Chapter 256: That's all
Anno awoke from her brief coma.
She stared at the pure white ceiling above her for two seconds, then rolled out of bed.
She remembered that she and Sitar fell through a portal, and Sitar caught her, and the two landed in a dark space.
The enclosed space was filled with a large amount of anesthetic gas, and then she lost consciousness.
Thinking of this, Anno reached for his wrist, wanting to take out a nanoweapon, but found nothing.
She then looked herself over and realized that, apart from the clothes she was wearing, all her weapons and defensive items were gone.
Even the energy stone pendant she was wearing was taken away.
The energy mineral ornaments on her head, which were only used for decoration, were also completely stripped away.
She forced herself to calm down and tried to sense Sitar using her mental network, but something had cut off her network, and she couldn't sense anything.
Her gaze swept across the room, which was entirely white, and contained nothing but a bed.
The four walls are completely sealed, with no door, making it look like a completely enclosed space.
She walked to the wall and touched it to see if she could find any switch.
The walls were smooth, and after touching them for a while, I couldn't find any mechanisms.
As she was about to check other areas, the wall in front of her gradually became transparent. She immediately became alert and took two steps back.
Through the transparent glass wall, Anno could see the wide corridor outside and the guards standing in a row.
A door appeared in the wall next to her, and several girls in long white dresses filed in carrying trays.
Anno observed them discreetly.
Judging from their appearance, these girls don't seem to be from the Northern River system.
Their skin was wheat-colored, their features were three-dimensional and deep, and they wore some gold and silver jewelry.
They may not be as refined as the people of the Northern River system, but they are much more magnanimous.
"Your Highness."
The girl in the lead clasped her hands together and bowed respectfully to Anno.
Then, two girls came forward, holding a beautiful blue and white dress in their hands, and extended their hands to her.
Anno stepped back, dodging their hands, and frowned slightly.
Seeing Aloo's obvious resistance, Dain smiled slightly at her: "Your Highness Aloo, His Highness Brightman is still waiting for you. We apologize for removing your jewelry, but we have prepared new ones for you."
"These ornaments, though lacking the energy of the Zerg's minerals, are still strange and beautiful gems."
Anno's eyes swept over the trays held by the girls, which were filled with all sorts of precious and beautiful gemstones and crystal ornaments.
Looking at the girl's friendly expression, she asked, "Where is this?"
Daiyin bowed her head respectfully: "Daiyin's duty is to serve Your Highness and take you to the main hall."
Anno glanced at the group of girls with their heads down, knowing he wouldn't get any information out of them. He could only leave the room first, observe them slowly, and look for an opportunity to contact the Zerg.
It was Brightman who brought her here. He even opened a portal to the palace. In just half a minute of fighting, he used several superpowers that she was familiar with.
Each ability has reached an energy level exceeding S-class.
This is not something a normal person could do.
In interstellar space, people with multiple superpowers do exist, but they are few and far between.
Moreover, people with multiple superpowers have very low superpower levels. A person's energy is limited, and when this limited energy is distributed among multiple superpowers, the superpower level will be much lower than that of someone with a single superpower.
Currently, the only thing that can perfectly balance both is having two superpowers.
If you have more than two abilities, you won't be able to manage your physical energy levels.
Therefore, people who possess multiple superpowers will ultimately only strengthen one of them.
Not only does Brightman possess a variety of abilities, but his level of superpowers is also unusually high, which is quite beyond comprehension.
Anno put aside her thoughts and let Daiyin and the others dress her up.
"May I have your name?"
Anno asked the girl in front of her who had put the earring on her.
“My name is Daiyin, Your Highness.”
What race are they?
Daisy paused, "The Motesi tribe."
Anno mentally reviewed the various civilizations and races he had learned about.
A moment later, she found information related to this race.
Daiyin is a Casa.
The Mortes are one of the sub-species of the Casa system.
This race also calls themselves the children of the sun, and lives on the planet Deva, which is illuminated by two stars.
