Chapter 161: My Heart and Soul

Chapter 161: My Heart and Soul

Anno returned to the front-line base and took a nice hot bath.

She had been on edge all day, but when she saw Anaiya, she finally relaxed. Now, she was comfortably soaking in the warm water in the bathtub. Her mother had put something in the water that smelled nice, and she fell asleep in the bathtub.

Her head was tilted to the side of the bathtub, and her body slid into the water. A slender hand caught her as she was about to slip into the water.

Sevier crouched by the bathtub, looking at the sleeping Anunu with immense affection.

She had just offered to come in and help her take a bath, but Anunu refused no matter what.

She said she's grown up now and is no longer a baby.

She knew that during the time Anunu was taken back to the North River System as a spark, it was the adoptive family that had been taking care of her.

The parents were secretly vetted by Augsis, and only after confirming there were no problems did he secretly arrange for them to become Anunu's adoptive parents.

She and Aughis were incredibly envious of them, being able to take care of Anunu, who was still in her baby form, bathing her, feeding her meticulously, and attending to her daily needs.

This was something she and Augsis were supposed to do, something they had rehearsed countless times in their minds before Anunu hatched.

But they missed their chance, and the more they thought about it, the more heartbroken and guilty they felt.

Sevier took a low stool from the side and sat down, cradling her little head in her hands as she slept.

She was afraid that taking Anunu out would wake her up; Anunu had been on edge for so many days and had been fighting for so long, she must be exhausted now.

She turned the water temperature up slightly to keep it at that temperature in the bathtub.

After about half an hour, noticing that Anunu had fallen into a deep sleep, Sevier took her out of the bathtub, wrapped her in a blanket, dried her off, and placed her on a soft bed.

She brought a hairdryer, dried her hair, and then lay down next to her.

As if sensing something, Anno turned and moved closer to Sevier's embrace. Sevier immediately pulled her into her arms, held her, and sighed softly.

Thankfully, Anunu is now by her side, and she will never let Anunu leave her again.

Anno finally had a sweet dream. In her dream, she was still a tiny cub, running happily barefoot in the spacious palace.

Her most powerful and closest familiars followed behind her. These familiars were basically the same age as her, still little dumplings, except for Secris, who hatched a few years earlier and looked like a young boy.

The young servants knew nothing yet, only that they would go wherever the princess went, to make her happy.

Sevier and Augustus's retinue saw that she was barefoot and, worried that she would catch a cold, tried to pick her up. She was unhappy about being picked up and pushed them all away, ordering them in a childish voice, "Don't pick me up, or I'll beat you all down!"

As she spoke, she waved her soft, white claws and scratched at them, then spread her little wings and flew to them, scratching each of them once.

The relatives immediately fell to the ground, each feigning great pain as they lay there groaning.

The little Anunu proudly raised its paws to grab their spines and horns, riding on them as a victor.

The family members all looked at their little princess with doting eyes, letting her ride on their backs and act silly.

"Okay, Anunu, put your shoes on."

Augustus picked her up, and Sevier carefully put on her little shoes. "My little darling, your little feet are too delicate. Without a hard shell to protect them, you'll get scratched by the rocks growing on the ground."

Some of the Zerg's ores are alive.

Anunu hugged Augsis's neck, rested her head in the crook of his neck, and asked with her big, round eyes, "When will Anunu grow a shell?"

Augsis and Sevier exchanged a glance, then chuckled and pinched her chubby cheeks, saying, "When Anunu grows up, she'll grow a shell."

Anunu's species doesn't grow a hard shell like other Zerg branches, but they still have to coax Anunu into thinking she will grow one, otherwise she'll get upset.

Anunu swung her little feet, trying to get rid of her shoes; she didn't like wearing shoes.

She quickly threw off her shoes, and Sevier picked them up and patiently put them back on for her: "Anunu, be good, put your shoes on properly. When you grow up and have a big shell, you won't need to wear shoes anymore."

Anunu pouted: "When will Anunu grow up? I think Caesar has already grown a shell. He hatched at the same time as Anunu."

Sevier picked her up, kissed her little face, and said with a smile, "Mommy doesn't want Anunu to grow up. Anunu wants to stay Mommy's little darling forever."

Anunu twisted against Sevier, saying, "No, Anunu wants to grow up, to grow a shell, to grow horns, and to become a king even more powerful than Mom and Dad."

Augsis and Sevier both laughed when they heard this.

"Okay, our Anunu will definitely be a king even more powerful than Mom and Dad."

Anunu climbed vigorously on Sevier's body, perched on her shoulders, and kept stroking her head, saying, "Mommy, I want to see the corners."

"Okay, let my little darling see the details."

......

Anno murmured softly in her sleep, and Sevier held her and slept with her, but she herself did not sleep.

She heard Anuo talking in her sleep, "Mommy, I want to see..."

Sevier paused slightly, gently stroking her head as she asked, "What does the baby want?"

Anno mumbled a few times, "I want to see... Jiaojiao..."

Sevier finally understood what she said; it seemed she was dreaming.

Her heart softened, she kissed her forehead, and whispered, "Okay, show my little darling the corner."

After she finished speaking, horns sprouted from her head. She placed Anunu's hand on the horns, and to her surprise, Anunu grasped them immediately and stopped talking in her sleep.

Sevier's heart softened at her gesture, and her eyes were filled with tenderness and affection, making her want to melt. She pulled her even tighter into her arms.

Her tall figure completely enveloped the tiny Anunu, making Anunu look like a child in comparison.

Anno slept for a long time before waking up; she hadn't slept so relaxedly in a long time.

When she woke up, she found herself nestled in her mother's arms, her head buried in the crook of her neck, one hand still clutching her horn...

She paused for a moment, then withdrew her hand.

"Anunu, you're awake?"

Sevier affectionately nuzzled her cheek, her magnetic, slightly husky voice like wine chilled in the snow—clear, mellow, and indescribably beautiful.

Anuo had slept for too long and was a little groggy. She remembered that she was taking a shower and fell asleep while showering.

Seeing her mother asleep beside her, she must have been the one who carried her out.

She propped herself up and looked out the window at the pitch-black sky, where various lights were flashing to illuminate the darkness. Transport vehicles and spaceships shuttled back and forth. Only then did she realize that she was in the front-line headquarters.

She watched for a while, then lay back down.

Having just won a battle, I have nothing else to do for the time being.

She lay down and then suddenly sat up, "Sister Nai!"

Sevier patted her back to comfort her, saying, "The little queen of Cangmiao is next door, probably still asleep. She came to see you once, but seeing you asleep, she went back to sleep too, saying she would come to find you when she woke up."

After hearing this, Anno used her energy to sense it, and found that Anaya's energy was indeed nearby, and her aura was very close to her.

She breathed a sigh of relief and lay back down.

She was so afraid that seeing Sister Nai before was just a dream, and she only felt relieved after sensing her presence.

Seeing her expression, Sevier put her arm around her with heartache. "Sweetheart, are you still sleepy? You haven't eaten all day. If you're not sleepy, shall we go eat?"

Anno looked at Sevier's face and thought of the sweet dream he had just had.

In her dream, she was never stolen. She hatched and grew in the insectoid race. Her mother did not consume too much energy due to the war and had enough primal energy to nourish her and stay by her side.

She didn't experience those painful past events and grew up happily and carefree in the Zerg.

She looked at Sevier for a long time, then suddenly spoke: "Mom."

"Hmm?" Sémill stroked her cheek and asked softly, "What's wrong, my darling?"

Anno hugged her neck and nuzzled against her. "I just wanted to call out to you."
