Chapter 534: The Battle of the Two Kings
Outside the palace, Caesar and Chita were reluctant to part.
The abilities of the failed male insect king truly impressed Mingxiao and his companions, making them eager to test their skills.
The other defeated male insect kings glanced over them, their hands stroking the longswords at their waists, a hint of provocation in their expressions.
They also wanted to see how capable the attendants around the goddess were, and whether they were qualified to stand by her side.
With a loud bang, Chi was kicked off the ground by Caesar and crashed to the ground.
Chi clutched his chest and quickly got up from the ground, but stumbled a couple of times as he stood up.
He pulled open his coat and looked down; there were several small cracks in the outer armor on his chest.
"Your abilities are good, but you're still a little bit behind your brother."
Caesar landed back beside Anno, raising an eyebrow at Chi.
Chi exhaled, twirled the longsword in his hand, and sheathed it. "You won."
He paused for a moment, then slowly uttered a single syllable: "Your Majesty."
Seeing that Chi was defeated in less than a hundred moves, the other male insect kings who had failed to transform also took a step back, lowered their heads slightly, and made way for them.
They all sensed that Caesar didn't want to fight them. It was enough for one of them, Chi, to test the waters. They wouldn't gain anything by fighting him again, so it was better to let the one inside have a proper showdown with him.
Anno walked up to Chi and reached out his hand. Before Chi could react, he felt a warm current flow through his body, and the throbbing outer armor had already healed.
Chi exclaimed in astonishment, "My Lord God!"
Anno smiled faintly at him and entered the palace with Caesar.
As soon as she entered, she saw a familiar figure standing beneath the throne.
Upon seeing this figure from behind, Mingxiao exclaimed in surprise, "Your Highness Sitar?"
The other members of the family also looked surprised and puzzled. Obsidian said, "Isn't Prince Sitar still sleeping in the abyss?"
They all looked at Anuo, but Anuo wasn't particularly surprised; she looked stunned for a moment.
She had already sensed Sitar's presence while she was outside.
After a moment of stunned silence, she called out to Sitar, "Sitar?"
Caesar, who was beside her, held her hand tightly. He said on the surface that he would not fight for anything, but this was his territory, and it was impossible for her to give way to him on her own turf.
Sital turned around and opened his arms to Anno. "Come here, Anunu."
Anno hadn't thought too much about it yet. He was very happy to see that Anno had come out of the abyss. After realizing what had happened, he quickly walked towards him.
Halfway there, she suddenly remembered something, stopped, and asked Sitar, "You...when did you get here?"
Sitar glanced at Caesar and Mingxiao indifferently and said, "I followed you here after you arrived."
After saying that, he took a long stride and tried to walk up to Anuo and hug her.
In the next instant, Caesar appeared in front of Anno, his long sword pointed directly at his face. "Sitael, this throne does not belong to you. Being too greedy is not a good thing."
Sitar said calmly, "Is that so? You want them? They all fell to me."
His tone was calm, but his words were full of hostility, clearly telling Caesar that if he wanted the throne, he would have to take it from him.
Caesar smiled, his eyes cold and sharp. "Your Highness Sitar, you are truly good at planning ahead and getting there first. You have indeed used your abilities very well."
"Let me guess, what else did you foresee?"
Seeing this, the relatives all raised their eyebrows, and even Fei Xing and An Guang transformed into human form and stood aside to watch the show.
Tanvel was worried that a fight between them might hurt the little princess, so he grabbed her from behind and pulled her aside.
The high-ranking members of the Shadow Clan also entered the palace, and seeing the two kings locked in a fierce confrontation, they stepped aside.
To be honest, if they really had to choose, they would definitely choose one of their own. Although Caesar was parachuted in, at least the genes of the Shadow race flowed through his body. Sitar was different. They could smell a very dangerous aura about him. He definitely didn't just want to be their king; he just wanted to destroy them.
A Shadow Follower whispered in Blaze's ear, "What a pity, Scarlet originally had the best chance."
Scarlet was the high-ranking member among them with the highest chance of transformation, but he left the Shadow Clan more than a hundred years ago, wanting to find the god he was connected with.
But fate had other plans; he found it, but still died before his god.
Chi's gaze fell on Anuo and he said, "It didn't succeed. Even if the conversion rate is 99%, it's still 0."
Anno saw that Sitar had also revealed the long sword in his hand and wanted to step forward, but he was held down by Tanville and Secris. "Your Highness, you can't go over there. The two male insect kings are eager to fight. Going over there will hurt you."
Darklight blocked her way, saying, "Neither of them needs to win, but they can't lose, especially Caesar."
If Caesar were to lose to Sitar on this occasion, even if Anunu were to defend him, it would probably be to no avail. These Shadow Zerg are not easy to manage; each one of them is a troublemaker second only to Caesar.
