Chapter 184: Persistence
"Your Highness."
Caesar's voice came from the consciousness network.
Anno looked at the hazy, indistinct image of the portal in front of him, but there was no sign of Caesar.
Caesar knew he was still being punished and couldn't see her, so he dared not emerge from the portal.
"Your Highness, may I touch your hand?" Caesar's voice spoke to her through the consciousness network.
It turns out that Caesar was still thinking about how he hadn't been able to touch her hand last time.
He has always been this persistent.
She smiled gently, pursing her lips. "Then hold out your hand."
As soon as she finished speaking, a slender hand reached out from the portal, seemingly impatient.
She looked at the long, strong hand in front of her, with faint blue veins showing on it, and silvery-white insect patterns winding down from it.
His hand was facing upwards with his fingers hanging down, just like the posture he usually adopted when bowing down to her.
His hands remained hanging down, motionless, like a perfect sculpture.
But Anno could sense a faint excitement emanating from his consciousness within the consciousness network.
He suppressed his emotions, but this only made Anno feel them even more intensely.
She reached out and touched the back of his hand.
With just that gentle touch, she heard Caesar let out a satisfied sigh in her mind's eye.
After she touched him, Caesar prepared to withdraw his hand, but his movements were very slow, showing that he was very reluctant.
Seeing him like this, she reached out and grasped one of his fingers.
Caesar's movements immediately stopped. He dared not pull back or reach out to grasp her hand, and remained in the position where her fingers were held, letting her do as she pleased.
Caesar, who had just been filled with excitement, has now fallen silent in his consciousness network.
He didn't say a word to his prince, fearing that if he spoke, the prince would withdraw his hand.
He didn't speak, but his emotions were clearly revealed in his consciousness network. Anno could personally feel all of his emotions, and he carefully hid his excitement.
At this moment, he did not deliberately "show off" in front of the other family members as he usually did. He wanted to keep this memory of spending time with His Highness in his heart, so that only he and His Highness could see it.
Before His Highness, he had no secrets and could not hide any emotions. His excitement, agitation, joy, and willfulness all belonged to His Highness.
Seeing that Caesar dared not move, Anno felt a desire to tease him.
She loosened his fingers, wanting to see his reaction.
Caesar felt her loosen her grip, paused for a moment, and then slowly withdrew her hand. Anno then reached for his hand again.
After repeating this several times, Caesar simply stopped pulling his hand back. He knew that His Highness wanted to play with him, so he stretched his hand out in front of him.
Just as he reached forward slightly, because Anno moved closer, his hand reached out in front of her and touched her face.
The moment Caesar's hand touched her cheek, it trembled slightly, and he immediately froze.
At this moment, he should withdraw his hand. How could he possibly touch His Highness?! That would be disrespectful!
But he couldn't bear to pull his hand away; the warm touch felt like it was burning in his heart.
Even though he knew he was wrong, his hand seemed to be nailed there and wouldn't come back.
"Your Highness."
Caesar cautiously called out to Anno within the web of consciousness.
Anno sensed his intense thoughts in the consciousness network, smiled slightly, then grabbed his hand and slipped half of his body through the spatial portal.
It all happened in an instant; before Caesar could even react, His Highness suddenly appeared before him.
Originally, Caesar was practically pressed against the edge of the portal in order to get closer to His Highness.
Anno suddenly emerged from the portal and was right in front of his face, their noses almost touching.
Anno had no idea that he would be so close to the portal.
Although she could estimate how far he was from the portal by the distance of his outstretched hand, she didn't think that much about it at the time, especially since there was a distance between the portals.
The moment Anno was right in front of Caesar, his expression froze.
This was quite unexpected. She had only wanted to tease Caesar and see what he was doing on the other side.
Although she can understand the thoughts of all her relatives through her consciousness network, she cannot know what they are doing or what environment they are in at the moment unless she intentionally asks them and they relay what they see to her through their consciousness network.
The most important aspect of the consciousness network is communication and mutual understanding. The consciousness network is not a real-time camera; not everything can be known through it.
Being so close, Anno could feel Caesar's heart beating extremely fast, as if it were about to leap out of his body.
His heart was pounding, but she could no longer feel his breath, because Caesar had held his breath.
At that moment, Caesar almost forgot that he was still being punished, and his hands almost uncontrollably wanted to embrace His Highness.
But as a member of the Oohmu, his genes are deeply ingrained with a natural submission to the Oohmu, which tells him he cannot do this.
You must not do anything intimate with His Highness without His Highness's permission.
After a while, Anuo took another step back.
She looked at the face in front of her and slowly raised her hand, placing it on his forehead.
"Caesar, your horns have grown."
As she spoke, she placed her hand on his corner and touched it.
His horns were as black as ink, engraved with dark red insect patterns, and hard and cold in texture.
Not only his horns, but also the insect patterns on his body slowly became visible.
Zerg usually only reveal their original form during battle, and usually maintain a humanoid form in normal times, because they get very excited when they fight, especially on the battlefield.
Revealing their original form during battle is also a manifestation of the Zerg's ancient genes.
Now, Caesar is so excited that he has revealed his original form.
The moment she touched Caesar, his heart pounded even faster, as if a giant drum was beating incessantly.
No matter how much Caesar tried to restrain himself, his consciousness could not be hidden within the network of consciousness, especially since Tanvir felt it very clearly.
Anno's several high-ranking relatives had been secretly watching her through the consciousness network, and suddenly they sensed Caesar's incredibly excited consciousness.
Except for Obsidian and Bright Night, who were a little slow to react, the others immediately knew what was going on.
Unexpectedly, Caesar dared to go to His Highness while being punished.
The Queen made her point to him very clearly last time.
What he is doing now is a violation of His Highness and the Queen.
Having just finished a meeting, Sevier wanted to talk to her Anunu in the consciousness network first, but she sensed the strong dissatisfaction of Anunu's several followers in the consciousness network, as well as Caesar's consciousness, which he tried to hide but still revealed excitement.
Her gaze instantly turned cold; as expected, Caesar's personality meant he wouldn't obediently accept punishment.
If he did something underhanded, she wouldn't bother to pick a fight with him as long as she didn't notice. But for him to do this right under her nose, he's incredibly audacious.
Anno hadn't expected Caesar to be so excited. He immediately released his horns and complimented, "Your horns are really beautiful."
Although I had seen it before, this was the first time I had seen it up close, and it was also the first time I had ever touched it.
She really liked this Zerg form and hoped that she could grow into a Zerg form like her mother.
But she is a member of the Firefly race, and cannot grow such hard horns, nor can she grow hard exoskeletons like Caesar and the others.
She also hopes to be an aggressive insect with a fierce appearance and a hard exoskeleton.
Since he couldn't grow it himself, he could only admire the appearance of his family members.
Caesar stood upright, letting Anno's hand stroke his horn. He knew His Highness liked his horn and was looking at the insect patterns on his face. He was also happy that His Highness liked it; at least His Highness hadn't touched the horns of any other familiars yet.
However, he knew that Tanvel had revealed the insect markings on his body to His Highness. Although he could seal his consciousness and prevent them from probing, Tanvel had deliberately opened his consciousness to them. They would never hide anything from His Highness if they wanted to show themselves off.
