Chapter 163: Lifespan
When Anaiya came to find Anno, she saw her holding a huge bottle of liquor and chugging it down.
She knew that Anuo really liked to drink. Back in the base, if they got a bottle of wine, Anuo would hide it by her bedside and only take a sip before going to sleep. She was reluctant to drink it at other times.
The weather was cold in the West End, but after a sip of wine, I felt warm all over.
Upon seeing Anaiya arrive, Anuo was taken aback at first, then suddenly jumped up from her seat, exclaiming, "Sister Anaiya!"
Anaya smiled and ran up to her, giving her a hug. "You were sleeping the whole time, so I didn't bother you."
After saying that, her gaze shifted to Sevier, who was sitting next to Anno. "Your Majesty."
Sevier nodded slightly to her, stood up, and hugged Anno's head, rubbing it gently. "You two chat, I need to go to a meeting."
Anno nodded; she knew her mother wanted them to talk alone.
When Anno saw Cangmiao standing at the door looking at them, he told Anaya, "Don't drink too much," as soon as Sevier came out, and then left with Sevier.
"I'm starving."
As soon as they left, Anaiya immediately sat down at the table, picked up her knife and fork and started eating. Anno noticed that she looked like she hadn't eaten in a long time, so he silently placed the food in the bowl in front of her.
"Nono, are you full?" Anaiya asked after swallowing the food in her mouth.
"I'm full." Anuo poured her a glass of wine.
Anaya picked up the wine, smelled it, and then handed it to Anno, saying, "This wine is too strong; I can't drink it."
As she spoke, she picked up a bottle of beverage that didn't look like alcohol from the various drinks placed in the middle of the table, opened it, and poured herself a drink.
In the past, Anaiya would also drink a little alcohol, but it was a luxury. Knowing that Anno liked alcohol, Anaiya would only take a small sip each time and pretend not to like it when giving the alcohol to her.
Later, when she arrived in the Tianyun Galaxy, she discovered that she really couldn't drink alcohol. It wasn't that she didn't like it, but her alcohol tolerance was extremely low.
"Sister Nai, I know you like to drink."
Anno knew that she was being accommodating to him, and every time he wanted to share with her, she refused to drink.
Anaya smiled and said, "I didn't drink before because alcohol was too expensive. A bottle of alcohol could be exchanged for a gun and ten bullets. Now I can't drink because my alcohol tolerance is too low. If I drink, I might go crazy."
It's one thing for her to act crazy when she's drunk in front of Cangmiao and the others, but she should restrain herself in front of Nuonuo.
Anno watched as Anaiya poured herself other drinks, then flicked her finger on Anaiya's glass. "This is also wine."
She sniffed again, "But the alcohol content isn't high."
"Really?" Anaya looked at the bottle and saw that the alcohol content was indeed not high, so she drank it without worry.
Half an hour later, Anaya hugged Anuo tightly and rubbed against her, saying, "Nono, I'm so happy to see you. I thought I would never see you again in this lifetime."
Anno straightened his back and held Anaya's waist with one hand to prevent her from falling.
At this moment, the two of them were sitting on the platform of the base's watchtower. From the tall watchtower, they could see the entire base.
This is on one of the asteroids in the asteroid belt in the outer reaches of the River System.
This asteroid has no life and no atmosphere, and you can see the stars overhead at a glance.
The entire base is covered by a huge transparent dome, a Zerg technology that provides the air and energy needed for survival, allowing people to move freely within the base without the need for any space equipment.
However, as a precaution, everyone in the base needs to be equipped with a nanosuit for use in emergency situations.
Anno and Anaiya sat by the watchtower, just as they used to sit on the base's walls, gazing out into the distance.
Anaya, her face flushed with intoxication, clung to Anno and mumbled, "Nono, look, we can finally see the outside world."
Anno said gently, "Yes, we have seen the outside world."
After saying that, she picked up a bottle of wine next to her and took a few gulps. When Anaya reached out to take it, she held the bottle up high and coaxed, "It's all gone."
Beside Anuo were seven or eight bottles of wine, most of which she had already drunk.
