Chapter 244: Prevention is better than cure

Chapter 244: Prevention is better than cure

In a certain space in the abyss, Caesar and the other three stood silently in place.

The consciousness belonging to the little male insect king suppressed them almost non-stop, giving them no chance to get close to His Highness's consciousness.

Caesar and Secris had completely lost their enthusiasm for waiting for His Highness to see them.

All that remained was a heart full of unease and an indescribable heaviness in my heart.

They knew this day would come, but they didn't expect it to come so soon, so soon that they were completely unprepared.

Mingxiao and Poponia still haven't realized what's happening.

How did the male king of insects appear like this?

They didn't even see a glimpse of his eggs, and shouldn't the young male king be born in the nest?

How did it end up in the abyss?

They couldn't understand it at all.

At this moment, their minds were completely occupied by the news, and they didn't even think to pass it on to Augustis.

However, Sitar's consciousness had already connected to the consciousness network, and Augsis, who was in the palace having a video communication with Sevier, keenly noticed this extra consciousness in the consciousness network.

He rose from his throne in astonishment.

"What's wrong?" Sevier asked in the video.

Augsis said with surprise, "I sensed the consciousness of the little male insect king."

Sevier said seriously, "Is it the egg of the young male king that has hatched in the nest?"

Augsis looked through the palace toward a certain place. "No, not the nest, but the abyss."

Bottom of the abyss.

Anno led Sitar to the place where Caesar and Secris were facing the wall. There was no light from the glowing creatures or minerals, only darkness.

She was the only light.

Upon seeing her arrive, the four of them knelt down.

What forced them to kneel was that invisible, domineering consciousness.

"Your Highness."

They wanted to look up at Anno, but that consciousness kept suppressing them, like a mountain pressing down on them, incredibly heavy.

But in just a moment, the pressure on him was gone.

"Caesar, Secris, are you two alright here?"

Anno wanted to go forward to see them, but was blocked by the magnetic field shield that isolated them.

This isolation magnetic field can only be opened with her father's command. She can open it, but her father will notice as soon as she moves the shield.

They are still being punished, and they still have to abide by the rules.

No Zerg member can escape punishment for wrongdoing; once an action is taken, it must be obeyed.

"Your Highness, we are alright."

Caesar and Secris both walked up to Anno and looked at her through an invisible magnetic field.

Then, their gaze fell on a figure standing behind Anno.

The faint light emanating from Anno didn't illuminate a wide area, but their eyesight was excellent enough for them to make out the figure.

That was the newly born male insect king, Sitar.

He was born already in the form of a teenager, breaking the impression passed down in their insect race about the birth of all young male insect kings.

"Your Highness Sitar."

His four relatives all bowed to him.

The Sitars are also Overlords, and the Zerg's innate hierarchy dictates that they must submit.

Anno's consciousness was occupied by Sitar, unaware of the complex emotions in their hearts. He said to Caesar and Secris, "You can stay here in peace. I will come to see you from time to time."

She originally wanted to tell them to try to get their sentences reduced in front of her mother and father, but then she remembered what her mother had told her: she should not express any biased words or emotions to her family members.

Séville said this because she was worried that if she treated Caesar too well, even the slightest bit of Caesar would make him "take advantage of her favor."

Anunu can favor any of his servants, but that servant cannot be Caesar.

She too will have favoritism among her followers. As long as there is the emotional consciousness of a higher being, it is impossible not to have things she likes. Even any level of follower in the Zerg will have things they like under the gene-driven loyalty.

However, Caesar's abilities, combined with the faction he belonged to, made him a potential heretic of the Zerg at any time.

His mind was affected by too many clones, and since he had this ability, even without Anunu's incident, his mental state would have been affected sooner or later.

The Zerg have had their share of heretics in the past. These heretics often start by having mental problems and then begin to disrupt the order of the group.

As it stands, Caesar is just a bit rebellious, but she must take precautions to prevent it from escalating.

