Chapter 519: The Forest of Giant Trees
Anno stood still, watching the things around him gradually blur.
Karina and Caesar gathered around her, wary of any potential attacks, but apart from the mineral energy that resembled that of the Zerg, no strangers appeared around her.
However, the scenery around her seemed to be covered by a curtain, gradually darkening, and then disappearing little by little from their sight.
The space around them turned into a void.
All of Anno's high-ranking relatives were around her at this moment, surrounding her. They were already traumatized by her sudden departure in the same way before, and they all stretched out their most important spinal whips to wrap around her legs and hands, so that even if someone suddenly took her away, they could react the fastest and be with her.
Karina held Anno's hand with one hand and gripped the long, cold-gleaming sword in the other.
Mingxiao asked solemnly, "What is this? Is it a spatial portal?"
Caesar surveyed the surrounding dark space and said, "The energy fluctuations are very similar, but the person using this ability is not nearby. They may have been remotely transferred using some kind of ability or device."
Secris withdrew his raised hand. "Ability nullified."
He tried to use his time-binding ability to stop the slow, eroding force of space, but it didn't work.
In the past, when he fought Caesar, he was able to stop his spatial abilities, until Caesar found other ways to counter them and they gradually became ineffective.
“My abilities seem to still work,” Poponia said.
He has already erected an energy shield around them.
Obsidian opened his palm, and the energy ore changed shape in his hand. "My abilities are still usable."
Caesar frowned slightly and said, "I can't use mine."
After listening, Anno pondered for a moment and said, "It won't affect personal abilities, but it won't work if you're fighting against this energy."
At this moment, these insectoids had revealed their semi-primitive forms, and the insect patterns and spinal whips on their bodies emitted a faint glow, with Anno being particularly bright.
The light emanating from them illuminated the dark space, but all they could feel was emptiness.
None of the family members dared to leave Anno. Dark light materialized from the core, circled around, and said, "This should be a transit space."
Anno paused, "The middle space?"
Dark Light returned to Anno's core and said, "It's a place similar to a wormhole, but there's a force protecting you in this small space. You're no longer in Tianyun."
"Was it them? The Shadow Clan?" Obsidian said.
Anno sensed the energy and said, "It's them."
This energy was the same as the energy she had felt when she came into contact with the Shadow Clan in the Sacred Tree. They possessed some kind of marking ability, and no matter where she was, they could find her location once she was marked.
The Shadow Clan's followers actually wanted this ability.
If they also had this marking ability, they would have discovered the little prince was stolen immediately, instead of letting him wander outside for so many years.
While remaining vigilant, the members of the clan whispered among themselves about the Shadow Clan within their consciousness network.
Anno looked at the many whips wrapped around his body and was both amused and exasperated. They were afraid that he would be taken away suddenly like last time.
After being immersed in darkness for a while, specks of light appeared around Anno and the others, and the next moment, they suddenly plummeted downwards.
Anno was surrounded by whips, and Karina held her hand. The energy around her began to become chaotic. The two cores in her body were controlled by Dark Light and Flying Star to resist the energy that wanted to pull her away.
The energy failed to pull her away; a teleportation error occurred, sending them all to another location.
Anno landed safely on the ground, with Caesar cushioning her fall and holding her tightly.
"Your Highness! Where is Your Highness?"
"Your Highness, Your Highness, are you alright?"
The family members quickly got up from the ground and anxiously searched for Anno.
“I’m fine,” Anno replied to them on the consciousness network.
Her family members landed near her, but it was too dark around them and they became anxious because there wasn't much light.
Anno and Caesar helped each other to their feet. Anno looked around and, illuminated by some unknown dim fluorescent light and the insectoids' excellent night vision, made it clear that they were in a forest.
Most of the trees in the forest were black, and a light rain was falling from the sky. The rain was also black and had a corrosive effect. Poponia tried to create a shield above their heads but found that her powers were unusable.
Other family members also discovered that their superpowers could not be used. This situation has happened many times in the past. There are many ways to prevent the use of superpowers. Either there is a special ability to block superpowers, or there is some kind of energy or device.
Beneath their feet lay black mud that emitted a strange smell, and black rain with a corrosive effect continued to fall.
The other family members are alright; they have hard shells, so this rain won't cause them any harm in the short term.
But Anno was a Zerg without a hard shell. When the rain fell on her skin, although her skin had a protective layer that prevented direct corrosion, her arm quickly turned red and felt a burning pain.