Anaya had only drunk less than a glass of wine during dinner, and she was already quite drunk, but she still dragged Anno up to the watchtower, saying she wanted to take her to see the stars.
Although she was drunk, she was still quite clear-headed. Leaning against Anuo, she told her about what happened after she died on Earth and was reborn in the Tianyun Galaxy.
After hearing what she said, Anuo hugged her tightly, feeling sorry for her.
Even though she was given a new lease on life, her life was still full of hardships.
It's just better than the environment on Earth, where you could be dead at any moment.
"Oh, by the way, Nono, how old are you now?"
Anaya sat up straighter and looked at Anno with her bright, watery eyes.
Looking at the still very young face in front of her, she reached out and touched it, then gently pinched it. "I came to the Tianyun Galaxy after I died on Earth more than ten years ago, and I feel that you haven't changed at all. You still look the same as I remember you."
Anno: "It must be that our timelines are different. In my timeline, you have only been gone for less than three years, but the time difference between us may be more than just a few years."
In this universe, there are many wormholes that can travel through time and space. Both of them arrived at Earth through a wormhole.
Anno is an Ohmu. After being stabbed in the back on Earth, the Ohmu's self-preservation mechanism allowed her to return to her shell.
Later, while in the North River system, she also learned about the ancient Earth, which is now housed in museums. Based on the traces of civilization on it, she deduced that the ancient Earth was only about three hundred years old.
In other words, Earth's timeline matches the time after she disappeared.
After hearing Anno's words, Anaya thought for a moment and said, "I was in the body of the Holy Tree Mother for a long time. Actually, the time we spent together should be about the same. It's just that we only experienced a few years of time together."
Anno: "I spend a relatively long time back in the egg. The Zerg will stop growing in the egg. They will only continue to grow once they have enough energy to return to their initial growth age."
Anaya asked with some surprise, "I don't know much about the Zerg. I only know from books that the Zerg have a long lifespan and reach adulthood later than the Tianyun people. So, Nuonuo, you should only be sixteen now?"
Anno nodded: "His growth age is sixteen."
Anaya laughed, "No wonder I felt you hadn't changed at all. But once a Zerg reaches adulthood, their appearance remains that of an adult and doesn't change."
Anno hummed in agreement. "It's not just the Zerg. Many races in the interstellar space are similar these days. They can basically maintain their adult form for a long time and have a very short aging period. I've heard that the Holy Spirits don't age either."
"Well, the Holy Spirit is energy transformed into a physical body, so it doesn't age, but its lifespan is much shorter than that of many races, only one hundred and fifty years."
After Anaya finished speaking, Anno immediately fell silent.
Sensing Anno's silence, Anaya smiled, hugged her neck, and nuzzled her, saying, "Actually, it's already a long time. When I thought I was an Earthling, I thought that living for thirty or forty years would be a lifetime. Now that I can live to be over a hundred, I find it a bit unbelievable."
Anno's lips twitched slightly as he held the stoic Anaya in his arms and sighed inwardly.
The lifespan of the Zerg is simply too long. If she had lived among the Zerg without experiencing life as an "Earthling," she wouldn't have had such thoughts, because the Zerg are xenophobic and don't care about other races, nor would they compare their lifespan with that of other races.
But now, she feels inexplicably sad that one of her friends has a lifespan that is less than one-fifth of that of an adult compared to the Zerg.
Anaya could sense Anno's emotions and comforted her, saying, "Nono, don't be sad. It's already very lucky that we can meet again. As long as we are happy, the length of our lives is not particularly important."
As she spoke, she seemed to remember something, sat up straighter, and turned on her personal terminal: "I almost forgot, let me show you my little darling."
Anno: "Hmm?"
Anaya pulled out a photo from the computer's album. "This is Little Star, his real name is Cangyao, my eldest son."
Anno was stunned.
What? Son?
She saw the child on the screen, who was only seven or eight years old and looked exactly like Cang Miao, and she couldn't react for a moment.
In her memory, Sister Nai had only been gone for a little over two years. They were about the same age, but Sister Nai already had such a big son?!
