Chapter 486: Modern Era (If-Things) (14)
"Still denying that you copied it!"
Old Zhou looked at the two big questions that only had answers and no steps, and slammed the test paper onto Shen Ning's desk. "Well, Shen Ning, you're really just copying the answers now, you're too lazy to even copy the steps, are you? With this attitude, I'd doubt if you even did the test yourself if you got 75 points this time!"
Shen Ning's face flushed red. She stood up, ready to argue with Lao Zhou, but before she could start, a clear voice rang out, "I wrote it."
The voice was neither too loud nor too soft, just loud enough for everyone to hear. Old Zhou glanced at the little dumpling who was speaking and said to Shen Ning, "You're too lazy to even copy it yourself, so you let this little guy copy it for you, right?"
Shen Ning started rolling up her sleeves; she was almost bursting with impatience.
“I wrote it,” Anunu said again, frowning as she stood up from the stool, watching Old Zhou’s aggressive manner towards Shen Ning.
Seeing that the two, one big and one small, looked ready to fight, Shen Yue quickly stepped forward to explain, "Teacher Zhou, Shen Ning didn't cheat. I can testify. It really was written by the child himself. You can take a look if you don't believe me."
As he spoke, Shen Yue opened his workbook, randomly picked two questions, read them aloud to Anunu, and asked her to provide the answers.
After listening, Anunu thought for a moment, then picked up a pen and slowly wrote down the answer stroke by stroke.
Shen Yue followed along and calculated, and after finishing, showed the same answer to Lao Zhou.
"Look, she's a real prodigy. She can solve math problems even though she doesn't know how to read."
Old Zhou then became skeptical. Shen Yue then had Anunu do two more questions and gave the correct answers. After that, all the students in the class gathered around.
High school math isn't something you can just guess right; this isn't a multiple-choice question.
Old Zhou's eyes lit up as he looked at Anunu. "Little friend, who are your parents? Where do you live?"
Just as he finished asking the question, the bell rang, signaling the end of get out of class. Seeing this, Teacher Zhou waved away the students who were watching, saying, "Go away, go away. There's still one class left. Finish this test properly. If you don't finish, you'll be kept after class."
With that, he led Anunu to the teachers' office.
Originally, Anunu was unwilling to go with him, so Lao Zhou had no choice but to let Shen Ning take her there.
"Oh, Teacher Zhou, is this your daughter?"
When the teachers saw Lao Zhou bring in a little girl, they all smiled and asked him questions.
"How could that be?" Old Zhou quickly waved his hand in denial. He was only in his early thirties and not even married yet.
He took Anunu to his desk, gave her some food to appease her, and said, "This is a student from Class 3 who said they found her downstairs. She's probably lost. I've already notified the security guard to make an announcement. You can also post it in the group chat to see which parent brought her here to see the student."
Upon hearing this, the teachers in the office immediately sent out the message as instructed by Teacher Zhou.
"Oh my, this little baby is so pretty, he doesn't look like he comes from our country."
When the teachers saw such a cute child, they were instantly filled with maternal and paternal love. They brought some food and toys for Anunu and asked her some basic information about her parents and family.
Anunu can only communicate in the simplest way. The teachers can't even finish a sentence when they hear her accented speech.
"It seems to be a mixed-race family. I think she was speaking Yugoslavian just now? The new teacher, Ms. Yang, seems to know Yugoslavian. Let her ask her."
Anunu couldn't stand the teachers talking to her all the time, so she found a gap, squeezed out, and ran away.
"Hey, hey, hey, why did you run away!"
Seeing Anunu run away, several teachers chased after her, but after only two steps, Anunu disappeared from sight.
Fearing something might have happened to their child, they quickly contacted the school security guards to search for the child, and other teachers also mobilized to help.
Anunu ran outside the teaching building. She was looking for Baroque, but she couldn't find him anywhere.
She clearly remembered that Baroque had gone to school here, and Anunu felt that she hadn't gone to the wrong place, so she started searching among the several school buildings.
At this time, Luo Jin and his group also arrived at the school and had been searching for quite a while in the primary school section.
The elementary school students had already finished their last class and went to find Baroque, but Baroque said he hadn't seen Anunu.
Tang Ting said, "She's still so young. Although she followed us to learn the way before, she's never been inside this school before. She might have gone to another school building."
No sooner had he finished speaking than a missing person notice came over the loudspeaker. Upon hearing it, they realized that the five-year-old boy with blue eyes and wearing a sheep-horned hat was none other than Anunu.
They quickly contacted security and, upon hearing that the person had gone to the high school section and then disappeared, immediately went to the high school section to look for them.
Anunu took a winding route and eventually arrived at the playground.
The school has a huge playground that is shared by the primary, middle and high school sections, and many classes are having physical education classes.
Anunu was walking aimlessly on the track when a figure suddenly appeared, "Anunu!"
Hearing the familiar voice, Anunu looked up and saw Ota running quickly toward her.
"What are you doing here?" Ota squatted down in front of Anunu, saw the sweat on her forehead, and asked while wiping her sweat, "Baroque should have finished class by now. Are you here to see him? Where are your parents? Why aren't you with them?"
