Chapter 157: Hidden
As Caesar gazed at the breathtakingly beautiful face before him, his breathing slowed involuntarily. This was the first time he had been so close to her while she was awake.
The light from the outdoor lights shone through the glass, casting a golden glow on her cheeks, and he could even see the fine downy hairs on her face.
Her long eyelashes had slightly curved tips, with the longest lashes at the outer corners of her eyes, extending diagonally and creating the illusion that her eyes were upturned. In reality, her eyes were rather round, and the slightly elongated outer corners and slender eyelashes added a touch of alluring beauty to her clear eyes.
Stared at so directly by her, Caesar dared not look directly at her, as if if he looked any longer, he would no longer be able to conceal his excitement.
He can't do that. He can't reveal his true nature. He should be obedient and respectful in front of His Highness.
He lowered his eyes, slowed his breathing, and almost held it.
But as soon as he stopped breathing, he could clearly feel Anuo's breath rushing onto his face. Her breathing rate, her heartbeat, and her delicate fragrance were all magnified countless times at that moment.
Reason told him that he should step back immediately; that would be wrong and disrespectful to His Highness.
But another thought told him he should get closer, just a little closer...
Anno looked at Caesar, who was hanging his head, not daring to look at her. She picked up a strand of his cascading silver hair and whispered, "You just said you didn't mean it, Caesar, you really like lying to me..."
Caesar's heart skipped a beat. He suppressed the corners of his mouth that he couldn't help but smile, frowned slightly, and looked up at Anno with a hint of fear in his expression: "Your Highness, I can't help wanting to get close to you. I can't control myself."
He stepped back, and the strand of silver hair immediately slipped from Anuo's fingertips. "Your Highness, I know I was wrong. I will do my best to control myself in the future."
His tone was one of fear and trepidation, as if he truly knew he had done something wrong.
Anno didn't pursue the topic any further. She was Caesar's queen, and there was nothing she didn't know about him. Because of the uniqueness of his abilities, he could indeed hide some of his emotions, and even some of his consciousness.
Other Zerg might not be able to sense it, but they couldn't hide it from her. His ability to conceal himself was like a locked door to other Zerg, but to her, she could simply reach out and pull it open.
But she never bothered to look into this hidden part of him.
Cyrus stood outside the door, tilting his head slightly to look at the two people inside the room. From his perspective, Caesar's bent-over posture completely obscured Anno's figure, leaving only her long hair hanging to the ground and her slightly bent legs visible.
As he approached Anno, Caesar's emotions were undeniably high within his consciousness; perhaps, he never intended to conceal them at all.
Mingxiao leaned against the wall by the door, her lips pouting so high they seemed to reach the sky.
Fingers tapped rapidly on the computer screen, which displayed a rapidly scrolling display of various data.
Tanville watched the scene inside with a flickering gaze, a slight smile playing on his lips, but his eyes couldn't see into the bottomless, dark pool.
After a crisp "beep" sounded, Mingxiao's computer displayed that the system had completed processing. He straightened up abruptly, turned around, and walked into the room.
"Your Highness, the shielding equipment has been turned off, and we have made contact with the frontline headquarters."
Tanville didn't stop Mingxiao this time. Sensing Caesar's obvious displeasure, his smile deepened slightly.
Upon hearing Mingxiao's words, Anuo sat up from the recliner, and Caesar immediately picked up her shoes and helped her put them on, carefully tying the shoelaces and buttons for her.
Mingxiao quickly grabbed the other shoe and put it on Anuo. He was feeling happy when he glanced at Caesar, who was squatting next to him. Caesar was smiling, but his eyes were like sharp blades, making Mingxiao's scalp tingle.
Mingxiao's hand trembled slightly, and one of the buttons was fastened incorrectly.
"Look at you, how come you can't even put on His Highness's shoes?"
Caesar brushed Mingxiao's hand away, refastened Anno's shoe buckle, and finished the remaining steps.
