Chapter 177: Punishment
Anno looked at Baroque, who was crying incessantly in her arms, and thought to herself that she could only ask him after he had settled down.
She is now very worried about her adoptive parents.
Even the baroque, a hybrid species, has become a corrupted being and appeared in the exile zone; the situation of the others is probably no better.
Baroque cried in Anno's arms for a long time, until he was exhausted and slowly stopped sobbing in her arms.
"Little...Little Seven, Dad...Dad, Mom, Brother...Sister, they're all gone, I can't find them."
Baroque held Anno's waist, speaking to her with intermittent sobs.
Anno stroked his head gently and said, "I will find them, don't be afraid, stay with me for now, okay?"
Baroque nodded vigorously. He had been hiding in exile for days, living in constant fear, and was already exhausted, both physically and mentally.
"Gurgle..."
Baroque's stomach growled loudly; he hadn't had a proper meal in a long time.
Anno took him back to the palace, gave him a good meal, and then had Mingxiao and the others give him a good bath and change him into clean clothes.
After he finished showering, he was so tired that he fell asleep.
Anno let him sleep in his own palace and inquired about the war situation on the front lines from Caesar's perspective.
She hasn't contacted Caesar and the others for over half a month.
Caesar and Mingxiao reported on the battles and Anno's progress at the front in detail over the past few days.
Their few relatives had been leading the legion toward Beihe, and had already entered Beihe's inner star system. Because of Beihe's advanced shielding system, it was difficult for them to contact the front-line main base.
However, retreating would be detrimental to the battle, so they could only return to the front lines after capturing an important stronghold, where they received the Queen's order to come back.
Caesar knew that it was Anno who wanted to go to the front lines. He and Secris hadn't stopped for a moment these past few days, constantly attacking the North River system, just to take it over as quickly as possible and prevent their prince from participating in the dangerous war.
The morale of the Northern River system is currently low, and the rebels are constantly disrupting the battle. It is likely that this war will not last long, and Northern River will probably surrender soon.
"Now the rebels in the North River want to form an alliance with us."
Caesar said to Anno, "They are using GT3 extensively in the Northern River system, as well as a special drug that can cause the genes in alien species to mutate into corrupted species. Now the entire Northern River system is in chaos, and the number of mutated people is growing exponentially."
"This may be why Baroques became corrupted."
Mingxiao curled his lip: "The rebels are a bunch of lunatics. They allied with us just to overthrow the current leadership of the Northern River Federation and take power themselves."
"No."
Caesar said coldly, "They don't want to take power for themselves; they want to destroy the entire Northern River system."
Mingxiao asked in surprise, "Then why do they still want to form an alliance with us? If they continue like this, they could destroy the Beihe Star System."
Caesar: "There is also a division within the rebels. One half wants to use the war between the Zerg and the Northern River to overthrow the existing Northern River Federation, while the other half is disheartened because some of their relatives became corrupted and were expelled from the Northern River, and they want to destroy the Northern River."
After listening to what they said, Anno sat on the sofa and looked at the flickering flames in front of him, remaining silent for a long time.
She wandered through the network of consciousness, eavesdropping on the meeting in the main hall.
Augsis and Severus sensed her consciousness and knew that Caesar and the others had returned. They quickly ended their meeting and went to the inner sanctum to visit Anno.
As soon as Augustus and Sevier entered, they saw Baroque lying on her bed.
They looked slightly surprised, not expecting such a little fellow to come to the palace.
They all knew Baroque, and every member of Anunu's adoptive family, and were even very familiar with them.
They had also figured out how to deal with the Northern River people after taking over the Northern River system.
They just never wanted Anunu to be involved. They wanted to let them handle all the worries, and Anunu could just grow up happily in the Zerg.
But now it seems there are some things she can't avoid.
Even if they don't want Anunu to be involved in the wars and politics of the North River system, she won't abandon her adoptive parents and will always ask about them.
Augis and Severus soon learned the reasons behind Baroque's arrival at the palace through Caesar's consciousness.
Even a child as young as him was affected, which shows how chaotic things are inside Beihe.
The two sat down next to Anno, and Sevier put her arm around Anno: "My darling, we will find your adoptive parents and your brothers and sisters, and we will protect their safety."
Anno nestled in Sevier's arms. "Mom, I want to go to the front-line headquarters."
The entire interstellar space is in the midst of war, and as the Zerg Queen, she cannot remain uninvolved.
Moreover, Baroque's situation has made her increasingly worried about the safety of her adoptive parents.
Sevier kissed Anno's forehead. "Okay, I'll go with my little darling."
Anno then looked at Caesar, "You need to keep in touch with me."
Caesar: "Yes, Your Highness."
Sevier also gave him a cold look. Although she knew that he had these ulterior motives because of Anunu, it was not a good thing for him, as a member of the family, to have too many ulterior motives.
Caesar felt the pressure from Sevier, his forehead veins bulging, and he was eventually forced to kneel on one knee, but his back remained upright.
He hung his head, not escaping Queen Sevier's questioning within the web of consciousness.
He also took full responsibility for deliberately pushing deeper into the Northern River system to evade the Queen's orders.
Over the past three hundred years, his clones have spread throughout the entire galaxy, and no one among his followers has been able to surpass his obsession with His Highness.
His feelings for His Highness have transcended any other kind of affection.
After His Highness regained his memories and returned to the Zerg, he also recovered some of the clone's memories through His Highness's memories.
During His Highness's time on Earth, he had an alter ego that was always by His Highness's side.
However, his clone was too weak and did not stay by His Highness's side for long.
Through this clone, he could personally experience how difficult it was for His Highness to survive back on Earth.
Therefore, he wanted to bear all the harm for His Highness and personally avenge her against those who had hurt her.
He wanted to take on everything for His Highness and do everything for His Highness. This was the duty of their family and the mission they were born to fulfill.
They failed in their duties as family members in the past, so now it's best to let them do everything.
Sevier twitched her fingers slightly and pressed down on Caesar. Caesar groaned as his knees shattered the hard, ore-paved ground.
His knee shattered as well.
The other members of the household felt the Queen's extremely oppressive aura and lowered their heads slightly.
Sevier wasn't angry that Caesar defied her orders, but rather that his personality might lead him to disobey Anunu.
He is Anunu's servant, but his strong personality might cause Anunu some trouble in the future.
Augustus placed his hand on Severus's, wanting to say a few good words for Caesar, but when he looked at her, her eyes were like knives slashing at him.
He immediately withdrew his hand, thinking that it would be better to let Caesar be punished. He didn't want to make Sevier angry. He had only recently made up with Sevier, and if he got angry with her again, he didn't know how long it would take to coax her back.
Sémill looked at Caesar and slowly began to speak: "Caesar..."
Before she could even utter her punishment for Caesar, a soft, warm hand rested on hers, dispelling the oppressive aura she had exerted on him.
"Mother."
The moment Anno called for his mother, the coldness on Sevier's face vanished.
She held Anunu's hand in hers and said softly, "My darling, Caesar did something wrong this time and must be punished."
