Chapter 149: I Will Not Forgive

Chapter 149: I Will Not Forgive

"You must always be sharp."

Memories of the past kept flashing before Anno's eyes, and her hand on the crystal tree slowly tightened.

Anno closed her eyes, turned around and walked outside.

Caesar and Secris immediately followed, keeping close behind her.

Anno walked out of the palace and headed towards the boundless plain before her, just as she had done countless times in her dreams, walking on the vast crystal plain, shrouded in eternal night, a night that brought her unparalleled peace of mind.

Now she realizes that the scenes in her dreams were her home.

For the first time, Caesar and his men sensed that His Highness's emotions had calmed down, but beneath this calm lay a volcano about to erupt.

For the next few days, Anno rested and ate normally, staying quietly in the palace.

Most of the time, she would sit in front of the fireplace, sketching and writing in a sketchbook, then throwing her finished drawings into the flames.

Augsis and Sevier came to keep her company, and she quietly leaned against them, as if she had truly moved on from the hurt of the past. If it were anyone else, they would certainly think so, but as Zerg connected by the consciousness network, they all knew that Anno was only temporarily suppressing her emotions.

They stayed by her side every step of the way, indulging her every whim and desire, but she rarely spoke, often just sitting alone on the sofa, lost in thought.

Seeing her like this, Augustus and Sevier felt a pang of heartache.

They channeled all their anger and heartache into a sword aimed at the North Star System. Only by avenging all the harm done to their Anunu could they be worthy of their Anunu and quell the anger in their hearts.

"Let's do it this way."

Anno tore a finished drawing from the book and handed it to Secris. Secris took it and saw that it was a knife.

He didn't ask any questions, and after agreeing, he took the paper and made a knife for Anuo according to her request.

Anno summoned Mingxiao, who was in a meeting, through the consciousness network.

Upon hearing Anno's summons, Mingxiao rushed back to the palace as fast as he could. This was the first time the young prince had summoned him, and he was so excited that his face turned red.

"Your Highness, is there anything you need to tell me?"

Mingxiao squatted down in front of Anuo, looking at her with longing in her light brown eyes.

Anno swiped her hand across the projection screen in front of her, which displayed recent news about the wars between the alliances. On the page in front of her were the communication avatars of Tang Ting and Logan.

Since she returned to the Zerg, their communication codes have been offline, including Karina and all the other Norsemen she knew; none of them were online.

Tang Ting and the others helped her return to the Zerg and fight against the Northern River Federation, and now she just wants to know if they are safe.

Mingxiao, with her sharp eyes, noticed the projection on Anuo's personal computer and said to her, "Your Highness, the situation in Beihe is currently chaotic, and even the Skynet is not very stable. If you are worried about your adopted family, I will try to help you contact them."

Anno gave a soft "hmm" and ran her finger over their profile pictures.

In the chat window of Lokin, there is also a message she sends periodically:

[Baby, Mom knows you'll be home safely when you see this message. Mom hopes your life will be healthy and happy from now on. Don't worry about us, and don't feel any burden because of us. Do what you want to do. All the mistakes are caused by the adults in this world, tainting you with darkness and causing you so much harm when you were still a child. Baby, we're sorry we're also part of the group that hurt you. We didn't choose our birth, but we can choose who we become. The mistake has been made, and we will bear all the consequences. But Mom still hopes you can see the light of this world and let that light soothe the wounds in your heart. Love you forever, Mom and Dad.]

Anno's finger hovered over the last line of text. She lowered her eyes, making it impossible to discern her emotions.

Tanvel knelt down in front of her and gently took her hand. "Your Highness, you don't need to suppress your emotions. You can do whatever you want."

Anno didn't say anything and turned off the computer interface.

Her eyes were cold and indifferent. She was a Zerg, and even though she had lived as a human for so many years, the Zerg genes had influenced most of her personality and way of thinking.

The Zerg act by taking revenge and clearly distinguishing between gratitude and resentment.

She will not forgive the past hurts because of Tang Ting and Luo Jin, nor will she forget the kindness they showed her.

She knew that the Alliance War had already begun. Those star systems that had allied with the Northern River were only coveting the resources of the Zerg. Three hundred years ago, the Northern River people stole her and took her core, but those star systems that had allied with the Northern River didn't care whether the Northern River had done something wrong first.

She could still hear the conversations of the Northern River people when she was still in the egg. These voices burned her like wildfire. The calmer her face appeared, the more a storm raged in the depths of her heart, ready to erupt at any moment.

Sevier reported the theft of her by North River to the Alliance Court early on, but since the Zerg had not joined the Alliance, the Alliance would not uphold justice for them. Sevier and her companions did not expect the Alliance to do anything. She did this simply to tell the Alliance about the evil deeds committed by North River and that they should wage war against the North River system for the sake of Anunu and their Zerg. Others should not get involved, or they would all be wiped out.

Sevier and her allies not only want to overthrow Beihe, but also to defeat and subdue the other star systems in the alliance. They want to stand at the highest position in the alliance, hold Beihe by the neck, and make them admit their guilt for harming Anunu.

If no one stands up for them, then they will stand up for themselves.

"Your Majesty, our advance force has already engaged in battle with Tianyun's First Legion on the asteroid belt along the Northern River front..."

In the main hall of the palace, Sevier, as usual, listened to her family members report on the battle situation while Anno was sleeping.

A new round of alliance war has now begun, and she must seize the opportunity to push to the doorstep of the Northern River system as quickly as possible.

She can hear messages from her kin in the consciousness network, but Anunu is also in the consciousness network. She is the little queen beetle and can receive any information in the consciousness network. The private domain cannot block her consciousness.

She didn't want Anunu to be involved in these things anymore, so she had her family report to her offline. She told them that her parents should avenge her, and that she only needed to grow up happily. They would not let anything happen to her that would make her sad again.

Before the family members could finish their report, their voices stopped abruptly, and all eyes turned to Anno, who was walking out of the inner hall.

She wore a light gauze dress, her long hair cascading down her back, and she seemed to be draped in a layer of moonlight, shimmering with a faint glow, breathtakingly beautiful.

Upon seeing her, Sevier quickly got up and walked towards her. "Anunu, you're awake. Have you eaten yet? How about Mommy goes to eat with you?"

Anuo shook her head: "I'm not hungry yet, Mom, you guys continue."

Sevier paused, exchanged a glance with Augsis, patted her head gently, and said softly, "Then Anunu will accompany her mother to handle government affairs."

Anno nodded, letting Sevier lead her to the throne.

Seville sat on the throne, holding Anno in her arms, and continued to listen to her retinue's reports on military matters.

As Augustis watched Sevier sit on the throne, holding Anunu, a hint of relief flashed in his eyes. He had imagined this scene countless times in the past: Sevier holding their little Anunu, ruling the Zerg together. Perhaps Anunu would be a little troublemaker, but that didn't matter. All Zerg had this volatile nature. No matter how naughty Anunu was, with them around, no one would dare to say a word.

But now, seeing Anunu so quiet, they felt incredibly sorry for her.

Anno listened attentively to her family members' reports on the battle at the front. After the meeting, Sevier and the others accompanied her back to the inner palace for a meal.

From beginning to end, Anno never commented on the war, nor did he inquire about it.

The next day, halfway through their meeting in the palace, Sevier and Augsis discovered that Anunu's presence had suddenly vanished from the palace.

The two were startled and stood up from their thrones, immediately summoning Anno's retinue.
