Chapter 315: An Exceptional Like
"Sitael?"
Anno was so close he was practically touching Sital's face.
She asked Sitar if he was jealous, but Sitar didn't say anything and just looked at her.
At this moment, both of them voluntarily closed their consciousness networks. Anno wanted to hear Sitar speak to her.
Sital's jealousy is something she finds very interesting.
She always felt that the male insect king wouldn't feel jealousy. The male insect king was an overlord insect of the same rank as the insect queen, possessing the highest rank and rights among the insect race. They wouldn't be jealous of their subordinates; they would only discipline them.
Her father, Augustus, directly disciplined his family members—literally.
Augsis's temper was far more volatile than Sitar's.
Sevier never protected her followers, because she, like every Zerg Queen, had a clear hierarchy between the male Zerg King and his followers, and knew the difference between them. Moreover, the more a leader protected a follower, the more angry the male Zerg King would become.
The male Zerg king is even less likely to feel jealous of outsiders; no Zerg queen has ever fallen in love with an outsider.
The Zerg's social structure and upbringing make them completely different from other races; even though they are both highly intelligent races, they cannot connect emotionally.
Anno was the only exception.
She is also the only Queen in the Zerg's existing history to have her core stolen by an outsider.
This special circumstance made her an exception.
Some of her personality traits and behaviors cannot be compared to those of previous queen insects.
Her queen insect is somewhat different, so the servants and male insect kings who depend on her for life and exist for her are naturally different from the servants around the insect queens of the past.
However, they are unable to immediately comprehend or understand this emotion.
Sital is very smart and learns quickly, but even the smartest person is still influenced by their genes in some ways.
He had only been born from the insect egg for a short time when he knew that Anno treated Caesar differently from other members of her family. She was not only kind to him, but she also liked him more than the other members. This special affection made Caesar completely different from the other members of her family.
Even so, Sitar would not say that he was jealous or envious of Caesar.
Caesar is Anunu's servant, and also Anunu's servant. He is a being inferior to Anunu, and no matter how much Anunu likes him, he can never surpass Anunu. This is determined by the Zerg's genes.
Therefore, he didn't think he would be jealous, especially since he was a foreigner.
However, this disbelief is based on the fact that Anunu is also influenced by genes.
Anunu's growth will not deviate from the genetically predetermined path, but her past experiences have profoundly influenced her and cannot be corrected overnight.
The Zerg have fought countless wars in the past, including some larger than those of three hundred years ago and the recent interstellar wars. There have even been wars that nearly destroyed the Zerg. But never before has an Overlord still in its egg been stolen and used in this way.
Anunu and Sevier's generation needs change. This change is not a post-war adjustment, but a transformation that changes the social structure of the Zerg.
Anunu will show goodwill towards outsiders, which is a signal of friendliness that the Zerg have never shown before.
Every Zerg that influences an era is the Overlord, because only the Overlord can affect the entire Zerg population.
Her difference, her difference from other races, is something all the Zerg kin can sense and it influences their thinking, but it only confuses and bewilders them, and cannot change what was inherited in their genes from the previous generation.
On stage, Qingfu continued with the next song, while Sitar's face flickered in and out of focus under the stage lights.
When Anno saw that Sitar didn't answer her, she pouted and was about to straighten up when Sitar suddenly reached out and placed his hand on the back of her neck.
His large hands enveloped her slender neck, and with just a little force, he pulled Anora toward him.
The stage and venue lights suddenly went out, plunging them into darkness.
The sudden darkness caught Anno off guard, and he couldn't make out Sitar's face.
She felt Sitar's warm breath, and his heartbeat was crystal clear in her ears.
She wanted to say something, but at that moment, all the words were stuck in her throat. She swallowed them all.
Sitar's breath was light, spraying onto Anno's face like a feather.
She leaned back involuntarily, but Sitar's hand on her neck prevented her from running away. After realizing her intention to dodge, he placed his other hand on her waist and pulled her into his arms.
Anno pressed her hand against his chest, her anger still simmering, when he was grabbed by the waist and lifted up, sitting on his lap.
Now Anuo had nowhere to retreat; no matter how much she leaned back, she couldn't escape the distance of his hand.
His hand rested on the back of her neck, her most vulnerable spot, a gesture of protection and control. His fingers gently caressed the back of her neck, wanting to apply pressure but afraid of making her uncomfortable, his touch restrained.
With a hint of defiance, Anno continued to brace herself against his chest, keeping a distance between them.
The current state of the two of them is really strange.
At this point, they shut down their consciousness networks and stopped using their consciousness to explore the other party.
Instead, it's like an intelligent alien being, using its eyes and bodily senses to perceive the other person's actions and emotions.
This is a very strange and perplexing behavior.
No family member would dare to do this to an Ohmu, and it's highly unlikely that any pair of Ohmu in the past would have done this to them.
However, the two of them had a tacit understanding at this moment: they would not open their consciousness network.
Anno was acting out of spite.
Sitar wanted to truly feel it; even without the transmission and intertwining of the consciousness network, their emotions would be grounded in every inch of skin and every breath.
The atmosphere and emotions between the two were being pulled invisibly. The stage lights flickered, and the melodious singing filled Anno's hearing. Sital's movements drew all her sensory attention to him.
She didn't know what she was sulking about. The Sitars were not her kin. Her mother had taught her that, apart from her parents, they were the only ones whose souls and feelings were equal and most harmonious.
Perhaps it's because Sitar is never quite obedient or goes along with her wishes. Even though their consciousnesses are always connected, she still sometimes doesn't quite understand Sitar.
But now that I think about it carefully, what she doesn't understand isn't Sitar, but rather a certain emotion and feeling that exists in their consciousness.
Because Sitar doesn't understand either.
Both are merely king insects driven by genetic instincts, unaware of emotions that transcend genetic control.
They instinctively believed that this was something they were meant to have, something etched into their genes and souls.
Those emotions that transcended their genes were too weak; they were all lost.
This is very different. They love each other without needing anyone to teach them. Their genes simply allow them to love, from birth to death.
Isn't that how it should be?
But the two of them still felt something was different, though they couldn't quite put their finger on it.
