Chapter Thirty-Six: Clash
Countless electrode beasts surrounded the starship where Anno was located. The electric magnetic field formed by their bodies paralyzed most of the systems of nearby ships that were not properly defended, and even the starport and nearby inspection base were significantly affected.
It had been a long time since so many Electro Beasts had appeared on Canghai Star. As far as the eye could see, they were densely packed, filling the gaps between Anno's starship and other ships.
Based on this number, it has already formed a beast tide.
At this point, restoring communications is impossible; the information department, which specializes in handling communications and network systems, is already pushing the system to its limits.
Fortunately, before these electric beasts appeared, they had sent a message to Canghai Star, and Canghai Star's fleet was on its way to provide support.
Lokin stared coldly at the electrode beast before him, while the officer beside him couldn't help but ask, "Commander, shouldn't we attack?"
“Wait a little longer.” Lokin’s hand on the table slowly tightened. “Electrode Beasts rarely attack large spaceships on their own. Something on our starship must be attracting them.”
“If they don’t attack first, we can’t attack either. There are too many of them. We can’t afford to waste time with them. The real enemy is still hiding behind them.”
Like most creatures that roam in space, the Electro Beasts are similar in nature; they will not attack spaceships or people unless attacked.
Normally, as long as the deflectors are installed near the flight paths of each planet, the Electro Beasts will not approach. The spaceship will also have a deflection signal. The only exception is when the Electro Beasts migrate in large groups, they will try to pass by the spaceship when there is a deflection signal.
These space creatures live completely different lifestyles from planetary creatures. Even in this technologically advanced interstellar age, people still don't quite understand these creatures. They only know some of their personalities and habits to avoid conflict with them.
Fortunately, these creatures are all relatively docile; as long as you don't provoke them, you'll be fine.
"It's not the season for the Electro Beasts to migrate, is it?"
A staff member opened the database of space creatures, which contained detailed information on various space creatures.
Logan said, "Even if it's their migration season now, they won't take this migration route. Canghai Star has the most powerful dispersal device."
After saying that, Lokin turned to look at the little cub who was still sleeping peacefully in the rest area. Because the soundproof cover was on, she could not hear the noise from the outside world.
Looking at her peaceful sleeping face, Luo Jin said to the other adjutant beside him, "Li Yue, there's an enemy infiltrated on the starship, go investigate!"
"yes!"
She wasn't incapable of dealing with these electrode beasts, but there were young cubs on the starship, and she couldn't take that risk.
"Commander, Starport Two has been attacked!"
A staff member who received the message immediately reported the information to Locke and projected the video onto the conference table.
The crowd saw an explosion at Starport No. 2 in the video, with flames filling the screen. The attackers looked well-trained and fully equipped, like an army.
“They are rebels,” the starship’s commander said in a deep voice.
"Commander, Starport Five has also been attacked!"
"And there's Starport Three..."
Logan looked up at the outer space and said, "No need to broadcast anymore, I can see it."
At this moment, everyone looked out through the porthole and saw several spaceships indiscriminately attacking the spaceships waiting for inspection. The spaceships that had no time to defend themselves were instantly hit and exploded.
Logan decisively gave the order: "Send some fighters to support the other ships, and the rest will stay around our starship. If anything happens, attack immediately."
An officer asked Lockin, "Commander, should we take the Fireseed cubs to the safe room?"
Lokin glanced at him sideways: "What could be safer than having her by my side?"
The officer immediately replied, "Yes, we will definitely protect the cub with us here. I'm just worried that we might not be able to keep an eye on her when we get busy."
Upon hearing this, Lokin glanced at him a couple more times; his reason was really too far-fetched.
In such a tense and busy situation, others might overlook it. It was indeed just a word of concern, and his expression showed worry and concern for the cub. There was nothing wrong with it.
But for a major to stand at the conference table with a group of higher-ranking officers and say such things is somewhat unbecoming of his rank.
One officer said, "Yes, Bright, the cub is safest with us. In this situation, we need to keep her under our watchful eyes."
Bright smiled slightly: "It was my oversight."
Lokin tapped his fingers lightly on the table. Wu Sui, who was with Anno in the rest area, listened to the rhythm of Lokin's tapping through her headphones, looked at her, and then at Bright.
He stood up, disengaged his weapon, and positioned himself behind the cub.
At this moment, the rebels outside were clashing with their fighter jets, and more rebel warships were surrounding them. The Canghai Star army also arrived in time, but half of them were sent to support the starport en route.
The flames of war spread across this part of space. As Locke watched the villainous ships approach the last line of defense of their starship, he immediately ordered the starship to attack.
Moments later, the approaching ships were shattered by their weapons.
After they attacked the rebel ship, the Electro Beasts, which had been motionless, immediately unleashed a powerful electromagnetic attack. Lightning connected between their bodies, and then a larger bolt of lightning converged and attacked their starship.
The lightning was blocked by the starship's defensive shields, creating ripples of blue light.
"Commander, the defensive shield's power has decreased by ten percent."
Logan frowned. His attack had reduced the enemy's strength by 10% after just one strike, making its attack power comparable to that of their strongest warship.
"Commander, the Electro Beast is gathering energy again!"
Electricity flowed through the Electrode Beasts, and another massive bolt of lightning struck their starship, reducing their defensive shield by another ten percent.
Just as the two sides were locked in a fierce battle, the control room received a signal that a wormhole had appeared nearby.
Logan, who had been calm all along, paused when he received the wormhole signal. He then clicked on the signal and his expression turned serious when he saw the wormhole's attributes. "It's an R-type wormhole. It can be opened and disappeared at will without leaving a trace. Currently, only the Zerg can open this type of wormhole."
These wormholes are not passable by large warships; at most, they can only pass through some fighter jets and shuttles. So even if the Zerg had this technology, they wouldn't directly attack them; there's no real need for it, and they also have ways to deal with it.
But why did the Zerg arrive at this time?
