zerg eggs have a layer of mineral-like substance on their surface, making them incredibly hard and unbreakable no matter how much they are dropped. Pure white, smooth eggs like these are relatively rare and are usually found among the Glowing Clan, whose eggshells are also pure white.
But why are there no worm marks? Pure white eggs usually have worm marks.
She thought for a moment, and realized that besides the Firefly's egg, there was another kind of egg that, regardless of which insect branch it contained, always had a pure white shell.
These are the eggs of the male king insect.
The pure white eggshell only develops its markings after merging with the energy and consciousness of the Queen Insect.
Anno paused for a moment upon realizing this.
Only then did she belatedly realize that the egg's energy was highly compatible with hers, and that the consciousness emanating from the egg had merged with her own, without her feeling any rejection.
Even her father's and mother's consciousness could not have merged with her so completely.
Anno held the luminous orb close to the insect egg. Under the strong light, the inside of the insect egg became translucent, revealing a trace of red light.
She placed one hand on the insect egg, pressed her forehead against the shell, and looked inside.
After looking for a while, she still couldn't figure it out. Just as she was about to look at it from another spot, the shadow of a hand came through the eggshell. She was concentrating on her work, and this sudden movement startled her. She took a step back, and the ball of light in her hand rolled to the ground.
Without the illumination of the light sphere, the insect eggs in front of me returned to their original state, and it was impossible to see what was inside.
Anno composed herself and was about to pick up the orb of light to examine it again when, without her noticing, the orb had flown right in front of her.
She looked at the insect egg suspiciously, then took the ball of light into her hand.
She placed the ball of light in front of the insect egg again, and as soon as the ball shone on it, a figure appeared inside the egg.
It was a human figure, but it was impossible to tell which branch of the insect it belonged to.
And this cub is way too big! It looks almost as tall as her.
At this moment, the previously calm consciousness began to fluctuate, expressing a strong... desire to get close.
Anno paused, then placed his hand on the insect egg, pressing it against the figure's palm.
When she placed her palm against it, she realized that the figure's palm was larger than hers, and its fingers were longer.
The figure and fingers moved, as if trying to touch Anno's hand.
After realizing he couldn't reach it, he slapped the eggshell hard, and the eggshell immediately cracked.
Anno heard a crisp cracking sound, and the crack grew larger and larger until the eggshell split open from the middle, shattering into pieces on the ground.
Inside the eggshell, a human figure floated off the ground.
Anno's eyes widened slightly. In front of her was a naked boy with extremely long black hair. He was floating off the ground and his hair was already hanging down to the ground.
Upon closer inspection, she noticed that his long hair wasn't black, but a deep blue, almost as dark as black.
The boy's head was slightly lowered, his eyes were still closed, and his left hand remained raised.
Anno was completely enveloped in his energy field, and the energy-filled bands on his body and the insect patterns on his body emitted a strong light.
She looked at the boy in front of her with curiosity.
Why is her male insect king so big?
Shouldn't it be a tiny little insect baby?
She saw that his eyes were closed, and his long eyelashes cast a shadow on his cheek.
With red lips, delicate and youthful features, and perfectly proportioned features, she looked somewhat androgynous.
Judging from her appearance, she looks only fourteen or fifteen years old.
Anno couldn't help but smile; the little male insect king looked like a girl.
Her gaze fell on his raised hand. Seeing his hand, she couldn't help but sigh inwardly. His hand was so beautiful, like it was carved from jade, white and slender, with rounded fingertips.
Seeing that he had his eyes closed and was still fast asleep, she didn't know how to wake him.
She is currently unable to communicate with her father through the consciousness network, and she doesn't know what to do after the male insect king is born.
