Chapter 450: He or She
As night falls, the golden palace is enveloped in darkness, and without the sunlight, its radiance is no longer dazzling.
Anuo, with Feijue holding her wrist, slowly walked into the lavish banquet.
This banquet, specially arranged for her, was attended by the most elite beings at the very top of the pyramid.
The pleasant music flowed gently like water, and the aroma of fine wine permeated every inch of the air. Every breath was intoxicating, making one's heart race and the atmosphere become silently lively.
Anno's exquisite crystal shoes tapped rhythmically on the ground, her slender legs peeking out from under her long skirt, like fine mutton fat jade, gilded with a faint golden light, making them even more delicate and flawless.
The noisy banquet was silenced, and everyone's eyes were focused on the girl who looked like a goddess descending to earth.
A light veil draped her graceful figure, and as she moved, the long dress shimmered with tiny sparkles. The gemstone jewelry on her body jingled softly, and her long, pink-gold hair cascaded down to her waist—a color that no hair dye could ever replicate.
Her fair and delicate skin and pink-gold hair radiated a soft glow, and the celestial beings could not guess what race such a person, so favored by the Creator, was.
It is also unimaginable what kind of race could give birth to her, whose beauty transcends that of a normal humanoid creature.
Even the city of heaven, which loves beautiful women and treasures, was shaken to its core by the beauty of the young girl.
Even the sound of breathing became very soft. A waiter, distracted, accidentally knocked over a wine glass, which shattered on the ground with a crisp sound, waking people from their trance.
A person in the center of the banquet turned around, saw the newcomer, and a faint, warm smile appeared on their androgynous face.
Anno kept his eyes straight ahead and immediately spotted the...man?or woman? next to Caius.
There was probably too much alcohol at the banquet; even the small fountains were spouting different kinds of liquor. She was slightly dizzy from the strong alcohol and couldn't tell if the person was male or female.
He had long, slightly wavy white hair, which was tinged with a light gold by the golden light reflected from the golden palace. His sharp, clear features were softened by his gentle expression, and his light purple eyes were beautiful and alluring.
It was these eyes that made Anno unable to determine his gender.
Fei Jue, holding Anuo's hand, stopped in front of him and bowed respectfully, "Your Majesty."
Xi nodded slightly, her gaze falling on Anuo. "We are truly sorry to have such an honored guest in the City of Heaven."
His tone was calm and gentle, his voice pleasant, without much emotional fluctuation, yet it inexplicably soothed people's restless minds, bringing them peace and a sense of goodwill.
"My name is Xi, which means the rising sun in the Lyca language. I am a small guardian of the City of Heaven."
Xi took Anuo's hand, bent down, and touched it with her forehead.
This is the highest form of courtesy from the king, representing the utmost respect for the visitor.
Anno stood ramrod straight and simply nodded at him. The Zerg never bowed or knelt before any race, even if the person opposite them was the supreme ruler of a civilization; a handshake was their greatest respect.
She looked Xi up and down for a while, but still couldn't tell his gender. Compared to the crowd at the banquet who were all dressed in gorgeous clothes and wearing all sorts of fancy jewelry, he was dressed much more simply, in a pure white robe with gold embroidery, only revealing his slender neck and hands. The only piece of jewelry he wore was a string of energy stone pendants with golden patterns on his chest.
“You know who I am,” Anno said, his tone certain.
Xi smiled faintly, "They're too blind to see it, and Mo is keeping it from us, but I haven't forgotten the most powerful race in the universe, our lovely little prince."
Anuo's expression was indifferent. When he heard him mention Mo, he thought to himself that Mo was indeed unreliable.
Mo, who hadn't appeared for a long time, let out a soft "ooh" in her mind. Anuo sneered and ignored it, blocking out its consciousness.
“Your Majesty, she…” Caius was still a little confused when he saw that both Fei Jue and the King knew who Anno was.
"Miss Anno is..."
"Do not be rude, this is the young prince of the Zerg."
Xi interrupted Caius.
Caius's eyes widened slightly. Although he had been guessing for a long time, he never expected that Anno's identity was that of a Zerg.
Although the Laika Galaxy has been closed off for hundreds of years and has not developed, its past technology and civilization have been preserved. However, the celestial beings are all fond of pleasure and few people know about the outside world. After all, no matter how much they know, they cannot go out.
Most of them only knew that such a race existed, but they didn't really know what it was like.
However, for someone like Fei Jue and Chaos, who can be considered heirs, it is essential to understand the various races in the universe. Not to mention knowing them all, the Zerg are no ordinary civilization.
Caius dared not think about this because he knew the characteristics of this race. Even an ordinary member of the family would not leave the group, because if they were separated from the group, they could not survive alone for long.
