Chapter 484: Modern Era (If-Things) (12)

“Sweetie, this is your Chinese name, Anuo. If you need anything at school, just ask your teacher. Dad will pick you up after school.”

Lokin held the still-sleepy Anunu in his arms, giving her instructions over and over. Anunu nestled in his arms and hummed in response.

She usually sleeps until nine or ten o'clock, but kindergarten requires her to get up so early.

Tang Ting glanced back at them and said, "Last night, Tao Tao Le dragged her to play games all night. Even when it was time to go to bed, the two sisters were still playing games on their consoles."

Lokin pinched Anunu's little face: "No wonder she was so sleepy. I took away Tao Tao Le's game console when we got back."

Tang Ting laughed and said, "You can hide three if you collect one Peach Joy. Just go back and tell her. I came back late last night, and Peach Joy started playing wildly when we weren't around."

When the school season started, the children went to school and the parents went to work. Hicks and Karina went back to do their respective tasks. Peach and Ota usually like to play video games and often stay up late. They are well-behaved at home, but when they are not around, they can stay up all night. Now they have dragged Anunu into staying up late as well.

"I think Tao Tao Le and Ota are just asking for a beating. If those two fall asleep in class, I'll give them a good beating when we get back."

Baroque sat quietly to the side, listening to his mother scolding his two older brothers and sisters, not daring to say a word.

Anunu fell asleep immediately and only woke up when Lokin called her at the kindergarten gate.

The teachers greeted the new students at the door. As soon as they saw Anunu, Ms. Shu, the teacher of the middle class, greeted her warmly, "This must be Anunu. Welcome to Anunu's first day of school!"

Ms. Shu speaks fluent Yugoslavian, and Anunu doesn't seem to mind much, though she feels a little uncomfortable with her enthusiasm.

Luo Jin said to Teacher Shu, "Anunu is a little shy, so please take this opportunity to help her. Please contact us anytime if there are any issues."

Teacher Shu smiled and said, "Don't worry, leave Anuo to us."

Logan talked with Anunu for a while longer before sending Baroque to primary school.

Anunu looked around at the children who were about her age. It was the first day of school, and all the parents were bringing their children to school. It was a lively scene.

But the loudest noise came from the children's cries. They were all crying and calling for their parents and to go home. It was a truly ear-piercing sound.

Teacher Shu took her to the classroom, patiently and meticulously introducing her to some of the basic facilities, and helped her put her backpack into her own locker.

When class started, Teacher Shu brought Anunu to the stage to introduce the new classmate to the other children.

Anunu is already five years old. Originally, Luo Jin thought of letting her start from the small class, but the children in the small class were too young, the youngest being only about three years old. So he decided to enroll her in the middle class instead, where the children in the class are all about the same age as her.

When the children in the class saw the cute and pretty Anunu, they all chattered excitedly, clapped enthusiastically to welcome her, and gave her all sorts of small gifts.

Anunu was unsure how to respond to the children's curiosity and enthusiasm, so she just sat there without saying a word, and she couldn't quite understand what they were saying.

It was Teacher Shu who noticed her discomfort and managed to get the other children to leave with a few words.

Anunu spent the morning in the enthusiastic teaching and activities of several teachers. She was initially curious, but after she understood what kind of place it was, she became less interested.

She only perked up at lunchtime, and after eating, she would take a nap. In the following days, these were the two parts she looked forward to the most.

"Baby, how was your day at kindergarten? Did you have fun?"

When school ended in the afternoon, Tang Ting came to pick up Anunu on time.

Anunu hugged Tang Ting's neck and asked, "Daddy, will I have to stay here from now on?"

Judging from her tone, Tang Ting didn't seem very happy. "After you attend kindergarten for two years, you can go to primary school like Baroque."

"What's wrong? Don't you like it here?"

Anunu shook her head and then nodded. She didn't know what to say. Today, the teacher taught some simple math problems and words. She felt that the teaching was too slow. She could learn words faster than she could by watching TV. As for the problem of one plus one equals two, she felt that it was better to do it at home than here.

Tang Ting carefully asked the teacher about her performance at school today. Teacher Shu said, "Nuonuo was very well-behaved and sat in her seat the whole time. It's normal to be shy on the first day when you're surrounded by new classmates. She should get used to it in a few days."

Then, Ms. Shu asked Tang Ting, "Nuonuo's father, have you taught Nuonuo at home? She learns things very quickly. She understood the math problem I taught her today as soon as I explained it."

Tang Ting smiled and replied while holding Anunu, "We didn't teach Nuonuo; she learned quickly on her own."

In the days that followed, Anunu attended classes from Monday to Friday, and went to the Special Administration Bureau on Saturdays and Sundays, or was taken out to play by Locke and the others.

However, after only half a month of attending kindergarten, Anunu couldn't stand it anymore.