It wasn't that she couldn't tolerate Caesar, but rather that the Zerg's racial structure and social model couldn't accommodate him.

The Zerg are built upon the Overlords and their retinues; nothing else exists. This is the foundation of the Zerg.

The Zerg can exist without any familiars, but they cannot exist without the Overlord. The Overlord is the entire Zerg, so there can be no existence that threatens the Overlord's status, not even in terms of ideology.

She knew that Anunu was exceptionally lenient with Caesar, so she wouldn't get rid of him, but Caesar needed someone to keep him in check.

I didn't expect that someone who could suppress him would appear so quickly.

After talking for a while, Anno, Caesar, and Secris prepared to take Sitar back to the palace.

If her mother and father knew that the baby male king had been born, they would be even more surprised than she was.

She had just turned around when she heard Caesar's voice behind her.

"Your Highness, you will definitely come to see me again, won't you? I'll be waiting for you here."

His tone carried a hint of unease, as if he feared Anno would abandon him.

After Caesar finished speaking, Secris glanced at him, and Poponia secretly gasped.

Even the slow-witted Mingxiao felt a chill run down her spine.

Vanguard, you're too brave!

The little male insect king is right beside Your Highness!

Although Sitar has only just been born, his domineering consciousness and the aura of a Zerg overlord make it impossible for them to regard him as a Zerg larva.

Caesar wanted to whisper to Anno in his mind, but Sitar was too guarded, so he had no chance and had to speak out.

The moment he opened his mouth, Sitar's gaze turned into a cold beam and shot towards him. The immense pressure made him gasp for breath, and he lowered his eyes, his face turning slightly pale.

Anuo turned around when she heard his words. Seeing his appearance, her heart softened, and she said in a reassuring tone, "Don't worry, I will come to see you."

After saying that, she added, "You two be good and don't fight."

Caesar and Secris simultaneously replied, "Yes."

Then they simultaneously delivered a cold slash to each other.

Sitar noticed the change in Anno's emotions towards Caesar and a hint of inquiry appeared in his eyes.

After a moment's thought, he withdrew his pressure on Caesar and, holding Anno's hand, flew towards the top of the abyss.

Mingxiao and Poponia didn't dare to get too close, and followed behind the two.

Caesar looked up at the light that was receding further and further away from him until the light disappeared and the abyss was plunged back into darkness, at which point he looked away.

It was rare for Secris to speak to him, "From now on, His Highness's gaze will no longer linger on us."

Caesar sat back in his original seat and closed his eyes. "So what? As long as I'm by His Highness's side, nothing else matters."

Secris scoffed, as if mocking Caesar's hypocrisy.

"Your understanding is different from what you say."

Caesar: "You keep your consciousness tightly guarded, not letting us even peek in, but you like to wander around in our consciousness. Secris, we're both equally bad."

Secris said coldly, "Who's going to compare me to you? Don't try to put me in your shoes."

Caesar remained calm and spoke in a leisurely tone: "We are not comparable. Your Highness treats me differently than you do."

Secris waved his claws in the air as if Caesar were right in front of him, ready to slice him in two.

"Keep being smug, let's see if you can still be so smug in front of Prince Sitar."

Caesar was not angered by Secris's words and remained calm. "Nancy is the Queen's favorite servant. Whether in the Abyss or on campaign, she takes him with her. She spends more time with him than Augustus does with the Queen."

As the Queen Worm, Augsis had to stay in the palace.

Two overlords can never leave the Zerg system at the same time, unless interstellar peace is restored and there are new overlords, in which case they can travel together without worry.

Secris knew what Caesar was trying to say. He was using Nancy as an example. Even with the pressure from Augsis, Nancy wouldn't be affected if she wasn't in the palace. And His Highness wouldn't stay in the Zerg system forever. Caesar's abilities made it the easiest for him to go out.

That's what he's planning.

Just like before, he pulled him along, using shielding to circumvent the Queen's consciousness and thus avoid orders.

Caesar's thoughts and actions were practically gravitating towards the heresy of the Zerg.