After running for a while, Anunu's legs were too tired to move. She had been running all afternoon and had experienced so many inexplicable things, but she still hadn't found Baroque. Now that she was tired, she pouted in grievance, "Brother, my skateboard is gone."
"Skateboard?" Seeing Anunu's tearful expression, he said anxiously, "Do you remember where you put your skateboard? I'll go find it for you, don't cry."
When told not to cry, Anunu started wiping away tears.
Ota's classmates who played soccer with him all gathered around. "Ota, is this your sister? Why is she crying?"
"Little sister, don't cry, brother will give you candy."
The boys were all comforting her. Ota rarely saw Anunu cry like this, and he was at a loss for what to do. He didn't have a phone, so he could only carry Anunu and walk towards the school gate, saying, "It's okay, it's okay, let's go home."
He had no idea how Anunu ended up at their school alone. Anunu hugged his neck and cried harder and harder, and he couldn't comfort her no matter what he did.
Before they even left the playground, Ota could see his parents running towards them from afar.
"Anunu!"
Upon seeing her adoptive parents, Anunu couldn't hold back her tears any longer, and large tears streamed down her face. Lokin had never seen her cry like this before, and his heart ached. He quickly took her into his arms.
"Baby, Mommy's here, don't cry."
Lokin kept comforting Anunu and wiping away her tears.
Anunu buried her face in the crook of her neck and sobbed, wetting the area around her neck.
Seeing that the crowd was growing, Tang Ting and Luo Jin said, "Let's go home first. Anunu doesn't like these kinds of occasions."
"Okay, baby, let's go home."
Lokin carried her toward the school gate, but Anunu cried out, "My skateboard!"
Ota immediately said, "Anunu said her skateboard is lost, I'll go find it for her."
Logan called out to Ota, "She went to the high school. A teacher was looking for Anunu over the loudspeaker. Let's contact the teacher and ask her."
As she spoke, she comforted Anunu, saying, "Baby, we'll find your skateboard, don't cry."
They led Anunu to the door and waited for a while before Shen Ning and Shen Yue came out with Anunu's skateboard.
After Shen Ning and Luo Jin explained, they realized that Anunu had attended a whole class in the high school section, which made them both laugh and cry.
"Uncle and Aunt, your child is a real prodigy. She can solve our high school problems at a glance, without even needing to do any work, and gives the answer directly."
Shen Ning kept praising Anunu to Luo Jintangting. The two looked at each other in surprise after hearing this, but they did not think that the girl in front of them was exaggerating.
Anunu got her skateboard and, sobbing, thanked Shen Ning and the others.
Shen Ning smiled and patted her head. "No need to thank me, little cutie. You can come and play with us anytime, but remember to tell your parents next time you come out."
After thanking them, Logan took Anunu into the car to go home.
Anunu was still sobbing in her arms, her emotions not yet calmed down.
After Luo Jin waited until she had calmed down a bit, he gently asked her, "Baby, tell Mommy, why did you leave kindergarten today?"
Anunu's voice was hoarse from crying, "I don't like it."
Hearing her say she didn't like it, Tang Ting turned to look at her. "Why don't you like it? Do you dislike the teacher? Or do you dislike the classroom?"
Anunu thought for a moment and said, "I don't like kindergarten."
Anunu had never shown any dislike before. On the contrary, her kindergarten teachers always praised her for being well-behaved and smart. She also had a good appetite at kindergarten, eating plenty of main meals and snacks, and sleeping the best during her afternoon nap. So they always thought she liked it.
Seeing her crying so sadly, the couple finally began to seriously consider her personality and psychological issues.
They remembered what the girl who gave them the skateboard had said, and it seemed they needed to change their approach to Anunu's education.
They thought that after spending more than two months with Anunu, they had a basic understanding of her, but now it seems that they still don't understand her nearly enough.
Back home, Grandma Winnie saw that Anunu's eyes were red, her eyelashes were wet and still wet with tears, and she was surprised to see that Anunu's eyes were red, her eyelashes were wet and still wet with tears, and she picked her up and asked, "Baby, what's wrong? Why are you crying?"
"Oh, Grandma's little darling, look how you've been crying, your eyes are as red as a little rabbit's."
Winnie noticed she was sweating a lot, so she took off her coat and hat and handed her a towel to wipe her sweat. "You're all sweaty. Did you take her out to play?"
Logan briefly told Winnie that Anunu had run away from kindergarten.
Winnie didn't say anything after hearing this, but instead took Anunu to take a bath and kept talking to her to make her happy.
After giving Anunu a bath, I made her egg rolls and small cakes. In just a short while, Anunu had already put her earlier sadness behind her.
"Look, this is the bunny hat that Grandma saw at the mall today."
Winnie took out a lop-eared rabbit hat and put it on Anunu's head. "Does baby like it?"
Anunu pinched the rabbit ears that were hanging down her cheeks, smiled and nodded.
Seeing that she was finally happy, Lokin took a downloaded set of math exercises and sat down next to Anunu.