After learning some of the principles of mathematics, she found it boring. Some knowledge would automatically pop into her mind, and the wording of that knowledge was different from what she had learned, but the principles were the same.

She didn't find the games organized by the school interesting; she preferred playing model building games with her fifth and fourth brothers at home.

So, after the teacher gave another math lesson and had them do simple addition and subtraction problems, Anunu slipped out of the classroom, carrying her little schoolbag, wearing her little sheep-horn hat, and climbed over the high wall of the kindergarten.

Anunu thought that it was still early, and her parents wouldn't be able to pick her up until after school in the afternoon, and then they would go pick up Baroque, so she decided to go find Baroque instead.

For the past two weeks, she has been going to school with Baroque, who is only seven years old and in the first grade of elementary school. Tao Tao Le and Ota are also in the same elementary school, one in the fourth grade and the other in the sixth grade.

The two of them take the school bus to school by themselves every day, and Baroque will be taking the school bus with them in the second half of the year.

Anunu already remembered the route to Baroque School. It usually took Tang Ting and the others fifteen minutes to drive there. Anunu walked towards Baroque School.

After walking for a while, she felt it was too slow, so she went into a shopping mall that sold skateboards and bought one.

Tang Ting always keeps some cash in her bag for emergencies. After buying the skateboard, she also went to the McDonald's next door to buy a hamburger and a Coke.

And so, she rode her skateboard toward the Baroque school.

Ota taught her how to skateboard, and she learned it in just two days. She sped along at breakneck speed, driving her kindergarten teacher crazy. After searching everywhere without finding her, she quickly called the police and notified Tang Ting and the others.

Just then, Anunu also left her phone in the locker.

When the principal and several teachers checked the surveillance footage, they were all wide-eyed in disbelief when they saw Anunu climb over such a high wall and run away all by herself.

Anunu doesn't usually like to play with other children, and she doesn't talk much to the teacher, but she never cries or makes a fuss. She doesn't have the same problems as other children. She goes to the toilet by herself, and she is always the most proactive when it comes to eating and taking a nap. She is also the best at studying, and her handwriting is neat and tidy. She is simply the most worry-free and obedient child.

But now this most obedient child has climbed over the nearly three-meter-high wall and run away.

Tang Ting and Luo Jin were working at the Special Administration Bureau. After receiving the news, they contacted the police and checked several surveillance cameras along the way. They saw her enter a shopping mall not far from the kindergarten, come out with a skateboard in her hand, go into McDonald's to buy food, and then continue walking forward on the skateboard.

Even the police were surprised, "Your child is really amazing, he was able to climb over such a high wall."

Tang Ting calmly explained, "She usually likes to practice Taekwondo and martial arts with her older brother at home, and she has some talent in these areas."

Upon hearing this, the teachers thought to themselves that this was more than just a bit of talent; she was also incredibly fast on the skateboard, watching her brush past several cars with her back to the ground, which made them tremble with fear.

Teacher Shu asked, puzzled, "Where is she going?"

Tang Ting and Luo Jin looked at her route and thought to themselves, isn't this the route they usually take to pick up and drop off Baroque at school?

"She must have gone to find her brother."

Tang Ting asked the police to help monitor the surveillance footage, and they drove towards the Baroque school.

Anunu arrived at the gate of Baroque School an hour later, where the security guard stopped her and asked her which class she was in.

Upon learning that she wasn't from this school, the security guard, seeing how young she was, considered asking her parents or handing her over to the police, but then he turned around and couldn't find her anymore.

Anunu went around to one side of the school wall and climbed over it.

This was her first time entering Baroque's school, and she didn't know that in addition to the elementary school, there were also junior high and senior high sections. The elementary school was actually separate from the junior and senior high sections, and the wall that Anunu climbed over was the wall of the senior high section.

As soon as she climbed over the wall, she saw that it was the high school break time. The group of energetic high school students looked at her with a puzzled expression. They didn't look like they were in the same grade as Baroque at all; they looked much older than Ota.

The high school students gasped in amazement as they watched a little girl carrying a rabbit backpack, wearing a sheepskin hat, and holding a skateboard walking around their school building.

"This child is so cute!"

"Ahhhhh, so cute! My heart has been struck!"

"Oh my god, so cute, I'm swooning! So adorable!"

A boy shouted, "Whose little sister is this?!"

Several girls surrounded Anunu, their eyes sparkling as they asked, "Little friend, who are you looking for?"

Anunu could barely understand two words and said, "I'm looking for Baroque."

Upon hearing the language she spoke, the girls exchanged glances. "What language is she speaking? I don't think I understand it."

"She must be from abroad. Look at her, her eyes are blue and her hair is chestnut brown. She looks like a mixed-race baby."

"It sounds like they're speaking Yugoslavian. Does anyone here speak it?"

"I studied Hellenistic languages."

"Why don't we hand her over to the teacher?"

After a brief discussion, the girls took Anunu to their classroom after the school bell rang.
