Chapter 127: Heaven and Earth
Logan and Karina carefully explained how to take care of Anno before taking the other unhappy children home.
She and Tang Ting have now obtained clues about Nono's core, and she must find it before being transferred back to the legion.
I need to go back and make a proper plan.
On the lawn outside Hailier's house, Karina and Ji Yu were playing with Anuo and Huo Yin. It was almost Anuo's usual bedtime, but seeing that she wasn't sleepy, Karina let her play a little longer, thinking she would fall asleep when she got tired.
"I don't know what's going on up there, but they actually sent us all back."
"
Ji Yu turned to look at Karina beside him, who was staring intently at Anno.
She said, "No matter what happens above, it's not our place to do anything right now."
Ji Yu leaned back in his chair and chuckled, "That's true. We're only first-year students, so we don't have to go to the battlefield yet. But we thought you'd be very interested in combat."
Karina: "Not interested."
Ji Yu raised an eyebrow in surprise upon hearing her words. He had known Karina since his first year at the Superpower Academy. She had always been a loner, and the most he had seen her was in the training room, either fighting or researching various mechs and fighter jets. It was all about fighting.
She actually said she wasn't interested in fighting.
If he didn't know her straightforward and outspoken personality, he would have thought she was joking.
"Oh, right, I have something to show you."
Karina slowly turned her head. "What?"
Ji Yu took out a feather necklace from his pocket. "This is made from the feathers I have. I thought it was pretty, so I made a necklace for you."
Karina looked puzzled: "Aren't you a mutant? You shed fur?"
Ji Yu grinned: "Even different species can transform. We birds all have molting seasons."
Karina looked at the feather necklace on his hand, which shimmered faintly under the light: "I'm not interested in this kind of thing."
Ji Yu sighed softly, "So what are you interested in?"
Karina immediately turned her gaze to the lawn, which was empty. Anno and Huo Yin were nowhere to be seen, in just a short while.
The two of them suddenly stood up from the bench.
Below the lawn slope, Anuo looked at Huo Yin, who had suddenly fainted, and kept calling to him, "Huo Yin, Huo Yin, wake up."
The fighter jet had just lost its balance and landed on the edge of this slope. She tried to pick herself up but slipped and slid down the slope. Huo Yin grabbed her and suddenly fainted, rolling down the slope with her in his arms.
Anno noticed that his eyes were tightly closed, but his energy level was stable.
Just as she was about to open her personal terminal to call out to her second sister, she felt a very familiar energy coming from not far away.
This energy has been with her since she came into this world, like a faint ghost guarding her.
After all this time, she became increasingly eager to know who this energy came from.
The energy was very close to her, and she followed it, her gaze settling on the corner of a streetlamp at a house not far away.
A hazy figure cast a shadow under the streetlight.
Anno glanced at Huo Yin; his energy aura was stable, as if he were asleep.
She stood up and walked towards the figure. When the figure saw her walking towards him, he turned around and was about to leave.
Anno quickened his pace, "Don't go!"
She couldn't help but start jogging, not paying attention to her footing, and tripped over a vine that stretched out from it, falling face-first onto the grass.
She tried to stand up, but a pair of large hands reached out and lifted her up from the ground, setting her to stand.
Anno was afraid he would run away again, so she grabbed his hand and looked up at him.
Looking up, I was met with a pair of cool, heterochromatic red and blue eyes.
The man in front of her was wearing a hood, his handsome face half-hidden in the shadows. He looked down at her, his long hair falling from the hood and landing on her cheek, with a cool touch.
"Did you hurt yourself?"
A hint of pity appeared in Bazel's eyes.
Anno stared at him intently: "Who are you?"
His face was unfamiliar to her, but his eyes... she felt like she'd seen them somewhere before.
Looking at the tiny girl in front of him, Bazel was moved and couldn't help but reach out and touch her cheek.
