Chapter Sixty-Six: Emotions

Chapter Sixty-Six: Emotions

"Yes, Your Majesty. It has been confirmed that we will return tomorrow. Well, the baby is currently in good health, but his energy is still a little unstable. Please rest assured, we will take good care of the baby."

On the balcony, Logan was communicating with Chief Consul Allard, giving instructions regarding Anno.

They have been on Canghai Star for a week now. The Canghai Star legion has been searching for several days and has captured many rebels hiding on Canghai Star.

It can only be said that the cleanup was relatively thorough. After all, no matter how much these villainous organizations are eliminated, they will continue to emerge. The only thing they can do is strengthen their defenses.

Anno is not suited to stay on Canghai Star for long, and her body also needs further treatment. The main star has better medical conditions, so she is only making do here temporarily.

After hanging up with Aled, Lockin dialed Evena's number.

"Ivana, what's going on with the baby's name? Didn't we say we'd only register Sevier?"

After a moment of silence on the other end of the communication, Evena said, "Sister, this is His Majesty's will. Before we completed the baby's file for the final review, His Majesty requested to review it and asked us to register the baby's full name."

At this point, Ivana's eyes were full of confusion. "Sister, Nono is indeed a special kind of spark, but I always feel that something is not quite right. His Majesty's attitude towards her, Nono's birthplace, and her name don't seem to be something His Majesty would have chosen. She..."

Ivana paused, then asked, "Sisters, do you know something?"

Eve was intelligent and perceptive, and she noticed many puzzling things about Nono's situation.

Luo Jin leaned against the balcony, looking into the room. Tang Ting had just come out of the bathroom carrying Anuo, who had finished washing up, and placed her on a chair at the dining table.

"We don't know more than you do. There are many things about Nono that we also find puzzling. We need to take her back and investigate her further."

Eve didn't ask any more questions. Now she could only wait for Logan and the others to return with the cubs before she could answer their questions.

After Luo Jingang and Evena hung up the phone, they heard a crisp sound coming from the other end.

She looked over and saw Anuo push something off the table, and Tang Ting squatted on the ground tidying it up.

She sensed something was wrong and hurried into the room, heading towards Anno.

What happened?

Seeing the food spilled all over the ground, Luo Jin asked Tang Ting in surprise.

Tang Ting cleaned up the spilled baby food before letting the robot vacuum clean up the remaining stains.

He said to Luo Jin, "I added some of my newly prepared nutritional solution to the baby's diet today, but she doesn't like the taste."

Lokin looked at the bowl in his hand, then followed his gaze to Anno, who was sitting in the chair.

She sat upright in the chair, having barely drunk a few sips from the baby bottle in front of her before setting it aside, and pushed another bowl of food far away as well.

The light band behind her ears fluttered, its color tinged with red.

Based on Locke's understanding of the fire, he could tell from the band of light that she was angry.

She hasn't shown any abnormal physical condition in the past two days, and she sleeps well at night. Is she feeling unwell again?

Anuo had never been angry in front of them and had always been very well-behaved and sensible. Seeing her looking somewhat sullen now, they were a little surprised.

My baby is throwing a tantrum, that's rare!

Luo Jin quickly snapped a picture of her back as she sat ramrod straight with anger using his personal terminal, then sat down beside her and pulled her onto his lap. "Baby, do you not like this smell?"

Anno pursed her lips and didn't speak. She didn't like the taste; it was very similar to a kind of medicine that people used to feed her.

They conducted various tests and experiments on her, and after injuring her, they used medicine to help her recover.

After various medications had adverse effects, they finally selected a few that were effective for her. They experimented on her repeatedly and then used medications to restore her health.

She had just smelled this scent and instinctively flung the bowl away. The scent was only slightly similar, but that slight resemblance reignited her defenses, which she had gradually lowered over time.

This was a completely subconscious action of hers. She didn't want to do it, but how could she explain her scarred past to her parents?

Faced with Lokin's concern and inquiries, she was unable to express the deepest pain in her heart.

She lowered her head, and even the light behind her ears stopped shimmering. Her anger had dissipated, leaving only the regret that followed her anger.

She regretted that she had gone too far, spilling food on the floor.

She had never been anyone's daughter, grew up without parents, and struggled to survive in the apocalypse on her own. She didn't know how children who had parents got along with them.

Now that she has parents and their love, she feels anxious and is always careful not to lose them or cause them trouble.

She only knows how to treat people who are unkind to her, but doesn't know how to properly treat people who are kind to her.

So she usually goes along with their arrangements for her, what to eat, what to wear, what to do and what not to do, without thinking about whether she likes it or not.

In Logan and Tang Ting's eyes, she was obedient and quiet.

But she's not like that; she has her own temper, and it's quite strong.

All her past madness, willfulness, temper tantrums, and even killings were directed at those who hurt her, not at those who were good to her.

No matter how much hurt or injustice she encounters, she will keep a clear distinction in her mind.

But no matter how clearly she distinguishes herself, how many people did she meet who were kind to her in the years before her rebirth?

She had always had this kind of personality. Even though she had toned it down, now that she encountered something that could trigger those bad memories, she felt like she was back in the medical room that day. Her whole being was like a string suddenly being stretched taut, as if someone was choking her, and her most vulnerable parts were being exposed.

No matter how hard she tries to control these feelings, she still experiences a stress response.

Seeing Anuo hanging her head and not speaking, Luo Jin whispered comforting words in her ear, "It's all Daddy's fault for making things that Nuonuo doesn't like to eat. In the future, baby can tell Daddy and Mommy what she doesn't like."

Tang Ting placed a freshly prepared portion of baby food in front of Anuo, and also prepared a fresh batch of milk for her. Then, he sat down next to her and gently coaxed her, "Baby, don't be angry anymore. It's all Daddy's fault. Daddy will never put this flavored nutritional supplement in the future, okay?"

As Anuo listened to her parents constantly coaxing her, she felt even more annoyed.

She looked up at Tang Ting, "It's not Dad's fault."

Her father knew nothing, and it wasn't his fault. It was just that her wounds needed a long time to heal, and she couldn't control them.
