Chapter 259: A Puppet

Chapter 259: A Puppet

She sat down at the table, and when Daisy saw her pick up her knife and fork, a look of delight immediately appeared on her face. Daisy then carefully poured her wine and served her the meal.

Anno wanted to push the wine aside, but after thinking about it, he picked it up and took two sips.

Earlier in the lobby, she had seen a lot of wine in front of her, so Brightman and the others must know her preferences.

She didn't dare drink too much; at a time like this, she didn't know what might happen if she drank.

She ate her meal at a leisurely pace, drank a glass of wine, and then put down her knife and fork, seemingly only reluctantly compromising.

If you appear too compliant, it will only arouse suspicion.

After finishing her meal, she sat on the sofa for a while. Dain brought her some books and asked her from time to time if she needed any other forms of entertainment.

Anno didn't answer, and touched her cheek.

Her cheeks were burning hot; they must have turned red.

The alcohol content wasn't high, but her cheeks would turn red as soon as she tasted it, regardless of the alcohol strength.

She glanced at the ribbon of light hanging over her shoulder, which also glowed slightly red.

"Your Highness, if you can't concentrate on your reading, I'll play games with you. There are many games here."

Dain turned on the offline game console and handed the remote control to Anno.

Anno didn't speak; she was looking at a book. Dain noticed that Anno hadn't moved and looked at the book, noticing that Anno was holding it upside down.

"Your Highness?" she called out to her with a hint of confusion.

Anno slowly put the book down, revealing half of her face, which was flushed with a faint blush, from behind it.

"Are you calling me?" Anno blinked at her.

Looking at her pure and lovely appearance, Daiyin's heart softened. "Your Highness, you are holding your book upside down."

Anuo looked bewildered, flipping through the book repeatedly: "Is it reversed? It's not reversed."

Daisy noticed that her behavior and demeanor were completely different from her previous indifferent self; she seemed more like... drunk.

Seeing that her face and the light were flushed, Daisy was certain of her thoughts: Her Highness was indeed drunk.

"Your Highness, you should rest."

She went over to help her up from the sofa.

Anno threw the book at her, "No! I want to go out and play!"

As she spoke, she jumped up from the sofa and ran towards the door.

Daiyin hurriedly followed, "Your Highness, let's just play in the room."

Anno saw that Dain was hugging her waist, preventing her from opening the door and leaving. She secretly pushed Dain with some force and opened the door.

A row of guards stood at the entrance.

She insisted on going out, and the gatekeeper naturally tried to stop her.

Unable to see clearly, Anuo lowered her eyes and stood at the doorway.

Seeing her sad expression, Daisy gently comforted her from the side.

"Your Highness, please, let's go back to the room, okay? I'll play whatever you want with you."

She had just finished speaking when she heard a slight noise from the side. Anno was highly focused and looked up when she heard the noise. She saw that Brightman was walking out from next door.

Her eyes lit up; it turned out that Brightman lived right next door.

Brightman walked up to her, looked at her, and asked, "Where do you want to go?"

Anuo looked at him with a confused expression. "Who are you? Why do you smell like me?"

Brightman paused slightly before replying, "I am Brightman, and on my body..."

“I like it.” Anno smiled. “I like people who have the same vibe as me.”

At that moment, a corner of the icy iceberg in Brightman's eyes melted from his expressionless face.

She said she liked it.

She was smiling at herself.

Brightman raised his hand to her cheek, as if unsure of her words, "Do you really like it?"

He never questioned anyone, but at this moment, his heart, which had been like a stagnant pool, was stirred by her words and smile.

Anuo suppressed her discomfort, her eyes glazed with drunkenness, and tilted her head, "I like it."

You like it my ass! You stole my core fragment, I'll eat you alive, you little bastard!

If it were her old temper, she would have drawn her knife and attacked without hesitation.

But the current situation is not suitable for doing so. They want to take the core of Sital, and she cannot let them succeed.