She said to Dain, "This is the first time I've heard of this race."
Daiyin put a crystal necklace on her finger. "Your Highness comes from the Zerg. The Zerg rarely communicate with the outside world, so you probably don't know much about other races either."
Each galaxy has many racial branches, ranging from dozens to hundreds or even thousands.
The Mortsi are just a small branch of the Casa system.
After dressing Anno, a look of amazement flashed in Daiyin's eyes. She turned to the side and said respectfully, "Your Highness, please come with us."
As they spoke, a sphere floated in front of them, leading the way.
Anno lifted her skirt and followed the sphere out of the room.
Dain walked beside her, with the other girls following behind. Anno would ask her questions from time to time, and Dain would answer some of them, but not others.
She would either skip over anything that revealed this place or other private information, or remain silent.
Anno walked around, observing his surroundings.
There was a guard every ten steps in the corridor, and apart from the corridor, she didn't see anything else; the layout was very simple.
The technology here is different from what she has seen before; it's probably Casa's technology.
After walking for two or three minutes, the sphere in front of her stopped, and the wall in front of her was swept away, revealing a space.
Inside is a large hall.
After walking through a dimly lit passageway, Daisy led her into the main hall.
In the very center of the hall was a long dining table, and Brightman was sitting at the head of the table.
There was no one else in the hall except him.
Anno didn't feel that he was the only one there. Despite the strong shielding magnetic field, she could vaguely sense that there were other people in the hall.
Daiyin led her to the dining table. "Your Highness, please have your meal."
Then, he led the other girls away.
Brightman looked up at the girl. She had grown a bit more than a year ago. The gorgeous jewelry she wore was not as dazzling as her appearance and could only serve as a backdrop to her beauty.
She still doesn't like to smile, and there's a coldness in her eyes that even she herself doesn't realize, while she tries her best to appear calm.
"Aloo, you must be hungry. See if there's anything you like to eat."
He got up and sat down opposite her.
Anno didn't even glance at the food, instead fixing her gaze on Brightman.
"What is your purpose in arresting me?" she asked bluntly.
Brightman stared at her intently and said, "Be with me."
Anno: "That's all?"
Brightman: "That's all."
Anno leaned back in her chair, her expression even colder than before. "But you have hurt my family."
"They're preventing me from taking you away."
"Then why did you still capture Sitar?"
"He also tried to stop me."
Anno took a slow breath, trying to suppress the anger in his heart, and softened his tone, "Didn't you just want to be with me? Release Sitar, and my family too."
She remembered that Mingxiao seemed to have fallen into the portal with her.
Brightman's exquisite, flawless face was expressionless; the only vivid thing about him was the way he looked at her, almost greedily.
"Dennis wants him, but we can let the others go."
Anno's heart skipped a beat. "What do you need him for?"
Brightman lowered his eyes: "I'm sorry, I can't say."
"Then let me see him."
"no."
As soon as Brightman finished speaking, the hall fell silent.
His eyes remained fixed on Anuo, wanting to see how long she could hold out.
He watched as the anger in Anuo's eyes intensified, her chest heaving with barely suppressed rage. After a long while, she could no longer contain her anger and picked up a wine glass, throwing it at him.
A crisp sound.
Brightman didn't dodge the glass, which hit him squarely on the forehead, shattering into pieces, but he wasn't even scratched.
Not to mention that his abilities have grown to a terrifying level, even a normal Northern River Star human wouldn't be injured by a wine glass.
Anno glanced around almost imperceptibly. To the side and behind Brightman, against the wall, there was a distorted mark, like a flickering image due to a poor projection signal.
She saw Brightman lift his finger slightly from the table.
She maintained her anger, keeping her gaze fixed on Brightman.
"What exactly do you want to do?"
Brightman flicked away the shards of wine that landed on him. "You don't need to know any of this. You just need to stay by my side."
Anno: "I hate being trapped."
Brightman: "I know."
Anno jumped up from her seat. "Then lock me up here!"
Her hand slowly moved to the knife beside her.
