Chapter 370: Just one

Chapter 370: Just one

Anno needed to get to the nearest base, which was a safe point for players, especially newbies who didn't have equipment or know the game rules, and needed to find a safe point as quickly as possible.

This game doesn't require leveling up; it relies on the player's survival and coping abilities. It's mostly played by military academy students and students with special abilities.

Players are eliminated immediately if they die in the game.

Anno is currently in the wild, where she encounters monsters from time to time and is also subject to random beast tides.

She was a newbie and unfamiliar with the map. One of the more realistic aspects of this game is that there is no teleportation function, and the map size is constructed according to the actual area. If you want to go to a farther place, it is best to take a vehicle.

However, new players are slightly better off because they won't be teleported too far from the safe zone when they first enter the game, and the game will also provide some prompts.

Holding the only dagger in his hand, Anno visually surveyed the surrounding environment and, based on past experience, headed towards a safer location.

Mingxiao and Poponia wanted to come find her, so she couldn't just sit there and wait to die.

Sitar and the others also headed towards the safe zone in their respective areas. Anno saw that none of them had revealed their IDs, so he let them be.

However, Sitar wanted to know.

She was now wearing holographic glasses and moving on the game track. She and Sitar were all in the game room on the second floor of the villa. They were all beside her, and they managed to keep quiet.

The Zerg's special sensory abilities allowed her to know, without looking, which direction Sitar and the others were in and how far away they were from her.

Sitar was to her left; they could reach out and hold each other's hands.

The other family members were positioned behind her.

She called out to Sital in the team's voice chat, "My Tata, where are you?"

After a few seconds of silence, Sitar's voice came through the headset, "Also in the desert region, our nearest base is the same, we'll meet up at the base."

Anno saw a small megaphone icon popping up next to the ID 【小壳壳】 in the team list.

A smile played on her lips as she continued walking.

There are no superpowers in this game; everyone is an ordinary person, and survival depends on their own abilities.

A wave of heat rolled in from ahead, and Anno could almost feel a wave of heat washing over him.

A rustling sound came from beneath her feet, and the desert around her began to flow, vibrating rhythmically.

Without a second thought, she took off running. The sand behind her kept sinking, forming a funnel-shaped sand pit. If she had stayed in the quicksand area, she would have been trapped and never been able to get out.

When Anno was on Earth, he had carried out missions in desert regions and was very familiar with the various terrains in the desert.

When faced with monsters, she prioritizes running away and avoids confrontation unless absolutely necessary.

A giant, over three meters tall and with a stocky build, crawled out from under the yellow sand and chased after Anno.

It moves incredibly fast, like a seal swimming through an ocean formed by the desert.

Anno glanced back once and knew that this monster was beyond her current capabilities, so she quickly ran towards a pile of ruins ahead.

As the monster lunged at her, she rolled away to dodge its attack.

This round, chubby monster does indeed look a lot like a seal. It has short claws and attacks people by biting with its mouth and also by attacking with its tail.

Anno entered the ruins before its next attack.

She quickly climbed onto a half-collapsed wall and walked on the ruins. The monster's body was not as agile on solid ground as it was in the desert. It tried to grab Anno several times, but after failing to catch her, it guarded the ruins standing in the desert.

Anno stood on high ground, watching the round, fat monster swim around her, intending to waste time with her there.

With it guarding her like this, there's no way she can outrun it on her own two legs; she has to think of other ways.

She glanced around and could already see the massive high walls of the base in the distance.

Then, she searched through the ruins for useful tools to see if she could deal with the monster.

As she searched through the ruins, a howl came from outside; it was the same sound the monster chasing her made.

Thinking the monster was about to enter the ruins, she immediately climbed back onto the wall. Just as she climbed up, she saw a figure nimbly flip onto the wall where she was.

Their eyes met.

Anno raised a slight brow, drawing out her voice, "Little Shell."

Sitar reached out and touched her face; the motion-sensing devices she wore allowed them to feel real touch.

It was also the first time Sitar had played this game, and he was very curious, touching and pinching Anno here and there.

Anno didn't want to be taken advantage of, so she went back.

The two round, fat monsters watched as they touched each other on the city wall, making disgruntled noises.

Then, Anno heard them actually start talking.

"Have you guys touched her enough? Which team and which academy are you from?"

Another monster spoke up, "This young couple is always causing trouble, they don't respect us at all! I'll bite them to death!"

A hint of surprise flashed in Anno and Sitar's eyes, and they both turned to look at them.

"The monsters in this game have such high intelligence after they evolve," Anno said, stroking his chin. "They can even talk now."

Sitar nodded: "The game is well-made, quite interesting."

The two monsters heard their voices and glanced at each other.

“He’s a newbie,” Monster Number One said.

"Then let's have one," said Monster Number Two.

Hearing their conversation, Anno asked curiously, "Why do you only eat one?"

Monster Number One: "It's a lot of fun to separate couples and watch one of them be heartbroken or crying their eyes out, yelling that they want to log off."

Anno said earnestly, "We will not be heartbroken, nor will we cry our eyes out."

"The young couple is starting to talk back." The monster's tail slapped behind it, raising clouds of dust. Its body shrank back a little, as if preparing to leap and attack.

Anno and Sitar exchanged a glance and grasped each other's hands.

"You guys are players too, right?" Anno asked again as the monsters attacked.

“Yes, that’s right.” A monster kindly told them, “There are no NPCs in this game. All living creatures are players, and players play different roles.”

Anno nodded. "I see. That sounds fun."

"You can also choose to play as monsters, which is much more fun than playing as humans. After we eat you, you can choose to play as monsters again. There are many types to choose from. Monsters are much stronger than humans. Then we can attack the base together."

The two monsters extended an invitation to Anno and his companion, and then pounced on them.

Anno and Sitar jumped toward the wall behind them, dodging their attacks. Their massive bodies crashed into the ruins with a loud thud.
