Chapter Seventeen: Fierce Battle
"Capture the small ones, kill the big ones, but be careful not to hurt the Fire Seed cubs." Isaac waved his hand, and his men immediately swarmed forward, attacking Mike and his men.
"Roar!" Mike slapped down on a jackal that pounced on him, using his massive size to knock the jackal to the ground, and with a single swipe of his claw, he severed its throat.
In just a few seconds, he took down one and continued to pounce on the other beasts.
Tuka nimbly leaped and darted among the giant beasts, seizing every opportunity to bite the neck of one of them. Even though her weight couldn't subdue the black wolf beneath her, she held on tightly and refused to let go. Just as the black wolf was about to throw her off, she clawed at his eyes, blinding him, and then bit and pulled hard on his neck, tearing his throat out completely.
With her mouth full of blood, she spat out the trachea to help her companions.
Anno watched the bloody battle scene, his hand instinctively reaching for his waist, but he found nothing.
She was just a two- or three-year-old cub, and the enemies in front of her were huge beasts, like small mountains, which she could not defeat.
As she watched Mike and Tuka sustain more and more injuries, her hands slowly tightened, her breathing became heavy, and she wished she could still be in her original form, with a knife in her hand.
Seeing that the battle was clearly unfavorable, Huo Yin jumped off Apa's back with Anuo in his arms so that Apa could join the fight. He transformed into a half-beast and stood guard in front of Anuo, using the flames in his hands to launch ranged attacks on the beasts.
Even in this blizzard weather where fire attacks are not possible, his flames can still burn, but there are still significant limitations. This only makes the beasts a little more wary and hesitant to approach easily.
Apa's arrival gave Mike and the others a slight respite, but Isaac and his group brought over a dozen beast species, none of whom were weak in combat. On Anno's side, besides Mike, Tuka, and Apa, who were the main fighting force, the others were all cubs around ten years old or even younger, and they were simply unable to resist their attacks.
In no time, the young beasts were pinned to the ground one by one by the larger beasts, their necks bitten and dragged away.
Mike was also surrounded and attacked by several beasts, knocked to the ground and torn apart. Two hyenas charged towards Anno. These two hyenas were extremely ferocious. Even when Huo Yin's flames burned them, they did not hesitate to stop.
Huo Yin stood in front of Anuo, prostrating himself, his golden beastly eyes fixed on them.
A black figure pounced and knocked the two hyenas to the ground.
Anno looked closely and saw it was Tuka!
Tuka bit one of the hyenas by the neck, refusing to let go even as another hyena tore at her body.
"Tuka!"
Anno called out Tuka's name somewhat impatiently.
Hearing Anno call her name, Tuka's eyes widened. She forcefully bit through the throat of the hyena beneath her, threw off the hyena that was tearing at her, and collapsed onto the snow, exhausted.
The next moment, Huo Yin pounced on the hyena, his sharp dragon claws blinding it, his long dragon tail coiling around its throat and tightening, then he leaped into the air and spun around, the immense force snapping the hyena's neck and even dragging its body forward a short distance.
After killing the hyena, Huo Yin circled around Anuo, wary of any other beasts attacking.
Tuka struggled to his feet from the snow and then limped toward Anno.
Her body was bitten in several places, leaving her skin torn and bleeding. Even her only white tail was stained red with blood. As she walked, she left a long trail of blood in the snow.
In the end, she collapsed in front of Anno, her eyes still fixed on her.
Anno collapsed in front of Tuka, took a first-aid vial from Huo Yin's backpack on the ground, opened the cap and injected it into her neck. On the way, Huo Yin had told her in her ear what was in his backpack, and that this medicine could save her life and keep her on her last breath.
"Tuka, Tuka..."
Anno wanted Tuka to hold on, but could only say her name.
She could clearly feel Tuka's life force waning and his energy gradually dissipating.
Anno took out another potion and injected it into Tuka. He then stroked her head, and Tuka touched it, finding her hand covered in wet blood.
She looked at the rest of Tuka's body; she was covered in wounds, with a lot of blood flowing from her abdomen. Anno knew all about injuries, and it was a miracle that Tuka was still alive with such wounds.
Seeing Anno's anxious expression, Tuka stuck out her tongue and licked Anno's cheek comfortingly. She wanted to stand up and continue to protect the cub, but she felt her body getting colder and colder and had no strength at all.
Anno released the empty potion in her hand, her hand trembling slightly as she stroked Tuka. Tuka had been so badly injured while protecting her. Having lived in the apocalypse for so many years and seen the coldness of people's hearts, she never knew that someone would risk their life to protect her like this.
She looked at the blood in her hand and quickly came to her senses. She couldn't just watch Tuka die in front of her; she couldn't do nothing.
Anno composed herself and thought of the energy within her body. She closed her eyes, focused her mind, and tried to mobilize the energy within her body.
Just as Tuka was about to collapse and close her eyes, a gentle, water-like energy surged into her body. This energy covered her body, helping to repair her wounds. Her bleeding stopped quickly, and the energy that had dissipated in her body gradually gathered again under the influence of this energy.
Tuka's eyes widened instantly; this was the little one's energy!
Seeing that the energy was working on Tuka, Anno continued to focus on spreading the energy outwards, precisely locating Huo Yin and Apa, and channeling the energy into their bodies.
Sensing Anno's energy, Mike and the others, who had already suffered many injuries and were almost exhausted from fighting, suddenly unleashed astonishing fighting power.
Isaac, who had been watching the battle, tapped his wrist a few times after sensing the energy released by the fire seed, covering his body with nanotech armor. He then swung his energy sword, jumped off the big dog, and prepared to attack Apa and the others.
Anno's energy kept being released from her body. This release of energy was like a floodgate opening, and she couldn't stop the outward flow of energy.
Seeing that the two strongest adult beastmen were being suppressed, Isaac's men rushed towards Anno.
If this tiny spark can mobilize so much energy from her body, and continues to do so, it will be a bit tricky for her to sustain the energy of those two adult beasts.
We need to capture her first.
Just as Anno was starting to feel dizzy, she saw a huge hyena charging towards her.
Tuka, who had not yet fully recovered, stood up almost instantly and stood in front of Anno.
Just then, a deafening roar rang out overhead. Anno and Tuka looked up and saw a shuttle breaking through the clouds and heading towards them.
Before the shuttle even landed, a figure leaped down from the sky, wielding a long sword that flashed like silver light across the sky, slicing the hyena that was lunging at Anno in half.
