Chapter 387: It Was You All Along
The valley returned to silence.
Anno watched as the players captured by the monsters cursed and swore, using large brushes to bathe the monsters by the river. Some players angrily attacked them, but the monsters, with their thick skin, didn't even flinch.
Seeing the players so angry yet unwilling to log off, I couldn't help but laugh.
She felt that she might be more suited to the monster faction.
When she played this game and saw scenes similar to those in the past, she didn't feel a sense of belonging to the human side.
In those years, she witnessed humans killing each other; half of her suffering came from humanity.
Facing the same scene from the past, she didn't feel anything special. The wounds of the past had been healed, and all that remained were a few sighs.
So, should we kill the dragon?
According to Sister Nai, she's the only one here who can kill the dragon.
She opened her panel to check; the gun was out of bullets, but there was still a knife inside.
Anno thought to himself, "This is just a game. As long as I kill the dragon and complete the mission, that's all that matters."
Suddenly, she saw the dragon staring intently at her. He moved closer to her and used his tail to encircle her within his body.
The dragon guarded its most precious treasure, a look of satisfaction on its face.
Anno looked at him for a while and said to him, "Longlong, turn into a human."
As soon as she finished speaking, the dragon transformed back into human form right in front of her.
His tall figure stood before her, completely enveloping her in his aura, and he reached out his hand to her.
Anno stared at his hand for a while, then asked, "What race are you?"
Da Long opened his mouth, about to say something, when he suddenly turned around, reached out and grabbed, then opened his palm.
A bullet lay in his palm.
Anno heard several muffled gunshots ring out in succession, and all the bullets stopped in front of Da Long.
These physical attacks are clearly ineffective against a dragon that possesses magical abilities.
The captured players have been magically restricted from attacking, so it seems someone infiltrated the area.
Sitar and the others were still outside, blocked by those magical shields, and they had no way to get through for the time being.
She watched as Da Long reached out and grabbed again, revealing a magic mark in his hand. Immediately, a magic circle appeared in front of them, and several people tumbled out of the magic circle.
"Holy crap, I almost fell and died!"
Several people were groaning in pain as they fell to the ground, but a tall figure in a black combat suit quickly jumped up from the ground, his long sword flashing coldly, and charged at Da Long.
The knife was so fast that Anno didn't even see who it was. Although Da Long dodged the attack by tilting his head, he was still cut on the arm.
The tall figure launched a fierce and swift attack on the dragon. After seeing the figure's face clearly, Anuo exclaimed in surprise, "Second Sister?"
Karina delivered a side kick to the dragon, then nimbly flipped over and appeared in front of Anno.
She twirled the long sword in her hand, not even glancing at the dragon behind her, and reached out to hug Anno tightly.
"So you were here." Karina whispered in Anno's ear as she hugged her.
Anno looked at Da Long, whose face was cold and who was about to step forward, and subconsciously shouted at him, "Don't move, stand still!"
Da Long stood still.
Anno hugged Karina back; she hadn't seen her second sister in a long time.
"Have you missed me?" Karina asked, her voice slightly hoarse, placing her hand on the back of Karina's head.
"I did."
Karina smiled. "That's good."
For the past few years, she has been studying at the Gemini Military Academy, focusing all her energy on training. Following Anno's advice, she is looking for what she wants and her future goals.
But even after all this time, her original thoughts haven't wavered much.
She was still thinking about the girl standing in the soft sunlight in her mind.
She longed to tell Xiaoqi to return to her side, to transform her, and to make her her companion.
But Xiaoqi has no shortage of family members, and she wants her to live freely.
"Good heavens, what's going on? We haven't even killed the dragon yet, how come the captain is already hugging the princess?"
Karina's teammates were dumbfounded.
They had been classmates with Karina for several years, and this was the first time they had ever seen her hug someone and show such a rich range of expressions.
"Do you want to complete the mission?" Anno asked Karina.
Karina: "Yeah, our academy has missions, and we use this game for training occasionally."
Anno nodded: "Okay, I understand."
After saying that, she took out the knife from her system inventory and looked at the dragon that was standing there motionless.
"Your Highness, we've come to save you!"
Just as Anno was about to make a move, Mingxiao and the others suddenly appeared out of nowhere. Mingxiao threw out some kind of item, which restrained all the monsters around them and trapped the dragon and the others in a magic circle.
She saw the dragon raise its hand and glance at its own; the magical light flickered and then went out.
Seeing that Da Long couldn't use his magic skills, Ming Xiao and the others took their long swords and flew towards Da Long to slash.
Karina pulled Anno back, leaving their circle.
Anno watched as Dalong confronted Mingxiao and the others alone, and the way Dalong and his followers fought became increasingly familiar to her.
"Huh?" Mingxiao also let out a puzzled sound, "Why do I feel like this BOSS's fighting techniques are so..."
Like the Vanguard?
