Chapter 460: Tiancheng Future
Fei Jue felt his soul being stirred by the girl's voice.
Her words were like some kind of divine revelation, causing his soul to tremble.
The evening breeze blew, lifting Anuo's long hair, and her voice was carried on the wind, scattering across the bustling city.
At this moment, Fei Jue felt as if he were in a mesmerizing dream.
The girl beside him woke him from his dream, showed him what the real world was like, and introduced him to the word "future."
People from Leica rarely talk about the future, and even when they do, it's always with a hint of self-deprecation and irony.
They concentrated all their resources in the City of Heaven, then kept consuming them, then concentrated them again, and consumed them again, trapping themselves in a cycle of devastation.
There is hope only if a hole is created.
Anno turned her head to look at Feijue, "You are still different from them."
Fei Jue snapped out of his daze and smiled at An Nuo, "Why does Your Highness think I'm different?"
Anno mentioned someone: "09."
"What are you trying to test by letting them out?"
A hint of helplessness flashed in Fei Jue's eyes. "Your Highness is always so outspoken; sometimes it's truly alarming."
Anno said, "Are you scared? There's no need to worry. I was just stating my opinion, it might not be true, right?"
Fei Jue smiled and said, "Your Highness is truly intelligent and insightful. No wonder Her Majesty the Queen favors you so much."
Anuo smiled faintly, concealing the glint in her eyes, and asked him, "Where are you planning to take me today?"
Fei Jue tapped on his personal computer, summoning a levitation device to stop in front of him. He then reached out his hand to the girl in front of him, saying, "I really like the story of the Sky City you told me. Since the girl in the story likes the land, I'll take her to see it."
The hovercraft passed through the dense city, left the central area, and stopped near the city walls.
Feijue led Anuo into a spacious botanical center.
As soon as Anno entered the hall, he saw various plants displayed in glass cabinets.
Fei Jue explained to her, "These are all extinct plants of Lycra."
Anno walked up to one of the glass containers and placed her hand on it. "Are the plants inside real?"
"It's true, but they can't survive on the ground; they need an energy supply to live."
Anno asked in confusion, "Did these plants also need energy stones to grow before?"
Fei Jue shook his head and smiled helplessly: "No need. It's just that the habitable planets of Lyca are too badly damaged by the war and are not suitable for their growth. The planets that are not damaged have not met the conditions for habitation, so they can only stay in the greenhouse."
Anno seemed to understand something. "If even they can't grow normally on the ground, then you and the rest of you will be the same."
Fei Jue nodded and said, "That's right. I've been working on this for years, and I've also gone to many places with the research team to try it out. Even if they can grow, they can't survive for long. Only energy stones can make them grow normally and also change our Lyca physique and way of life."
Anno asked knowingly, "Do you Lyca people have enough energy stones to maintain this state indefinitely?"
Fei Jue paused for a moment, then looked at her and said, "Our Lyca people's way of life using energy stones is not long-standing, and the losses are very high. However, the efficiency of mining and obtaining energy stones is very low, so I'm afraid it can't be sustained for much longer."
Anuo looked at Feijue and a sigh seemed to pass through his eyes, which were filled with worry and helplessness.
Completely different from his usual nonchalant demeanor, he was genuinely worried about the future of the Lyca people and had taken concrete actions.
Anno glanced around the hall; such a large botanical museum, yet there were very few visitors.
Fei Jue said to her, "Most of them don't care about Lyca's future."
Anno watched as a child stood on tiptoe and peered through the glass, and whispered, "Yes, they all call themselves Celestials, not Lyca People."
In a single sentence, he pinpointed the biggest predicament facing the city today.
The celestial beings only care about their current wealth and pleasure, and do not care about Leica's future.
Anuo turned to look at Feijue: "But you care, so there must be a reason why Xi chose you as her successor."
Fei Jue smiled casually: "It wasn't just me who was chosen, but also Caius and several other candidates. I'm just one of them."
“But you are the only one who cares about the future of the Lyca people, and it’s all for the sake of the City of Heaven.”
Fei Jue shrugged. "This won't do much for my succession. The Celestials won't give me more votes because of this. Even if I inherit, it won't change anything."
Upon hearing this, Anuo's heart stirred. Her gaze lingered on Fei Jue's face for a moment, as if she understood something.
She asked tentatively, "So, you're not very interested in inheriting the throne?"
Fei Jue smiled and said, "Although inheriting the throne will not change the current situation of Tianzhi City, nor will it increase power much, I don't want someone I hate to sit in that position and hinder me from doing some things."
Anno thought for a moment and said, "You mean Caius?"
Fei Jue said, "Your Highness, there are many Celestials who are more annoying than Caius, and he is actually one of the more pleasing ones."
Anno said, "It seems that the queen isn't hindering you from doing anything right now."
