Chapter Seven: The Federation
Ivana stopped banging, picked up her water glass, took a sip, and eased the tense atmosphere.
When everyone heard about Hicks and Lockin, their expressions became somewhat subtle.
After a Fire Seedling is successfully born, it will be selected for foster care based on factors such as genetics and family background, just like other cubs. Each parent in each family must pass a rigorous examination in order to obtain the right to raise the cub.
Each eligible family can participate in a lottery to raise the Fire Seedling, but only one vote is allowed.
For some special cases of the Fire Seed Cubs, such as the one on Kappa Star, Hicks rescued her and is the number one hero. In addition to receiving merit points and other rewards, the most important reward is that she can fight for an extra vote of custody for her family.
Now that Commander Lockin has also gone to the rescue, their family has gained another source of income.
In the past, the Northern River System experienced periods of chaos due to wars and other factors, resulting in the theft of seeds and their private cultivation by some special circumstances.
Therefore, in addition to other inspection work, the inspection department also established a special department to be responsible for the work related to the "fire starter".
However, such a thing has not happened for several hundred years.
The key personnel in the audit department in the office are all looking at each other, not daring to say a word.
The various procedures, documents, and genetic screenings before the creation of the spark were all handled by them, and their level of confidentiality was the highest. Compared to the Security Department, which was only responsible for security, they had a greater responsibility for screening and confidentiality.
Eve glanced at the expressions of the people from the investigation department and sneered inwardly.
Her stunt today was meant to give the investigation department a warning; ever since Hicks stepped down, the department has become increasingly disorganized.
She knew in her heart that the sparkling offspring of Kappa Star might not have been taken away by someone, otherwise they would have been secretly cultivated, instead of being abandoned in an abandoned petri dish factory on Kappa Star, left empty and unguarded.
"Even in the normal environment of Kappa, it would be difficult for young beasts to survive."
"I don't know what the inspection department is doing, making such a huge oversight."
"I think they've been living too comfortably all their lives. They might not even know there's a mole among them."
Hearing these words, the CEO of the investigation department turned ashen-faced. All he could do now was to bite the bullet and take the blame.
No matter how lax their inspection department is, they cannot be lax about the matter of the spark.
Rumors circulated along the way that there was a mole in their inspection department, which terrified him.
After something like this happened, their investigation department will definitely be jointly investigated by the federal headquarters. If they find out that there is a mole, even if the current sparkling cub is not a seed stolen by a mole, the investigation department will have to take the blame.
Now he can only pray that they don't actually find a mole or something, otherwise his time as CEO will be over. He finally managed to get rid of Hicks, and he hasn't even warmed his seat as CEO yet!
Most importantly, he also wanted to secure custody of another child for his family. If they were investigated, they would be out of luck and wouldn't get a single child.
As Ivna listened to the discussion, she rubbed her throbbing temples, got up, and walked towards the door.
In the lounge, Ivana looked up at the starry sky through the huge transparent glass and pulled up Hicks's communication from her personal computer.
She dialed the number, and unsurprisingly, it displayed an error message indicating an incorrect contact code.
After a burst of static, Evena turned off the communication, knowing that Hicks would receive her messages.
She was very worried about the condition of the little spark and wanted to get information about it directly from Hicks.
However, Hicks's current status is special, so we cannot contact him directly; we can only wait for him to reply using other contact codes.

Cappa Star, Eastvale District Watchtower.
The aircraft landed steadily, stopping halfway up a valley, on a large, sloping hillside.
This slope is an illusion created by the projector; it looks like a slope, but it is actually a flat area.
Even though this location can block most of the wind and snow, the wind and snow outside are still so heavy that visibility is almost zero.
Hicks looked at the sleeping cub in her arms, carefully wrapped her tighter in her trench coat, and carried her out of the aircraft.
As soon as she went outside, Anno was awakened by the howling wind, but Hicks had her hand around her head, and she couldn't peek out no matter how hard she tried.
Huo Yin followed closely behind them, cautiously scanning his surroundings, sniffing the wind and snow to make sure there were no other dangerous creatures nearby.
Hicks saw that there was nothing on the slope in front of him. He scanned the area in front of him with his computer, and the illusions he created flickered a few times, revealing a dilapidated tower.
This is one of the many watchtowers on Kappa in the past.
As soon as the watchtower appeared, Hicks quickly ran to the watchtower entrance with the cub in her arms and kicked open the old watchtower door.
The people inside were startled by Hicks's voice, and their hands went to the weapons at their waists.
Hicks?
Mike exclaimed in surprise upon seeing the person who had arrived: "You got here so quickly!"
Seeing what he was holding in his arms, and Huo Yin standing behind him with obvious beast-like features, Mike smiled wryly and said, "I knew it, Hicks. You've already stuffed five or six beast-like cubs into my place. If any more come, my little watchtower won't be able to hold them all."
After seeing Apa close the door, Hicks loosened his grip on Anno, allowing the little cub that had been wriggling in his arms to peek out.
Mike was taken aback when he saw her, and then his eyes widened slowly.
"Hicks, this cub is...is...a spark?!"
The light bands that belong to the characteristics of the fire seed, the slightly pointed ears, and the faint aura of energy.
This is a Flame Seed Cub!
Hicks ignored Mike's shock, glanced at the few beastmen who came out from upstairs and the inner room, and asked, "Where is what I asked for?"
Mike stared intently at Anno in his arms, as if he were nailed to the spot.
The other beast cubs in the room also stared at Anno with their mouths agape.
Hicks slapped Mike hard. "I'm talking to you! Where's what I asked for? The cubs are hungry."
Mike snapped out of his daze and, still looking shocked, said to him, "I had someone deliver it a long time ago. The blizzard outside has reached level seven, and it's winter on Kappa now, so it's too dangerous. The deliveryman is stuck on the way because of the blizzard. He'll be able to deliver it once the wind gets a little calmer."
After saying that, Mike turned around to get the clothes and equipment hanging on the wall: "I'll go meet him."
No one should go hungry, but the young sparks of life must not go hungry!
"Be careful, Apa is going with you."
Mike nodded, glanced at the Fire Seed cub, and went out with Apa to meet the deliverymen.