Upon hearing Caesar's words, Mingxiao's face immediately flushed red. She looked up at Anuo, "Your...Your Highness..."
Anuo looked at Mingxiao, her eyes glistening with tears, her delicate face flushed with embarrassment, and her tone softened unconsciously, "It's alright, you don't need to do these things."
Caesar: "This is what we should do."
Anuo stood up and patted Mingxiao on the head. "Get up quickly."
Mingxiao watched Anuo walk out the door, stood up and followed, and kept shouting in her heart, "Your Highness is so gentle!"
Anno stopped at the door and looked at Luo Su, who was still asleep.
She was sleeping soundly; the battle of the day seemed to have exhausted her. Thinking of how energetic she had been before going to sleep, talking nonstop, she couldn't help but smile.
When Cyrus saw Anno come out of the room, he asked her, "Your Highness, do we need to go to the front-line headquarters? The Queen is calling for you."
When Mingxiao came to find her, Anuo had already sensed her mother's voice in the consciousness network. She told her that she was safe and sound and did not plan to return to the base now.
The entire Interstellar Alliance is currently at war, and the Zerg have almost all come out in force.
In the past, the Zerg have generally not participated much in interstellar wars, unless they are affected by the conflict, in which case they will join in the fighting. The Zerg are the kind of people who will not attack unless provoked.
But this time was different. Although Seville and the others held various meetings offline, the Zerg's consciousness was nowhere to hide in the consciousness network. Anno knew the purpose of this Zerg war from their consciousness exchanges.
It's not just about attacking Beihe; it's about overthrowing the entire Interstellar Alliance and reshuffling everything.
She had no reason to hide behind them, nor did she want to.
She had always longed for a peaceful life, but now that she understood her true identity, that peace and tranquility seemed incredibly illusory to her.
Her Zerg genes instilled in her a deep-seated love of battle, and her past memories deeply affected her, allowing her to vent all her negative emotions through combat.
Moreover, she has very important things to do, and she still has unresolved issues in her heart; she cannot allow herself to stop.
After Sevier made contact with Anno through the consciousness network, she breathed a heavy sigh of relief.
Cangmiao lent her his lord, Hibia, who could open a spatial portal for her at any time.
Upon learning that Anunu was on an asteroid in Northern River, she immediately wanted to go find her, but Anunu told her to stay at the front-line base and not to wander around.
"Mother, you are the king of the Zerg, you must ensure your safety."
The war has only just begun. Although the Zerg are powerful, their weaknesses are also very obvious, namely the two Zerg kings and her, their heir.
Without these three, the Zerg would suffer a devastating blow, and the Zerg would rapidly weaken.
Although if the king were to fall, a new king would be born, the new king would be too young to support the entire Zerg race.
In war, the enemy will certainly press their advantage and the Zerg will be in a very dangerous situation.
As the future king of the Zerg, Anno was naturally well aware of these matters.
Although she said that, Séville wouldn't listen to her. She had already lost her once and needed her by her side to feel at ease.
As Anno stood atop the base's defensive wall, discussing with Caesar and the others their journey to the next frontline asteroid, the roar of fighter jets filled the sky.
Immediately following were the flashes of falling shells and deafening explosions, with debris and rubble flying towards them.
Secris immediately used his ability, freezing all the flying debris in front of them. An invisible wall also enveloped them, blocking the cannon fire. This was the defensive ability of Poponia, one of Anno's Familia.
Caesar said coldly, "It's Casa's fighter jet."
The Casa system is one of the allies of the Northern River.
Anno looked up at the densely packed fighter jets and spaceships; there were quite a few of them, so it seemed they wanted to retake the base.
There weren't many Zerg and Sky Cloud soldiers on this asteroid, so Beihe called for reinforcements. Most importantly, there was also a small King Zerg here. The quickest and most effective way to deal with the Zerg was to capture the King.
Although the Zerg's abilities are greatly enhanced when the King is present on the battlefield, it is worth the risk.