This was the first time in so long that I had been so close to her, the first time I had touched his seed, the only seed in his heart.
"I......"
Just as Bazel opened his mouth, he saw two figures rushing towards Anno.
He can't be exposed now; he needs to continue protecting Nuonuo. He has to leave.
He stood up, and Anuo grabbed his sleeve. "Are you leaving again? Will I ever see you again?"
Bazel reached out and patted her head. "Yes."
Having said that, she pulled the hem of her dress back from Anno's hand and quickly disappeared into the darkness.
"Xiao Qi!"
No sooner had Bazel left than Karina and Ji Yu followed.
Karina checked her over from head to toe, and only breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that she was alright.
Ji Yu said, "Keep an eye on Xiao Qi, I'm going to chase after that person."
Anuo immediately called out to Ji Yu, "Huo Yin has fainted."
Ji Yu stopped in his tracks, turned around, and said, "He fainted again?"
Seeing that there was no one in front of him, Ji Yu had no choice but to give up the idea of chasing after the person. Anyway, there were surveillance cameras, and he would know who it was when he got back.
Karina asked Anno, "Who was that person you were talking to just now? Do you know them?"
Anno shook his head.
Karina picked her up and said, "Don't talk to people you don't know in the future."
Anno leaned on Karina's shoulder and looked back. Although he could no longer see her, his energy was still nearby.
The next time they meet, she must ask him why he keeps following her around and why she is so familiar with his energy.
She is very wary and defensive towards strangers. If someone makes her want to get to know them, there must be some connection between them.
Ji Yu found Huo Yin fast asleep in a patch of grass at the bottom of the slope. He picked him up, sighed, and said, "I don't know what's wrong with Huo Yin. He keeps fainting all the time, and we can't find out what's wrong with him."
Anno: "He's asleep."
Ji Yu thought to himself, even if he fell asleep instantly, it was still a bit abnormal.
Back home, Hailier and Suya were used to seeing Ji Yu carrying Huo Yin back, and told him to take Huo Yin to his room to sleep.
Karina saw that it was getting late, so she took Anno to the room that had been prepared for them to sleep.
She had just changed Anuo into her pajamas when Huo Yin came in, seemingly intending to sleep with Anuo.
Ji Yu leaned against the door, shook his head and laughed, "He's really persistent. It's the first time I've seen someone wake up so quickly after fainting, just so he can sleep with Xiao Qi."
Huo Yin watched as Anuo got into bed, and Karina sat on the edge of the bed, hugging a pillow as she lay down beside them.
Karina scooped him up. "Alright, you can sleep in the bed now."
He originally asked Xiaoqi to stay because he wanted to be with her, but Karina thought he had fallen asleep beforehand, so she let Xiaoqi sleep.
Now that he's come all this way, she won't argue with him about this one night.
As Ji Yu watched Karina walk towards him, he said, "I've prepared another room for you, right next to mine."
Karina didn't care where she stayed. She saw that the two children had already lain down, turned off the lights for them, and left, closing the door behind her.
Anuo was still not very sleepy. She turned to look at Huo Yin and asked him, "Huo Yin, why do you keep fainting? Are you feeling unwell?"
Huo Yin: "I don't feel unwell, and I don't know why I fainted."
Looking into his beautiful golden eyes, she asked again, "Do you remember your past?"
"The old ones?"
"Yes, that was before Hicks rescued me."
Huo Yin looked intently at Anuo, holding her hand and said, "As far back as I can remember, I've been wandering in desolate places, searching for something."
Anorio asked, somewhat puzzled, "What are you looking for?"
"Yes, after meeting you, I knew that you were the one I was looking for. Now I understand that my mission in life is to find you and be with you."
Anno listened to his sincere words spoken in his childish voice, and her heart stirred slightly. "Your life shouldn't only consist of me. You will find what you love to do, and there will be a wider world for you in the future."
Huo Yin looked at her with unwavering eyes: "You are my whole world."