A single Queen Worm represents the entire species and would never go to other places alone, especially not to a closed system like their Lyca.
After the initial shock, Caius quickly recovered and bowed to Ano to apologize, "I'm sorry, Your Highness, I was blind."
Anno didn't give him a response, and was even colder than before. She was never good at pretending, even back on Earth, in the base where she was surrounded by wolves, she always acted this way.
So what if you can't stand her? At worst, you'll just fight her. She's not afraid of death anyway. Whoever dares to mess with her, she'll beat them to a pulp. Eventually, no one will bother messing with her anymore.
Caius felt a little uneasy about her cold attitude, thinking it was because he had previously let her get away with it.
He couldn't help but look at Fei Jue standing next to Anuo. Seeing Fei Jue's leisurely appearance, he gritted his teeth in hatred.
No wonder he said those things to me; he already knew all along.
Ignoring the glare from Caius, Fei Jue went to get some drinks. Caius glanced at the king, who kept his eyes on Anno, then at Anno, hesitated for a moment, and then stepped back, walking towards Fei Jue.
"Hopefully they didn't give you an unpleasant experience."
Xi took two glasses of wine from the waiter and handed one to Anuo.
Anno shook his head and did not answer.
Xi smiled and said, "Don't worry, there's no alcohol in it, but it will have a flavor you like."
Anno paused, looking at the golden liquid in the glass, and asked, "Why do you think I would like it?"
"I guessed." Xi handed the wine glass to Anuo again. "Actually, His Highness never hides what he likes, and he does the same with what he dislikes."
Anno stared at the wine in his hand for a while. His hands were long and beautiful, with neatly trimmed nails. The knuckles of his fingers were not the usual sharply defined type, but rather full and rounded, reminding her of Sitar's hands, which were also round and long, soft to the touch yet strong.
Xi watched her patiently, without urging or asking her when she became distracted.
Anno snapped out of her daze and took the wine glass from his hand.
Xi reached out her hand again and asked gently, "Is it alright?"
Anno did not refuse.
A smile flickered across Xi's cat-eye-like eyes as she took her arm. "Your Highness doesn't like banquets like this. Their eyes are like those of greedy merchants eyeing the rarest treasure."
Anno glanced at the banquet, which seemed lively with everyone chatting and dancing, but their eyes were intentionally or unintentionally looking towards them.
Just as Xi said, their eyes were filled with greed, suppressing a desire to obtain something.
But this gaze wasn't just directed at her; it also fell on the king.
Xi's gaze was not one of ignoring them, but rather taking them all in, though not with tolerance, but with the contempt and manipulation of a superior.
Xi took her arm and they walked slowly towards the platform outside. A night breeze blew in, dispersing the strong smell of alcohol. The clear wind blew on Anuo's face, clearing her dizzy head.
She slowly exhaled, as if she were breathing in fresh air after emerging from the water.
She looked at the wine in her hand that Xi said had no alcohol, took a small sip, and found it sweet, like a fruit wine she had drunk before. It really did have no alcohol.
"It's just a drink," she thought to herself with a slight disapproval.
She still wanted to drink, but she couldn't get drunk in a place like this.
She wasn't sure about Xi's attitude. He knew who she was, so he probably knew why she was here. Whether Mo said it or not was no longer important. Mo had brought her up here because he couldn't reveal her identity, which was why he had gone through all that trouble to get her here.
Now that her identity has been revealed, it doesn't matter whether she knows anything else or not.
Mo wanted her to kill it, but she just wanted to leave the City of Heaven.
"Mo is disappointed with the City of Heaven. He has already done a great job of holding on until now."
Xi suddenly spoke, confirming Anuo's thoughts.
"Your Highness need not intervene, for He does not have much time left. I hope that in the remaining days, I can still do something for Lyca."
Anno's heart stirred, and he looked up at Xi. He said it was for Leica, not for the City of Heaven.
Xi lowered his eyes to look at Anuo. When they met, his gaze was gentle, like that of an elder who had seen through the ways of the world. This made Anuo unable to have any chaotic thoughts and she could only follow his ideas.
"Your Highness, rest assured. Although there are some scoundrels in the Heavenly City, with me here, I will protect you. Otherwise, Sevier will definitely not let me off the hook."
Anno paused, "You know my mother?"
After asking the question, she fell silent. If she could create illusions for someone so easily, it was no wonder she knew her true identity.
Looking at Anuo's adorable expression, Xi smiled and said, "Your Highness, it wasn't Mo who told me. Mo is currently in a semi-dormant state and doesn't want to communicate with us anymore."
Xi gently lifted Anuo's chin. "Before the war in Lyca, Sevier and her mother had a fight, and she wandered around the universe. I first met her in the arena. The spirit you have is exactly the same as hers."
"The moment I saw you, I knew you were her daughter."