Fei Jue said, "Your Highness, Her Majesty the Queen stopped interfering in affairs a long time ago. As long as there are no major changes in the City of Heaven, she just glances at those political matters."
Anno gazed at the moving plant in front of her and said softly, "She has been in charge of the City of Heaven for hundreds of years. Being locked up in a cage like this for hundreds of years must have made her feel tired and weary."
Fei Jue smiled at her, "It seems that Your Highness has begun to understand the Queen. She must be very pleased."
Anno shook his head and said, "I don't really understand. I just feel that Heavenly City is indeed a cage, and we are all people locked in the cage."
Fei Jue reached out his hand to Anuo, "Let's go, Your Highness, I'll take you to see the others."
Anno: "The others?"
Fei Jue explained, "This is just an exhibition hall. I'll take you to see our breeding farm."
Following Fei Jue through a winding path, Anuo arrived at the breeding farm he had mentioned.
Upon entering, Anno saw a large flower field, where various flowers were in full bloom, and butterflies and bees were flitting among them. In addition to the flower field, Anno also saw other crops.
Inside the studios on both sides of the corridor, many staff members were busy cultivating various plants.
"Your Highness, would you like to come in and have a look?"
Fei Jue opened one of the doors and addressed Anno.
Anno followed him into the flower field, where a rich fragrance of flowers wafted towards them, carrying the scent of dampness and earth, completely different from the smell they had experienced in the Golden Palace.
She took a deep breath, feeling a moment of relief as her spirits, which had been suppressed for several days, were calmed.
She walked towards the flower field, and butterflies and bees all swarmed around her. Anno stretched out her hand, and the butterflies landed on her hand.
Fei Jue joked, "Speaking of which, you two should be considered distant relatives, right?"
Anno gave him a strange look. "Do you have some misunderstanding about us Zerg?"
Fei Jue raised an eyebrow. "Would Your Highness be willing to answer my question?"
Anno gently stroked the back of a bee that was resting on the back of her hand and said, "The insect creatures in other civilizations of our insect race are different. Although they have similar social patterns, their genes and physical structures are very different. Perhaps they were more similar in the ancient times of the insect race."
As she spoke, Anuo placed her hand in front of Feijue. Her hand returned to its original form, becoming a soft, translucent tentacle that emitted a faint glow, with tiny points of light inside, making it beautiful even in daylight.
She hadn't been able to transform into her original form for a long time, and thinking about this, she wanted to return to the main planet and swim in a lake full of golden sand.
She hadn't had any Zerg energy stones to provide her with energy for so long, and she was starting to feel hungry.
"So beautiful," Fei Jue exclaimed, looking at her tentacles.
Anno quickly transformed her hand back, and a fluffy little animal stopped at her feet. She squatted down and petted it.
“It seems I made the right decision to bring Your Highness here; Your Highness seems to enjoy it very much,” Fei Jue said.
Anno hummed in agreement and continued walking to other places.
To the right of the flower field was a dense forest. Anno looked around and asked curiously, "Is this also indoors?"
Fei Jue smiled and shook his head: "No, this forest borders the outside of the city wall, but there will still be guards on the outer perimeter."
Anno walked towards the forest, asking as he went, "What's in this forest?"
Fei Jue stayed by her side, helping her watch her step, saying, "They're just some wild animals."
"Wild?" Anno said, "Wouldn't this be considered greenhouse-like?"
Fei Jue said, "It's in a greenhouse, but animals in the forest will never know they're in a greenhouse; their world is just that forest."
Anno said, "So, the Celestials who have never seen the outside world think that the world is only as big as the City of Heaven. Even if they know about it through technological images, they are used to the comfort of the City of Heaven and do not have the courage to go out and make changes."
Fei Jue helped her cross a stream and said, "Sometimes change is cruel to them. They will complain about those who have ruined their peaceful lives. People like us who want to make changes are their mortal enemies."
Anno turned to look at him: "Even so, will you continue to insist on making changes?"
Fei Jue said, "Is it wrong for a minority to be clear-headed? To make a change, one must have a firm belief and the courage to be ready to sacrifice at any time."
Anno then asked, "So what is your belief?"
Fei Jue smiled and said, "Your Highness has already expressed my beliefs."
Anno stared at his smiling eyes for a while, then said, "The story of Sky City."
To reach the ground, changes and sacrifices must be made.
Sure enough, Fei Jue was involved in Ling Jiu's betrayal of Tian Zhi Cheng from the very beginning.
The two reached the edge of the forest. From there, they could see a distant lake and a stream that almost reached the entire greenhouse.
What appears to be a beautiful pastoral scene is actually an artificial, illusory world.
Suddenly, Anuo heard a strange noise coming from the forest. She and Feijue exchanged a glance and looked towards the forest. Several shadows darted past them.