They all hoped the two male insect kings would lose, so that they wouldn't easily let anyone else sit in the highest position of the Shadow Clan, the position next to Anno.
Fei Xing and An Guang exchanged a glance and said, "Sitar's move to cut off the enemy's supply line has left Caesar with no way out."
Sitar used his precognitive abilities to see that Caesar would return to the Shadow Clan and become king, which would pose a greater threat to his throne than if he stayed with the Light and Shadow Zerg. This would give Caesar the power of choice and the say, and he would no longer make any compromises or concessions.
So he simply reserved his spot in advance, arriving in the Holy Capital earlier than them, and dealt with this group of high-ranking relatives in the Holy Capital.
When Caesar arrives, he will have no choice but to face him.
Even if Caesar wins, he won't suffer any losses. In the end, Anunu will lead both races, and as a male insect king of the Light Insect race, he won't cause much of a stir for the Shadow Insect race. But if Caesar loses, his position as male insect king will be merely nominal. He will be relegated to the ranks of those male insect kings who failed to transform, and he won't be able to rise to prominence on either side.
Fei Xing thought to himself that the peace they maintained was only on the surface. If it were two male insect kings from the same clan, one could be forcibly suppressed, but the kings of two clans would fight to the death.
A hint of appreciation flashed in his dark eyes. "No wonder it's an egg that's been there for ten thousand years. It's even more cunning than the eggs that breed in the nest."
Fei Xing couldn't help but chuckle at the strange analogy of the dark light, and said, "Aren't you worried about Anunu?"
Darklight said, "There's no use worrying. We still have plenty of time to teach Anunu how to handle these two spoiled and wicked male insect kings."
Fei Xing glanced at the innocent-looking Anunu and thought to himself that even if he taught her for another hundred years or so, it would probably be of no use. One male insect king was one thing, but there were two of them.
As they were talking, Caesar and Sitar had already started fighting.
No one can stop this battle, not even Anno. Now that the highest-ranking members of both races are watching, she can't afford to show favoritism to either side and try to smooth things over.
At this moment, Obsidian and Bright Night leaned close to her ear and asked, "Your Highness, who do you want to win?"
Before Anno could answer them, Obsidian said, "It must be our Prince Sitar. He is the true male insect king and is destined to be with the little prince."
Mingxiao said, "It must be Lord Vanguard. I, Lord Vanguard, am also a male insect king. He earned this position through his own strength. Besides, he appeared by the young prince's side even earlier than Sitar!"
Obsidian: "It's Prince Sitar!"
Mingxiao: "It's Lord Vanguard!"
Anno reached out and pushed them away, one on each side. It wasn't a matter of her favoring one side over the other. Dark Light was right; neither side could afford to lose. She could unite the two races, but she needed a legitimate and powerful Queen Insect to take charge of the situation.
Even if Sitar wins, the Shadow Clan will never submit to him.
Sitar's move against Caesar was somewhat influenced by personal grudges.
After all, ever since Caesar's transformation, the resentment between the two of them has been building up, and each time it was suppressed by Anno. Sooner or later, it would explode. Even if it didn't explode today, they couldn't avoid this battle in the future.
In the vast palace, the energy generated by their battle left the surroundings in ruins; their speed was so fast that only their afterimages and blades could be seen.
Anno remained tense, his hands clenched into fists.
The family members who were initially just watching the show all fell silent after sensing Anno's tense mood, and stopped talking about the two male insect kings.
After hundreds of rounds of fighting, the area inside the hall, except for the spot where Anno and the others were standing, had been almost completely destroyed by the two of them.
With a crisp sound and a powerful energy wave spreading out, the swords in Caesar's and Sitar's hands shattered.
The two were knocked back several steps by the energy, their eyes turning icy as they looked at each other. They glanced at the broken swords in their hands, their arm veins bulging, and were about to step forward to continue fighting when a gentle yet powerful energy separated them.
A slender, tall figure slowly appeared between the two of them.
Let's stop here.
A heavenly female voice resounded in the main hall.
Upon seeing this figure, Fei Xing's pupils contracted, and his consciousness trembled uncontrollably.
The Shadow Insects inside the hall all knelt down, "Lord Wind Spirit."
Feng Ling turned around and gave Anuo and the others a faint smile.
"Anunu, I've been waiting for you for so long."
After Feng Ling finished speaking, her gaze fell on Fei Xing and An Guang, "Fei Xing, An Guang, I've been waiting for you for a long time too."
She smiled and opened her arms to Feixing.
After his initial shock, Fei Xing appeared in front of her in a flash, but he still couldn't quite believe that Feng Ling was really there in front of him.
At this moment, Feng Ling is just a consciousness, just like him.
"Feng Ling..." he murmured, his voice somewhat hoarse.
Feng Ling looked at him gently, "It's me, I'm still here."
After saying that, she hugged him and said, "I know you miss me, and so do I."