Caesar immediately bent down and wrapped his arms around her, shielding her from the rain.
Secris quickly took off his coat and put it over Anno's head. His combat suit was made of a special material that could protect against knives and guns and withstand a burst of corrosive rain.
Anno, wrapped in Secris's oversized coat, said to them, "This feels just like the scene in my dream."
Mingxiao tapped rapidly on the personal terminal. Everyone's personal terminals were already offline, which meant that they were now likely far away from any star system that had reached interstellar civilization.
Because of what happened in the Leica Galaxy, Mingxiao learned from his experience and installed some offline systems on his quantum computer to deal with offline situations.
He activated the scanning function of the quantum computer, which could scan the environment within a radius of tens of kilometers and detect whether there were any living organisms nearby.
Soon, a 3D image appeared on the computer.
The images show that this is a very vast forest, and even though the optical computer's scanning range is nearly 100 kilometers in diameter, it still couldn't scan the edge of the forest.
In the 3D image, there are many small red dots, and those small red dots are living organisms.
Caesar held Anno tighter in his arms: "Let's find a place to take shelter from the rain first."
Following the route scanned by Mingxiao, the group headed towards a certain direction in the forest.
The trees here are exceptionally tall, with any one of them having a diameter of two or three meters. These trees are not very dense, making Anno and his group appear very small, as if they had stumbled into a kingdom of giant trees.
In such a vast forest, even dim light and shooting stars are rare.
Even with such tall trees in the forest, rainwater still seeped in, which suggests that it must have rained even more heavily outside.
The mud underfoot was very sticky, making it difficult to walk. Caesar carried Anno on his back and searched for a place to take shelter from the rain.
Occasionally, some luminous creatures would fly into the forest, and some luminous plants would grow next to the trees. However, they had been watered by black rain for a long time, and their light had become very dim. The luminous creatures also moved slowly, but they seemed to have adapted to this environment and were not affected by the black rain.
Obsidian curiously grabbed a glowing creature that flew in front of them, examined it carefully, and said, "This thing is somewhat similar to the creatures of our Sivitro."
Anno looked up from Caesar's shoulder, wanting to reach out and touch the glowing creature in Obsidian's hand, but Obsidian pulled his hand back. "Your Highness, this thing is also corrosive. Please don't touch it."
Raindrops fell on Anno's hand, corroding it until it turned red. The burning pain made her pull her hand away, but her self-purifying and repairing abilities allowed her hand to recover quickly.
Looking at the restored back of his hand, Anno had an idea and said to Obsidian, "Bring it to me."
Obsidian was stroking the palm-sized glowing creature. The creature was very docile and didn't struggle much after being caught.
Upon hearing Anno's words, Obsidian grabbed it and placed it near Anno.
Anno gathered his purification power at his fingertips and gently touched the glowing creature.
The moment her fingertips touched it, the glowing creature shed its layer of gray-black substance like a cicada shedding its skin, and its radiance intensified, as if it had been reborn.
The glowing creature seemed to pause for a moment, then excitedly broke free from Obsidian's grasp and fluttered around Anno, sometimes kissing her face, sometimes landing on her palm.
Anno could sense that it was very happy, and she was infected by its emotions, so she couldn't help but smile as well.
The family members were all very surprised to see that Anno could still use his abilities.
Fei Xing said in the consciousness network: "Anunu is a firefly, and this ability is innate in her genes. Moreover, she is a queen insect, so her purification ability is enhanced several times over."
He said thoughtfully, "Perhaps there is a reason why Anunu came here."
Darklight remained silent, observing her surroundings for a while before waiting for those people to appear.
They want Anunu, but that won't be easy.
The purified glowing creature stayed around Anno for a while before flying away. Soon after, several other glowing creatures of various shapes and sizes arrived. Anno watched them surround him with a sense of anticipation.
It seems that the little guy just told his friends that there is someone here who can purify them.
Anno expanded the purification range directly, her fingertips flashing with a faint light, and in a short while, she purified them all.
The dazzling light emanating from them instantly illuminated much of their surroundings.
Caesar said with concern, "Your Highness, there will probably be more polluted creatures coming later. You can't purify all the creatures here."
Anno said, "It's alright, we'll purify as much as we can. Haven't you noticed? They're the same kind of creatures as those in our West Vitello star system."