As long as she sees Sitar, they will have a way out.

The combination of the queen insect and the king insect can generate enormous energy, but she and Sitar have not yet put it into practice.

She wasn't trying to gain Brightman's trust; he was just a pathetic puppet in Dennis's hands, devoid of his own thoughts.

Even if Brightman believed her and protected her, Dennis wouldn't.

What she had to do was go insane between normalcy and abnormality, so that Dennis could use his powers to control her.

Dennis will only trust her if he uses his powers to control her.

She overheard some of Dennis's plans, and that he would continue to use her; she couldn't stay trapped in the room forever.

She had just learned that Mingxiao and Tanwell had been locked up separately by them, and she was afraid that Dennis might harm them.

Brightman took Anno's hand. "I'll take you out."

“Your Highness Brightman,” the guard said somewhat disapprovingly, “the leader said she is not allowed to leave the base.”

Brightman turned his head and glanced at him expressionlessly. His dark eyes, as black as lacquer, were filled with coldness. The guard was intimidated by his gaze and retreated without saying anything more.

Anno resisted the urge to pull her hand back and let Brightman lead her out.

She was somewhat surprised that Brightman was so easy to talk to; he took her out as soon as she asked.

Brightman led her through a long corridor, and after entering the elevator, he pressed the button for the seventh floor.

She silently memorized the way out and followed Brightman without saying a word.

When Brightman looked at her, she blinked and pretended to be drunk and confused.

Brightman didn't say anything, but he tightened his grip on her hand.

The elevator went all the way to the seventh floor. After exiting the elevator, there was a corridor with rough stone walls on both sides. Unlike the previous corridor, which had pure white walls and no visible edges or gaps, this corridor was now made of stone.

It looks like the entrance to some kind of cave.

The corridor lights were dimmer than those below, and there was a stone door about ten meters ahead.

Anno guessed that the base might be underground.

Brightman led her forward, and when they reached the end, the stone door opened automatically, letting in a salty sea breeze carrying the fragrance of grass and trees.

After stepping outside and seeing the scene, Anno's guess was confirmed: the base was indeed underground and located near the coast.

The place where she and Brightman are now is just a platform jutting out from the shore, with steps leading up to it on the left.

"It's the sea!"

She broke free from Brightman's hand and ran to the edge of the platform. Brightman looked a little nervous, afraid that she would fall off the platform.

She lay on the grass, looking at the seawater several meters above the ground.

Even after she came out, there was still a shielding magnetic field. She wondered if she could jump down and swim further away to get out of the shielding magnetic field's range.

However, she cannot leave now.

"Be careful, you might fall."

Brightman helped her up, and Anno pointed to the sea and laughed, "Brightman, I want to see the whales!"

“I can’t go.” Brightman refused decisively, and Anno’s lips immediately drooped, and he pursed his lips unhappily.

As Brightman looked at Anno's round, light blue eyes gazing at him, he felt a strange sense of grievance. This feeling was different from the satisfaction he used to get from wanting to possess her and keep her by his side.

He felt happy.

In my dream, she stood vividly in front of me, laughing and joking.

Even though he knew she was drunk.

"This sea is called Wudu Sea. There are no whales here, and the creatures in the sea are very fierce and will attack people and ships."

Anno blinked hesitantly, then let out a disappointed "Oh".

"Come with me."

Brightman led her up the stone steps to the right, where there was a flat, wide meadow, and a manor not far ahead.

It is nighttime, and the sky is filled with stars.

Anno looked around. It was a small island, and you could see the end of it at a glance.

Brightman led her into the manor and up to a lookout platform on the right, from which the entire island could be seen.

She watched as Brightman used his wind-based ability, causing the wind below to howl and blow out all the fireflies hidden in the grass.

Then, using his wind-based powers, Brightman gathered the fireflies together, forming the shape of a sea whale.

Firefly whales swam around her, their soft glow creating a magnificent and moving spectacle.
